IF all these lamas were practising something evil and wrong and wud go to hell, then how do you explain that all these high lamas like Zong rinpoche, trijang rinpoche, lama zopa have all reincarnated back? And their incarnations recognised by dalai lama himself? Why didn't they just go to hell for practising DS as per what is claimed nowadays? To me, this proves that it isn't a harmful practice at all, but actually helps us to further our spiritual path

Rather I think the proper path is following one tradition (i.e. Gelug or Nyingma), whereas the wrong path is trying to combine the two together. This is consistent with everything I have described so far, and it shows that there was no sectarian rivalry going on. How else can we understand Geshe Sharabs statement that he was not being sectarian?
It further says that Pema Wangchen became sick because he did not enter the proper path and abandon the wrong one. I do not believe that the proper path vs. wrong path being mentioned here is simply the Gelug tradition vs. the Nyingma tradition, because such an absolute judgement would obviously have been sectarian!
The Yellow Books section on Pema Wangchen says that Geshe Sharab Rinpoche advised him to follow only Je Tsongkhapas doctrine. It continues, The Geshe further added that he was not sectarian and his instructions were proper.
I think there is something to this, unless this Geshe was insincere about being Non-Sectarian!
Gelug non-sectarians follow Tsongkhapa. They don´t need a jealous, vindictive, Gelug protector, so they don´t practice DS. Pabongkha made DS the Gelug protector.

I don't get it. I just replied to an accusation on another post about sectarianism. HH the 14th Dalai Lama's own gurus - HH Trijang Rinpoche and HH Ling Rinpoche were Dorje Shugden practitioners and I don't think they are sectarian?!
just to add - Shugden practice was first practised by the Sakyas. And Nyingma Lamas like HH Penor Rinpoche had offered help to Shugden practitioners who had been ostracised in the Tibetan monasteries and refugee communities. So it doesn't make sense that DS practice is sectarian. DS is a protector of the Gelugpa lineage but it doesn't say that other schools are wrong. The 16th Karmapa has also been supportive of Dorje Shugden.

in any case, it is very ironic that Gelugpas are being accused of being sectarian when, in fact, the very basis of the gelugpa teachings, as set forth by Tsongkhapa is a SYNTHESIS of teachings from all the other schools of Tibetan buddhism and Indian masters. So they are actually already practising all the other lineages... how can this be sectarian?
It's also a myth that Shugdenpas are sectarian which is a very ridiculous claim. They are simply focusing and practising what they have learnt from their lineage lamas. They are just like any other practitioner in any other school of buddhism who focus purely on their lineage. This doesn't mean they are sectarian. Just because they focus on their lineage, it doesn't mean they are against or attack any other lineages.
Denying Shugden´s sectarian function is ridiculous. We know about the Yellow Book based on Trijang Rinpoche´s words. Western followers are not well informed.

No one is trying to dictate anything. Shugdenpas simply wish to practise Dorje Shugden as our Dharma Protector and to have the same rights as everyone else. Tibetans who are suspected Shugdenpas are ostracised in Tibetan refugee camps - they are denied basic necessities which anyone should be entitled to. They are not allowed into tibetan shops etc. The videos are available on youtube so it is for real. Very sad.
It is a myth that Shugdenpas want to convert people to worship Dorje Shugden. We are not out to persuade anyone, since the choice of Dharma Protector is highly personal and recommended by one's Guru.
There are many Gelugpa Lamas who are still maintaining their practice - they are just doing it in private - for now. Until the ban is lifted or fades away.

There is a lot of "protest" from shugdenpas not because they're trying to convert anyone but because they just want to be allowed to practise peacefully and without discrimination. Ultimately, they don't want to create any conflict but just want to protect and preserve the lineage, practice & teachings of their holy protector
@TheRedNiece well the Dalai Lama doesn't believe that Dorje Shugden is a holy protector but a spirit and when practiced, it will shorten his life. From what I know, there is no prove of such. Just by observation, Dalai Lama is currently living passed the life expectancy age.

The Shugden monks did NOT practice peacefully. They terrorized the other monks, abbots were threatened.
DS became a real problem when China decided to send Shugden monks to India to destabilize the Tibetan community. I guess these Shugden troublemakers were just following their instructions (from China).

