  • lots of talk... lets see some welding, not a very good instructional video. but good if you like lots of talk

  • Can You weld ?

    STOP TALKING en weld!!

I can do it in the min you talk!!

  • Just wanted to say, I bought the Tig video course and you get stuff that other videos don't always give you. It's application specific to welding pipe but the fundementals are the same. It wasn't too expensive and worth it in my opinion. Besides, what other video course can you buy that the guy gives you his cell number and encourages you to call with questions? He answered several question via email quick too.

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • first video that i saw that shows the actual movements before the arc eclipses everything

  • Moses, What type of welding will be done on offshore welding?

  • thanks man

  • so u like to FEEL the ROD? i thought this was about welding ,damn perverts

  • Good videt dude !!!!!!!!!!

  • michael, the talking part is the essence of learning anything before you actually

physically do any welding. Your teaching method is good and it helps to get a better

grasp of the process. Your videos are unique and i am sure a greater % of the viewers would be thankful for your time. Tig welding is not as easy as what people think it is. Once you learn the process, it can repay you many times over.

    good luck johnny

  • Your the Best , Thanks for doing the the vids !

  • Good video, very helpful, with some good tips. I usually go for a 3.2 mm gap so that

gives you room to feed your filler rod 2.4 mm through the root gap. Also it will be

enough allowing for pipe shrinkage. Good Luck

  • t5hanks for the tips man you are great

  • omg just shut up and weld.. jeeeze lol

  • hi any tips on overcoming my problem of getting a slightly flat root only on the bottom of the 6g tig coupon mate?

  • How come your tungsten is sticking out so far? With a bevel doing pipe is it required?

  • its more of a personal preference, its never really required that you have your tungsten out a certain distance.

  • thanks a lot of. it is very informative. i have new begin the tig welding. i find that very informative. thanks.

  • dude-soooo much GOOD information...glad i found your home course....if someone knows a little, your type of video adds tons of tips, tricks, warnings, and always repeating the core practice principles useing the language of the decipline [TIG]....hey, you should make a video!!! bravo mate, good stuff...PS: you snoozers keep watching your flashed out vids of some guy talking into his helmet....look deep into the bright spot....deeper, deeper....&%@#$&% tools.............

  • thank you very informative.

  • so when r u gonna weld it

  • stop talking and do some welding! i know the theory now show us how to do it!

    Thankyou.

  • Didn't know these videos were made specifically for you.

  • putang ina mo bobo ka hinayupak ka

hinangin mo nman d puro turo ng turo

punta ka ng pinas kalbohin ko tatay mo

    gago....

  • TOOOO MUCH TALK.. Make me sleep z Z z Z z Z z Z z Z!!!!

  • what tig do you recommend max to $1000?

  • How come so much gap?

  • Because of the technique I use. The wire is fed through across the bevel instead of laying the wire on the gap from the outside. Shooting the wire through from the outside across the inside of the pipe is easier on the welder for watching the weld go in. If the material ever draws up on you, there is still room to make good penetration as well.

  • what is the difference beyween mig and tig welding??? is tig for heavy duty welds?

  • They are particularely used in power plants to put the root pass in on high pressure tubes and pipes for steam boilers...I have welded welds that are designed for 7200 lbs or pressure.

  • cheers mate, i would like to do a mig course and have my own mig welder if i get the time, id weld every bit of scarp metal i see to practice

  • That depends on how far you are willing to go with it, and what type of welder you would consider becoming. TIG, stick, etc.

It can be a very profitable trade and definitely teaches you skills you won't get anywhere else.

  • im going for the combo welder...thank god your making these videos for tig, im also taking that class this semester

  • @mdtread it's ok to fix my old alfa romeo bertone coupe but welding each and every day u get cancer , wear yr eyes out , burn yr ass , inhale shity agents etc

  • is welding a good job to have and is it worth getting a degree in it

  • is that schedule 40? i didnt think you could TIG weld that high a guage.... ive been using a E6010 stick with 7018 cover SMAW

  • great video on walking the cup what i wanted to know now im gonna get out my invertec V350-pro and try it

  • If u think its a wierd teknic ur probably a shitty welder.

  • U got a wierd weld teknic!

