  • Sweet build. Always liked the Monza Spyder with a SBC but this is just the chit with late model LS power.

  • What air filter you use?

  • @gadz24 I use a K&N Xtreme top with a custom angle cut and remolded round filter all on top of a dominator flange base to fit over the throttle body. Filter is angle cut for hood clearance but doesn't affect HP since the Xtream top flows so well.

  • Awesome just plain out sickkkk Monza old school meet new school muscle

  • Wicked cool car! Always loved the Monza in drag format. And the LSX marriage is a match made in heaven.

Just get rid of the crappy intro music and let the exhaust note sound carry the video.

  • @Krashdavus Thanks for the post. That's Metallica playing Fuel at the beginning. Better than hearing me fumble for the keys before the car starts. :)

  • Thanks Matt. Its a lot of fun. I'm making some suspension mods and hope to get her 60' times down. The engine runs absolutely awesome and freely revs to 6500-7000 RPM with tons of torque the whole way.

  • all i can say is damn!!! bad ass monza dude, i love it. i like how you remotely moved your water pump. awesome!!!

  • That takes me back. I had a buick sky hawk which is pritty much the same car. After seeing your car i relieze i should have kept it. Very nice car.

  • @hpjunky70 Thank you sir.

  • @454spyder Back in the 80's in my one horse town muscle cars were huge (of course). There was some sweet car's that rich kid's had and there was this one guy that everyone feared. He had a rusted out piece of shit monza (maybe a spider) that had a rippin SBC in it. It was a manual and it handed a lot of kids their asses that had put a shit load of daddy's money into them.

  • I like how neatly the parts in the engine-compartment are. The water-pump is easy to get to, The Coilpacks are easy to get to and the Altenator is easy to change. Hell everything is easy to change.

  • @1BlubeTube Thanks, that's what I had in mind. Easy to work on and I like actually seeing the engine block instead of it being covered up by accessories.

  • @454spyder Sir, we think alike.

  • And the sparkplugwires are sitting far enough away between the header-pipes. So you wont have to worry about burnt plug-wires. However, I never liked how car-builders have to do alot of mods to the steering column to go around a big engine in a small car. I just wish there was a different way.

  • @1BlubeTube

Thanks for the comments. Yes, the steer column required that for the BBC that was in the car, so I kept it and built the new headers to work with it. If you look around a factory cars, there are a number of them that used similar setups stock to get to the steer box/rack. It is silky smooth steering with the Flaming River needle bearing joints.

  • Its amazing how much room you still have in the engine-compartment.

  • It just a Chevy Monza, the way they should be stock, better than most cars in the World.

  • Damm that beast sounds like a pop corn machine...sweet ride...

  • @eddcoupe Ha! That's funny. She does pop a bit....

  • What did the fuel injection system run you? And why not use the LS7 intake?

  • @timmyahhh

I'm running a Mast motorsports two piece CNC intake with billet rails, then I added MSD injectors, Aeromotive fuel system, Accufab dominator sized throttle body. The computer is a Big Stuff 3. This was not a kit. Why not the LS7 intake? My intake makes 40+ more HP that the LS7 intake and hood clearance was not an issue. Todd

  • sweet car.

  • @SuperCrudedude Thanks dude

  • Frickin AWESOME!!

  • @CSXer Thanks

  • Wow, good job go's out to the builder

  • @crislt1 Thanks for the comment man, Ive worked on the car on and off since 1999. Its a labor of love. The LSX454 is sick...

  • wow thats the nicest monza I have ever seen by far , lol at driving it on the street , not seen stuff like that since I was young. guessing took some neat frame work. sounds just like the drag strip and great actual micorphone recording instead of wind noise etc, nice job

  • @j2bodydouble Thanks for the comments. I plan to do more work on it this winter...

  • You really did a good job with that car.

  • @1BlubeTube Thank you sir!

  • Still so much room in that motor compartment. That is one nasty ass motor.

  • It looks like a poor mans Veyron. It looks like it came stock like that. Why such a big motor, it really doesn't need all that for such a small car. A 350 ia big enough I would think.