I have heard from people who have visited the Monasteries and tibetan refugee camps so they would know first hand that this was happening. People in Dharamsala are afraid of the Shugden actvists. It´s only natural, they´ve committed many crimes. The monks who were not allowed in shops in Dharamsala were probably Shugden activists from Delhi, not new refugees.
Dorje Shugden could not be subdued by the 5th Dalai Lama or other Lamas until now, even with fire puja. If DS is an evil spirit, then he must be stronger than the enlightened Lamas. This is not possible. DS is indestructible...logically, it's rather clear what nature he is.

With His Holiness going all out to voice his opinion regarding DS practice he is in a way helping to make it a more secret practice like it was always supposed to be. Then when people encounter a DS practitioner they will never see this side of them, only the results of their practice.

Noticed Gangchen Rinpoche in the video clip his works to spread healing and dharma are known worldwide, how can the ACTIONS of DS practicing Lamas be ignored over the issue of the ban? thats like saying you benefit the world by finding the cure for cancer, yet because you practice DS we don't want your cure. strange? well thats how practitioners of DS are being treated.
So yes may Dorje Shugden practice grow far and wide and benefit many beings without any political agendas, social discrimination and prejudice.
The only concern Dorje Shugden has is making the "Dharma" grow and spreading the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit others. And it is everyone's right to be able to receive the teachings.
If ppl do not have a mind of their own and is very attached to someone or something, it is impossible for that person/nation to grow. So I think HH is indirectly cutting all attachments his ppl have on him in a natural way which is making himself look "bad". At the same time he skillfully preserves DS teachings by simply allowing HH Trijang Rinpoche to practice. Obviously from teachers like Trijang Rinpoche and others, the lineage practice will surely continue and spread!
HHDL is very compassionate and shows ultimate kindness in this way as he allows these consequences to manifest on to him knowing he does not have too many more years ahead of him. At the same time all those in power who are power hungry are having deep fear of not knowing what to do when he goes. He is basically their sole bread winner and spokesperson. Wonder who will respect TGIE after HHDL passes. Sorry but without HHDL TGIE is really nothing.
We know HHDL is no ordinary man. He cannot be, for we cannot simply erase the deeds he has done in benefiting so many and in Vajrayana Buddhism so popular. Perhaps he realizes there needs to be a big change in the way things are managed currently esp within the system of govt? Hence the huge controversy that only creates a negative effect for himself.
I guess we will never know. The possibility is of course there because how can a man preaches love and compassion goes around hurting his "own people" and then goes on requesting another party to give his people spiritual autonomy.
Yes, the southern door/gate is an amazing prophesy that makes the bigger picture and plan of both the Dalai Lama and Dorje Shugden seem even more possible. If you say DS is a spirit, why not get rid of him? Why expend your anger by expletives on forums? Does this help to subdue DS? Because you know that he cannot be subdued because he is not a spirit and he is here not to harm but rather to help.

I have read so much about Dorje Shugden and have not come across anything bad about Dorje Shugden except those by the Dalai Lama. However, I have read much about how beneficial he is to his practitioners. Look at how huge NKT is because of the wisdom of their founder and also the great work of their protector. Surely he must be beneficial and not as harmful as thought.

At the end of the day Tibet/China/whatever you are does not really matter. When we pass away you could probably be reborn in a country you hate and be the very people you dislike now - your enemy! Once Buddha was a bird. With this manifestation he was able to have a relationship with other birds. e.g. Chenrezig was a cuckoo or even a demon. It should be made clear that Shugen worship itself violates religious freedom, because Shugden does not allow followers to practice other schools than the "pure Gelug school". Those who practice other schools "mix the pure doctrine" and will be killed for that "crime" by the deity Dorje Shugden, or they will at least be punished by a terrible sickness and finally die a horrible death.

I was just thinking that all that protest against the Dalai Lama and the banning of Dorje Shugden practise may have been preplanned just to promote the Great King!! There are a few views that i've come across. One of which is this view which resonates with me. From where we are, who are we to say which view is the correct view. Can we read the mind of beings who can incarnate at will? Can we incarnate at will? I do wish very much that the ban will be lifted and all can practice freely. May King Tsongkhapa's lineage grow far and wide and may we hold clean our guru Samaya that Dharmapala Dorje Shugden can help us achieve our goal of enlightenment quickly.
@TheDharmaKnight that's a very valid point. We don't have the qualifications, realisations or clairvoyance to really know what the lamas are doing.
Once we open our mouth to criticise other lamas, then it will never end. If this lama is end, then another lama can also be wrong; our own lama could also be wrong. If this practice is wrong, then so could that practice or another practice... then it never ends.
Most important is to maintain our samaya n sincerely practice w/ gd motivation.

