  • Doesn't look very lowpoly.

  • Wow ... nice body hehehe

  • you're incredible. I use the Blender3D and i was searching for a lowpoly modeling tutorial for game characters. Your video is the best what i found. Very good tutorial. I want to be good like you. ;D

  • hey that song is amazing, what is it called?

  • @mataziastika

    it's Maya by Sushila Raman

  • Quite like the tune :-)

  • what program did you use in this video? :)

  • @RageChanTheYaoiFan Maya 5.0 for the modeling, camtasia for video capture

  • Very good tutorial!

  • i love the video but i really needed to know how 2 insert the three images you are using for front view side view and top view ,although i bet you hate newbie questions like these

  • nah it's ok :)

    in Maya you do:

    Panels/Orthographic/Front

    then

    View/Image Plane/Import image

    if you google for

    v3saephotos.zip

you can get the reference images

  • witch programm u use i hate wing 3d.... -.-

  • i think the best free 3d modeling program to use is Blender, on youtube look for

super3boy he has a complete video course on how to use it

  • Very nice video... makes it look much easier than it really is though.

  • You need to learn to rotate your edge loops to follow the muscle flow and contours of the body. It reduces the number of polygons you need in some places, and makes the mesh deform way better when it comes to rigging. Right now the model suffers from the grid-polygon style. Sure it looks good, but one look at the edge loops and any seasoned modeller would tell you the same.

  • well before and after making that video i read about edge loops a thousand times, and nowadays i get slightly better results, but in general i'dont think i'll ever be very good at modeling humans or animals. For the hips i now tend to use the topology of half of a donut. I wish i could change the video and tell people to remember to go read about edge loops. When i began modeling, before youtube, i was searching right and left for any 3d modeling video. so i made one, as imperfect as it it :)

  • hey , freaking great tuts for beginners(like me )..but i have a problem..my move tool does not show the arows(red, green, blue ones)it only shows the black one.. which is annoying because it keeps moving my polygons the other way..any help?

  • you could try , Display/UI Elements/Tool Settings, then use the "Reset Tool" button

  • pressing the "x" key should make that appear again, that happened to me too

  • where did you find your reference pictures. I have been looking for a good set.

  • the free program daz studio at daz3d..com has a few free figures you can pose, render and use as references. some of the free characters are at download..com by searching for the word daz. you could even load the OBJ of those characters in your modeling program, it's in a T-pose by default. other free figures are in the daz3d store. For anatomy images and reference photos there's fineart..sk --- note that i used two dots .. in the links i gave you since youtube blocks me from posting real URLs

  • Is this Blender?

  • it's maya but the same can be done in blender it's mainly extrusions

  • looks good. U use the same way I make my moddels

  • very nice work

  • wow now i have a new style for modeling females. thank you so much that looked alot easier then some stuff ive seen

  • Good vid , interesting music

  • very useful.

  • wow u good

  • how much that did that take

  • maybe 20 minures.

but to get it to look good it would take hours

  • what song is that? cool modeling

  • thanks ! it's Susheela Raman - Maya

  • nice. tuto and nice music

  • I really like what you did with this. If you do another one of these, maybe you can explain the process. Other than that, you really did a great job on this and the video.

  • When I do low poly I usually try to make each edge loop do as much as possible by rotating them up/down/left/right. Youll just get more detail with less detail

  • русский/ая? ...

  • Hmm, not bad. You could have really put those edges to work! You would gain a lower res result!

  • What 3d program is this?

  • Maya

but i recently did the same thing in Blender which is free

  • Maya's 5 grand my friend tole me i have shade8 Milkshape3d Poser7 and animationMaster but it dosent work on my account :l and the free stuff i have is Wings3d,DazStudio, and Bryce im glad to see a female meshing tut mostly clothing tuts are for men Grr do you think you can make a clothing video?

  • There is also Fibermesh and ShapeShop (both free) that might give a more "organic" look to the model :)

  • thanks, that's interesting i never heard of them i'll look around, starting in youtube :)

  • Gj, but i would like to know the polycount. Its pretty but i'm told it an ineffecient method. I would like to know the polycount to compare

  • as you see her in the last picture of the video she's 558 polygons (all quads) i was just showing how i do it, it's probably better to do it like schools and books do it

  • My bad, Its good at 558 polys. My teachers were stressing edgeloops, that why i thought it was inefficient. But a low-poly doesn't need edgeloops, at least not that low poly. Thanks though:D

  • later on i added a head and arms and hands and she was 2352 - maybe it's not low-polygon as in games, but compared to models with 60000 polygons it's lighter

  • Should have made that girls boobs bigger

  • thanks, its a conversion into a subd. a smooth shape from a tough polygon "cage" it can be rendered like that. there's also the possibility to convert the subd into nurbs patches or into polygons.

usually what i do is work the low-poly cage, convert it to subd to see the result, then convert back to poly.

  • cool =D

  • great start on the model! Extra cool points for it being done in Maya too!! gotta say tho... whut the frikkin wierd music whut whut???

  • tho the song title being Maya, it's vaguely appropriate :) (Susheela Raman singing)

  • Very nice indeed.. and I saw COLIN!!!! :)

    You're the best.

  • Colin's hair look so swell huh? :)

  • Have we just seen a preview of Colin the X Rated Cucmber's future credits?

  • the situation may degenerate to that, i fear :)

  • incredible

  • Lol colin the cucumber x x x