  • its spelled technique, go back to class, english first

  • @Mattletic

I am sure you meant Spelt not spelled ...

  • Comment removed

  • @CrusherAU Hailed "best answer" yahoo answers...

"I have often heard the phrase 'the word is spelled' and on the other hand the phrase 'you spelt that word wrong'.

In this day and age where the English language is continually being altered it would seem that both spellings and pronunciations are acceptable."

  • Excellent display and instruction of walking the cup. Thank you.

Can I use this technique with my rotohead tig torch?

  • dude never even put down a bead

  • Not by trade although I can do some fit up and fabrication.

  • Would you happen to be a pipefitter?

  • You got any on youtube of your mig videos?

  • number 8 cup

  • what no cup are you using

  • Thanks for your comments. When trying to teach as I do, I try to cover every detail to give a thorough explanation. Thanks for your encouraging words.

  • Finally someone who actually explains things! So much background and information to actually *understand* things and not to just blindly try to imitate.

    Really great!

  • I had career questions I wanted to ask, but was unable to send you a PM.

  • What type of trouble are you having? Is the cup sticking to the iron? You can use whatever cup makes your life easier. A # 4 cup is extremely small. The cup in this video is a # 8. The gap is set to 5/32 because I am using 1/8" filler rod. You might find a # 6 still a bit small. Try it. Welding is much about trial and error. Thanks!

  • Im using a #4 cup for my root on a 1/8 gap and im having trouble walking it. can u use a 6 on the root?

  • Now you know someone that walks the cup. Thanks!

  • great video thx for sharing

  • nobody i know walks the cup,every1 free hands

  • nice vid for walking.. we're not aloud to walk it where I work due to the marks the ceramic leaves :(, now try doing all that whilst harnessed out 6 stories in the air hanging from another pipe and in all positions! haha

  • you can have all the aluminum you can stomach that doesn't bother me at all

  • Thx dude i can understand tig alot better now i might be able to finsh ma college corse now lol

  • Thanks for your kind comments. I am glad that I could be of some help to you. Hang in there.

  • this is a great instructional vid. it made tig welding alot easier for me than i had previously thought. im not new to welding i can mig extremely well and arc some what ok but tig was almost impossible for me until i watched your vid thanks alot.

  • You might be surprised about the swirl of air inside a water wall panel tube weld. Thanks for the input

  • black pipe will act much the same as hot roll steel with the porosity... fuse weld some hot roll bar stock and then fuse weld cold roll... cold roll will fuse without the porosity issue, the way to stop the porosity and cracking is by adding filler rod to calm it down which is a must on hot roll and black pipe.... not because of mysterious vortexes in the pipe or gas issues...

    nice vid

  • very good video you could not make it any easier to understand

  • Instead of just talking only wont it be better demonstrating the welding action synchronised with your talking?

  • well when you learn to weld and a teacher doesn't talk enough and just says watch for me I am happy as hell for him talking but I got virtually no talking when I learned to tig and I sure wish the teacher would have explained what the hell he was doing matter a afact I learned from another student in the class how to tig, it's sad but it's the truth so no, Michael is not talking to much. I felt like I was learning from a dam deff person when I learned no JOKE

  • Hahahaha! I aint saying he was talking too much; what I'm saying is that actual demonstration coupled with adequate talking in synchrony is best way to learn or grasp. However some teachers may be different: either excessive demonstrations but mute or excessive talking only. To me the best is both combined. A mute teacher will only cause more problems (i.e. assignments) for his student(s) to do.

  • never had more assignment just didn't learn much haha

  • What size rod are you using on your filler?

  • how come a 5/32 gap im learning with 1/8

should i walk the cup with smaller gap

  • Thanks md. Really worthwhile instruction. Helped me perfect my technique.

  • Thank you!!

  • very very very nice!!!!

    Thnx!!!

  • I am thankful that you got something out of this teaching.

Some have accused me of talking to much but it is necessary when trying to convey teaching. I really appreciate your kind comments.

  • Talking is good when I learned to tig weld it was just watch and not much talking, it's good to talk and show what you're doing

  • Great 10/10, super demo and information along - Thanks!!!