I think HHDL is so kind for giving up his good reputation just so Dorje Shugden's name can spread. Before the ban, few people outside the Tibetan community knew of Dorje Shugden and now his name's everywhere. HHDL detractors who say that HHDL is a money-grabbing politicking monk need to stop and think twice - he can make more money, have more political influence if he had a good reputation and didn't give off the discordant image of a monk suppressing religious practice.

I think most of the great Lamas must be practicing Dorje Shugden either secretly or openly. I say this because Trijang Rinpoche was a main lineage holder and probably pass this lineage to many of the current surviving Lamas.

He is always so compassionate when he tells his followers to understand what His Holiness is doing and to have compassion on those who disparage and have ill will towards him. He must be a Buddha! Thanks for posting this video. From what I've heard, it can take up to 5 years to be trained as a oracle. How compassionate Dorje Shugden is to manifest his presence through oracles to assists and guide practitioners.
Read Trijang Rinpoche's incredible commentary in one full volume that he wrote in the late 70's. It is all about Shugden and his lineage/practice/etc.

Trijang Rinpoche was a student of Pabonkha. P. introduced D.S. to promote Gelug sectarianism. D.S. became the Gelug protector. Only Gelug SECTARIANS practice D.S. It was an oppositional grouping within the Gelug school, a minority. The majority of the Gelug monks and lamas are wery much against this practice.
The Dalai Lama is only alive few more years. After that, the Tibetans are finished.

not just trijang rinpoche but many, many other highly attained lamas, including Dalai Lama himself in his earlier years, recognised Dorje Shugden as an emanation of Manjushri, the Wisdom buddha. Rather I think the proper path is following one tradition (i.e. Gelug or Nyingma), whereas the wrong path is trying to combine the two together. This is consistent with everything I have described so far, and it shows that there was no sectarian rivalry going on. How else can we understand Geshe Sharabs statement that he was not being sectarian?

It further says that Pema Wangchen became sick because he did not enter the proper path and abandon the wrong one. I do not believe that the proper path vs. wrong path being mentioned here is simply the Gelug tradition vs. the Nyingma tradition, because such an absolute judgement would obviously have been sectarian!

The Yellow Books section on Pema Wangchen says that Geshe Sharab Rinpoche advised him to follow only Je Tsongkhapas doctrine. It continues, The Geshe further added that he was not sectarian and his instructions were proper.
I think there is something to this, unless this Geshe was insincere about being Non-Sectarian!

Gelug non-sectarians follow Tsongkhapa. They don´t need a jealous, vindictive, Gelug protector, so they don´t practice DS. Pabongkha made DS the Gelug protector.

just to add - Shugden practice was first practised by the Sakyas. And Nyingma Lamas like HH Penor Rinpoche had offered help to Shugden practitioners who had been ostracised in the Tibetan monasteries and refugee communities. So it doesn't make sense that DS practice is sectarian. DS is a protector of the Gelugpa lineage but it doesn't say that other schools are wrong. The 16th Karmapa has also been supportive of Dorje Shugden.

in any case, it is very ironic that Gelugpas are being accused of being sectarian when, in fact, the very basis of the gelugpa teachings, as set forth by Tsongkhapa is a SYNTHESIS of teachings from all the other schools of Tibetan buddhism and Indian masters. It's also a myth that Shugdenpas are sectarian which is a very ridiculous claim. They are simply focusing and practising what they have learnt from their lineage lamas. They are just like any other practitioner in any other school of buddhism who focus purely on their lineage. This doesn't mean they are sectarian. Just because they focus on their lineage, it doesn't mean they are against or attack any other lineages.

No one is trying to dictate anything. Shugdenpas simply wish to practise Dorje Shugden as our Dharma Protector and to have the same rights as everyone else. Tibetans who are suspected Shugdenpas are ostracised in Tibetan refugee camps - they are denied basic necessities which anyone should be entitled to. They are not allowed into tibetan shops etc. The videos are available on youtube so it is for real. Very sad.

