back then was the best time to live, in my opinion. there were epic tests of strength, and if you lost, the two of you would go somewhere else, feast on ham and pork and drink wine and become best friends for life. there was no coming back later with 6 of your friends to take down 1 person. (well, 90 percent of the time anyway). i miss the honor and the total glory that battle held. now, it's just something cowardly. i wouldn't even call it battle.
@toasega yep, *gunshots* hahahahahah!! I killed 5 soldiers! hahaha__ *sniper rifle shot* total cowardice. But still, this game knows nothing about greece, for example, greece was not so crazy and weird. Games just stretch the reality of things.
@HitStickProductions how come we don't have Gladiator Arenas anymore? I can see people not wanting the fights to be to the death, but jeez........humans are a bunch of pussies these days.......also, i always thought it was really like this in ancient times, minus the blacktongues. everything else seemed normal enough, though.
@tik999 oh, I don't just doubt modern civilization. I've completely lost faith in humanity altogether, and is it really hard to see why? showing mercy to your enemies is seen as weakness (more so now than back then), people need 10 guys just to take down 1, no one understands honor at all. yeah, so we can do things more conveniently because of our technology, which is cool, but we rely on it too much.
a man with a computer losing faith with modern Civ? Cultures that learned to be humane prospered beyond those that were savage. Technology is going to get us of this planet once it's coming to it's end. Oh and haven't you heard, Chivalry
@tik999 i said humanity. as in human beings, not the technology they create. chivalry is not all dead yet, i will see to that personally. fighting for pride nowadays is stupid to me. what do people have to be proud of? their "bling"? their bitches and their ho's? so i want to go back to the old days, so what? if you like the "modern civ" so much, than have these geniuses build me a time machine so i can live back then, and you'll never hear from me again. happy?
You judge modern civ to much by the media. Back in the day, if your whole family was killed and your legs were cut off, no one would have given a damn
@tik999 oooook..........why would would my whole family have been killed and if everyone carried some kind of weapon (sword, axe, pitchfork, etc.), how is it that the people responsible escaped unscathed? and it's not just the media, it's the everyday life that tires me the hell out and makes me lose faith. also, why should it even matter to you how i do or don't feel about certain things anyway? it's not like by reading my comments you're somehow infected by my different ways of thinking.
Not impressed! the game has bugged out already! this is the first ever where I am running down a corridor and the camera just says no and stays static so I go round the corner and that is that cannot see where I am! too much cinema too much talking just a bit rubbish really but hey only paid 24 bucks! so no worries! Binned!
no its around the same time but after achilles had died and agamemnon returned from troy. so in greek mythology's timeline jason's quest happend about the same time that odysseus was returning from troy.
what? my point about nestor was that he'd be the only old guy runnin around, not that he's the only argonaut. if you read the story there's around 50 argonauts. one of them is nestors father.
dont be a homophobic it was very common in those days for men to be lovers and women had no power and little importaince it would very much make sense that they were lovers as women were only used for reproduction and men were seen as perfection and beautiful I belive very much they were lovers and just so you know Im a girl and im not gay.
patroclus and achilles inspired alexander the great who also had many male lovers his main lover hephastain and alexander took on the roll of being achilles and hephastian as patroclus
Again, get the facts. In Homer's epics Achilles and Patroclus are not lovers at all.
Achilles and Patroclus were friends in Homer's story. The whole bit about them being lovers came out of left field and it had nothing to do with what was actually in the story.
That was another historian choosing to interpret their relationchip as homosexual. Homer never intended it to be viewed as such.
yes they are lovers and this was more than normal at the time they werent cousins but they said that they were cousins meaning they came from the same God as they wanted to be more united in other peoples minds and Alexander and hephastian honoured them in the same way years later and if you dont think they were lovers then you really only do know american versions of history
and you think you know what homer intended ,,,i dont think you ve ever met him and there are no facts in the matter just common sense and artifacts from what was going on at the time and how they lived
There were a lot of lifestyles back then and opinions and world views in antiquity. Not much different from how it is in our times.