  • iight im not a noob at welding but i just havent exp. tig yet but at my skool we are about to start. but may i ask wats walking to cup actually do? bc i hardly know n e thing about tig im only a junior lol

  • I am sorry you feel that it is useless talking. Maybe you should go back in time to the place where you didn't know jack about welding Mr. Expert and think about some novice that might need some talking and explanation. Buffing the outside of a coupon allows the cup to slip like crazy when you are walking the cup but of course you know that.

If you don't like the video don't come back. It is really that simple. My words have helped many people I am sorry you couldn't be one of them. Good luck

  • proper preparation of this coupon would be more useful than your nine minutes of useless talking, ive never been looked out on a test for cleaning both the inside and outside of a coupon, especially in a test booth on any job specific test, do urself a favor and take the extra two minutes on removing the mill scale on the outside of ur coupon instead of wasting time with this soapstone method, fairly easy to remove it without taking out base metal!

  • maybe that's why Jesus Christ called me to preach you devil

  • u talk way 2 fuckin much

  • I am not really sure what you are trying to say.

  • Good course but in reality is different.

    Anyone got his own technic.

    Good penetration comes with practice.

    Thanx

  • But I learned a couple things, so thank you.

I will try it out when I get back to work :)

  • Ive been taught that the tip of the arc isnt supposed to be that long. Its support to be short.

  • thanks a lot for your advice il out them into practice and see how i get on with your method, and i have to agree with you saying try and stay relaxed.ive just learned not to be nervious welding pipe just get comfortable,i just get nervous somestimes bout not getting penertration on the pipe, thats why i have some off cuts first just see to how many amps i need because some plants are different amps wise.thanks so much.

  • You usually lay the rig back somewhat. I don't know what the angle degree would be, but you don't want to dip the tungsten.

And if you do you can grind that area before you cover it up with the next pass.

70 might be a good calculation. Sharp tungsten is very important and it is one of the things I stress in my teaching.

The more you watch the videos over and over again, and the more you practice the quicker you will get it.

One of the key things in welding is to try to stay relaxed.

  • thanks for that advice mike cos im trying to get all the experience i can even from talking to the experts to pass on some tips to me cos im only welding pipes with two years on and off and trying to perfect it.with walking the cup it all depends on tungsten lenght?is is a case on a 90 deg angle to the pipe or slope back to a 70 deg to avoid inclusion in the weld and to gain penertration on the inside of the pipe?

  • Thank you so much!!

  • 10/10!!!

    Well done! :D

  • Hey Richie,

I would go for the pipe element and practice on pipe since this is really what that process is designed for. You could get some scrap pipe or make yourself a coupon and practice on your off time or your lunch time but try it on the pipe because it won't feel like plate since you will be moving your wrist to make the circle of the circumference of the pipe and that is very different than a strait plate.

    Hope this helps. Thanks!!

  • hi there mike,im a welder myself coded to asme 9 stanard in stainless and carbon pipe but mainly weld carbon noe 2inch upwards and never tried walking the cup before,i was thought free hand since i started by leaning a finger on the pipe to gain position i fell comfortable doin thus but like to try this method,is it better to try it on plate first like a t joint to gain practice?

  • You sir obviously don't know what you are talking about and if you don't learn to walk the cup you won't reach the level of the potential you could have. No you don't have to walk the cup but you must not understand why the cup is designed the way it is. The ceramic cup is made the way it is for more than just the reason of gas shielding.

Why don't you go teach your own class?

  • This is bad. This guy knows nothing about welding at all. He thinks you have to "walk the cup" what is he on about. Do not listen to this guy.

  • You are tore up sir and obviously don't know how to give instructions to a novice. All you experts out there full of your pride and destruction are headed for a fall. A haughty spirit goes before a fall. Thanks for stopping by. Look forward to seeing your videos.

  • blokes a novice!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is a profax torch. I really like profax.

  • what brand of torch is that ?

  • What do mean brush the weld. On the inside of the root?

There really is no slag to contend with when it comes to TIG. Not enough to worry about. I will consider that in the future for you.

Thanks Aussie Lou your #1 Daddyo

  • Great Demo Mike!

As an apprentice this kinda stuff is priceless N just what Im after to help me with my tig work