It is a myth that Shugdenpas want to convert people to worship Dorje Shugden. We are not out to persuade anyone, since the choice of Dharma Protector is highly personal and recommended by one's Guru.
There are many Gelugpa Lamas who are still maintaining their practice - they are just doing it in private - for now. Until the ban is lifted or fades away.

DS became a real problem when China decided to send Shugden monks to India to destabilize the Tibetan community. I guess these Shugden troublemakers were just following their instructions (from China).

I have heard from people who have visited the Monasteries and tibetan refugee camps so they would know first hand that this was happening. My info is also based on international news networks who did on the ground research and have made documentaries about it. It's not fiction. Oh that i wish it was.

The only concern Dorje Shugden has is making the "Dharma" grow and spreading the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa to benefit others. And it is everyone's right to be able to receive the teachings.

If ppl do not have a mind of their own and is very attached to someone or something, it is impossible for that person/nation to grow. So I think HH is indirectly cutting all attachments his ppl have on him in a natural way which is making himself look "bad". At the same time he skillfully preserves DS teachings by simply allowing HH Trijang Rinpoche to practice. Obviously from teachers like Trijang Rinpoche and others, the lineage practice will surely continue and spread!

HHDL is very compassionate and shows ultimate kindness in this way as he allows these consequences to manifest on to him knowing he does not have too many more years ahead of him. At the same time all those in power who are power hungry are having deep fear of not knowing what to do when he goes. He is basically their sole bread winner and spokesperson. Hence Dorje Shugden may not just be the protector for the Gelugpas but for all in the future. Thus the future "Dharma" protector in summary :)

Yet DS prevails... what that says is NOT that DS is more powerful than the Lamas performing the ritual, but that DS doesn't have the karma to receive harm,. and also that DS must have the same motivation as that of the Lama's........ Compassion.

I have read so much about Dorje Shugden and have not come across anything bad about Dorje Shugden except those by the Dalai Lama. However, I have read much about how beneficial he is to his practitioners. Look at how huge NKT is because of the wisdom of their founder and also the great work of their protector. Surely he must be beneficial and not as harmful as thought.

At the end of the day Tibet/China/whatever you are does not really matter. When we pass away you could probably be reborn in a country you hate and be the very people you dislike now - your enemy! So what's the point of being so attached to a country, better to rely on Dharma practice. Hence compassion is to all "mother sentient beings" this includes Dorje Shugden practitioners.
May the great King Dorje Shugden, one with Manjushri Yamantaka practice grow far and wide and protect the Dharma.

Once Buddha was a bird. With this manifestation he was able to have a relationship with other birds. e.g. Chenrezig was a cuckoo or even a demon. It should be made clear that Shugen worship itself violates religious freedom, because Shugden does not allow followers to practice other schools than the "pure Gelug school". Those who practice other schools "mix the pure doctrine" and will be killed for that "crime" by the deity Dorje Shugden, or they will at least be punished by a terrible sickness and finally die a horrible death.

The point is WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARD? If an entire Govt can perpetuate and get advice from the Spirit Nechung - so what's the big issue with Dorje Shugden (who you say is a spirit). It would be a great experience to witness an oracle taking trance. The Protector is still on call. He is here to stay as many still seek his advice and protection. It is amazing how this tradition and lineage still in practice today. I believe the Protector is never wrong with his projections. You must trust and believe in him.

There are a few views that i've come across. One of which is this view which resonates with me. From where we are, who are we to say which view is the correct view. Can we read the mind of beings who can incarnate at will? Can we incarnate at will? I do wish very much that the ban will be lifted and all can practice freely. May King Tsongkhapa's lineage grow far and wide and may we hold clean our guru Samaya that Dharmapala Dorje Shugden can help us achieve our goal of enlightenment quickly.

@TheDharmaKnight that's a very valid point. We don't have the qualifications, realisations or clairvoyance to really know what the lamas are doing.
Once we open our mouth to criticise other lamas, then it will never end. If this lama is end, then another lama can also be wrong; our own lama could also be wrong. If this practice is wrong, then so could that practice or another practice... then it never ends.
Most important is to maintain our samaya n sincerely practice w/ gd motivation.

I think HHDL is so kind for giving up his good reputation just so Dorje Shugden's name can spread. Before the ban, few people outside the Tibetan community knew of Dorje Shugden and now his name's everywhere. HHDL detractors who say that HHDL is a money-grabbing politicking monk need to stop and think twice - he can make more money, have more political influence if he had a good reputation and didn't give off the discordant image of a monk suppressing religious practice.