Homer wrote fictions that glorified his nation and the warriors of his nation, no different from other epic writers in those time periods when war was glorified.
In his epic The Illiad, Homer never suggested that Achilles and Patroclus were lovers. So why should anyone say they were lovers?
Why make baseless assumptions about someone else's story? Pointless
The ancient Greeks did not conceive of sexual orientation as a social identifier, as Western societies have done for the past century. Greek society did not distinguish sexual desire or behavior by the gender of the participants, but by the extent to which such desire or behavior conformed to social norms. These norms were based on gender,
age and social status "Homer's Nestor was not well skilled in ordering an army when he advised the Greeks to rank tribe and tribe... he should have joined lovers and their beloved. For men of the same tribe little value one another when dangers press; but a band cemented by friendship grounded upon love is never to be broken. These bonds, reflected in episodes from Greek mythology,
such as the heroic relationship between Achilles and Patroclus in the Iliad, were thought to boost morale as well as bravery. They typically took the form of pederasty, with more egalitarian relationships being rarer. Such relationships were documented by many Greek historians and in philosophical discourses, as well as in offhand remarks su remarks such as Philip II of Macedon's recorded by Plutarch demonstrates:
"It is not only the most warlike peoples, the Boeotians, Spartans, and Cretans, who are the most susceptible to this kind of love but also the greatest heroes of old: Meleager, Achilles, Aristomenes, Cimon, and Epaminondas." Since the ancient Greeks were uncomfortable with any perception of Patroclus and Achilles as adult equals, they tried to establish a clear age difference between the two. After a long hiatus marked by censorship of homosexual themes,
modern historians picked up the thread, starting with Erich Bethe in 1907 and continuing with K. J. Dover and many others. These scholars have shown that same-sex relations were openly practiced, largely with official sanction, in many areas of life from the 7th century BC until the Roman era.
Although this perspective is the scholarly consensus in North America and Northern Europe, some scholars believe that homosexual relationships, especially pederasty, were common only among the aristocracy, and that such relationships were not widely practiced by the common people
omg don't be a homophobic open your eyes! It was very common in those days for men to be lovers because as i said before men saw each other as perfection and women were nothing if men tried to make their bodies beautiful and would be spending a lot of time together making them selves look beautiful to be gay wasthe norm it was how society was like today you think it should be a man and woman well back then it was man gegen man.
a wife was for baby making women weren't even allowed out of the house and men had power and spent time with other men which in my opinion is better because that's why the world is buggered up today women act disgusting!
ANYWAY my main point is everyone in this game is a ugly freak ! patroclus He's an ugly old man !? I mean I know he was older then achilles in mythology but seen as nothing in this game is accurate they should have made him young beautiful dark haired and tall. Achilles should be a brad pitt look a like with long blonde hair and light eyes game version did have a nice voice & I like his style but I hate how he fancies that ugly dyke woman he should like blonde medusa.
And about Medusa - When snake makes it's stunning blow evade it and I prefer Mace to bash the snakes. Also I prefer mace or sword for it's statue.
Phadeon - Can't remember answers, but they can be easily found on this YouTube or Internet. About fight - He nearly blocks his every attack when shining, have managed to pierce him spear when shining, when he stops shining I prefer mace to bash him.
Hap'je - He is pretty tough, but i found out that he is easily to defeat with you just dodge him.
Even thought... This game is extremely cool, but a lot of people says that it is full of bugs. If you ever came across by crashes, then minimaze game and go to task manager then to process and set the affinity of the game only to CPU 1 not CPU 0 or any other. It will fix massive crashing, but for sound problems you need latest sound drivers.
Achillies - Just block attack and counterattack.
Nessus - It is all about time (if you wait too long you get killed by his crows), so rush and aim him.
to me i thought this was the hardest battle in the whole game, i took down all the other bosses with an easy time, like crushing an ant on the sidewalk, easy ^^