I think most of the great Lamas must be practicing Dorje Shugden either secretly or openly. I say this because Trijang Rinpoche was a main lineage holder and probably pass this lineage to many of the current surviving Lamas.

Read Trijang Rinpoche's incredible commentary in one full volume that he wrote in the late 70's. It is all about Shugden and his lineage/practice/etc.
Go to the website dorjeshugden (dot) com and print out the commentary for free.
Incredible piece of work by the Tutor of HH the 14th Dalai Lama.
The commentary wasn't written for just high lamas, It is for everyone.
It is for everyone to practice Dorje Shugden.

Trijang Rinpoche was a student of Pabonkha. P. introduced D.S. to promote Gelug sectarianism. D.S. became the Gelug protector. Only Gelug SECTARIANS practice D.S. It was an oppositional grouping within the Gelug school, a minority. The majority of the Gelug monks and lamas are wery much against this practice.

Dalai Lama's personal guru practiced Dorje shugden. His guru practiced Dorje Shugden.
So if Dalai Lama's guru can practice Dorje Shugden, then Dorje Shugden MUST BE PERFECTLY OK.
Think carefully.
How can Dalai Lama's guru be wrong??
If his guru can be wrong, then Dalai Lama can be wrong.
So don't go that way.

Only ONE of his teachers was a D.S. practitioner. (Trijang Rinpoche)
Many high level Lamas have warned of the dangers of this practise. D.S. worship encourages sectarian enmity. Westerners don´t understand D.S.s sectarian functions.

what a non-sense. This ghost is not the protector of Tibetan Buddhism. He is a local spirit making mainly trouble and killing people as it was explained by Pabongkha himself. He came in the guise of a sick person, asked monks for alms and when he left them they died. That's why he is referred to as a demon or spirit.

Dorje shugden is a ghost or not is NOT THE POINT.
The point is that Dalai Lama MAY NOT BAN ANY FORM OF WORSHIP IN A FREE AND DEMOCRATIC INDIA.
Because of this ban, Dalai Lama is going to court. He has been summoned by the High Court in Delhi to plead his case.
By the Dalai lama going to court is a huge message that WHAT HE IS DOING IS WRONG.
United Nations have sent representatives to investigate the ban from Dalai lama as it is not what a democratic leader should do.

Dalai Lama against his own disciples of cultivating Shugden practice. This angered Shugden's disciples and resulting in murdering of Dalai Lama's cabinet members. In order to bring peace to humanity, the Shugden cult has to be stopped of such evil act.

ok, my apologise if i'm wrong about these murders. But why do you blame Dolghyal for all this mess ? Did He tell to kill, are there some precepts in this practise to kill or harm others ? If, yes, then all the great Lamas of the past who practised Dolgyal are silent murderers ????!!!!! If these fanatics killed people, they aren't real Dorje Shugden's practitioners.Also, wanted to say that Dolgyal practitioners are firstly buddhists and anyone clayming that they're killers are realy ignorant.

there is no ban on shugden though in the tibetan communities it is frowned upon. Amnesty has found no infringments on peoples religious freedom. the point is that claims by wss to the contrary are part of a concerted plan supported by the ccp to harm the Tibetan freedom movement. they include violent acts, such as murder, in the refugee community and the promotion of the cult in tibet. no body was inferring all your cult members are murderers but it does say 'something'.

Many generations of Gelug Lamas relied upon this Deity.My precious Teacher relies on him too,as did his Teacher Trijang Rinpoche, and his Teacher Pabongka Rinpoche,and his Teacher Dagpo Rinpoche and many other great Lamas.And i fully trust my Teacher,in his actions i see only compassion and nothing wrong(what many people speak about Dorje Shugden practitioners).You know, i give up ;D,do what you think is right, i have just little knowledge and faith.Good luck

HHDL has not banned shugden, as found by amnesty, shugden is used by the Communist party of China to split Tibet by using the fake Panchen lama to promote it & shugden cult members have murdered and attacked tibetan refugees in india hence the CBI (indian equivalent of FBI) hunting these wanted criminals. how about you refute these points with some actual sense and intelligence. your ignorant words is harming the TIbetan peoples freedom struggle.