  • @1BlubeTube well I used to have a big block in it, but went LSX - making more power and less weight. Never enough motor! I've got a nitrous system connected as well. :)

  • Any tips on building the headers? I'm assuming you used the "GMPP muscle car oil pan"? If so does that drop in and line up with the center link? What are you using for motor mounts?

Hope your rear end/taraction mods work out. I ran 10.90s on a 7" wide, 24.5" tall d.o.t. tire with a 1.9 60 foot, lol. I since back halfed the car to fit a 28x10.5. Now I'm putting in a LM7(5.3) with 12psi from a small Vortec, carberated with E85. I fabbed up some motor mounts but have yet to start on the headers.

  • Yeah you can see her tail between her legs. Good stuff

  • I love when the dog runs away just before the car starts! Sweet Monza!

  • Thanks for the comments. It easily runs 10's on motor -very low 10's. Actually, I'm working on the chassis and expect to get into the 9's as my 60 foot times improve.

  • my friend has a 1980 monza 4 speed rear end possie bout to drop the 400 small block in it its clean. just one rust hole in rear quater panel

  • What a gorgeous Monza. The hard work you put into building that machine really shows. Absolutely beautiful--- and equally badass. 10 sec street car on motor? Not very many cars on the street, can touch that...

  • Absolutely like this video so much. The song really goes along with the car's "attitude." Fantastic car. Way out there. This car is definitely a "keeper."

Good luck to you on your future modifications, but I would preserve it just as you have it set up... AWESOME! Two thumbs WAY up!

  • Thanks dude! I really love this little car. I'm thinking about making it even more streetable and installing a/c and quieter exhaust, then getting the interior all redone with a street friendly roll cage.

  • awsome car kinda hard to turn with those tires :) j/k but seriously very nice car!!!

  • Nice to see an lsx 454 with fuel injection. Carbs are junk. Awesome monza!

  • @Toeclicks25 with you tuning them they are

  • @ezcondition Troll

  • All I can say is....wow

  • See if you can get this on Pass time

  • The car is awsome, I love the relocation of the waterpump genius! Great idea for the common issue with engine swaps.

  • i like the way the dog gets outa dodge before they start it

  • i love the craftsmanship..esp that aircleaner..man what i nice fit..lol

  • Yes...!!!!

  • One Clean Ass Monza

  • best monza ever!!! perfect! i wouldnt change a thing and thats extremly rare cause i see things i would change on every ride but not this car. ever make a trip down the ole 1320 with it?

  • @BLACKLACDTS I'm working on launch stuff, were going to pull the trans and change converter. It's a 3500, but for the HP/torque curve it needs a 4500-5000. With a conservative tune it made over 500 RWHP through the automatic and that was with the tires rubbing at high rpms. Its trapping 106MPH in the 1/8 mile, but with a new converter/traction, I hope to pick up a few MPH. Right now it should run low 10's, but my goal is breaking into the 9's on motor then I'll turn on the nitrous! :)

  • @454spyder wow thats awsome! that 4500-5000 converter is goin to ruin any street abilty dont ya think? what auto are you runnin? what does the car weigh? please keep posting videos cause i love this car.

  • @454spyder that is so bad ass!

  • built my dream monza!!

  • excellent choice in song btw, METALLICA FTW

  • quite a little demon ya got there

  • badest monza ever

  • That is awesome. I thought of going that route with mine but went with a built 327 I all ready had. You have a very cool car.

  • what kind of alternator bracket is that?

  • MrMurphy, The bracket is a hybrid: part Moroso (the round part) and the bottom bracket I made my self out of 1"x1" angle steel. Due to the position of the steering box, the a commercially available driver's side mount wouldn't work. The Moroso is a universal bracket for old style alternators (which I already had).

  • @454spyder oh ok........ i have one of those brackets somewhere....... nice car man, how much hp is that motor makin?

  • @MrMurphy1025

The motor hasn't been dyno'd just yet and I'm running a different intake/throttle body/exhaust with just an alternator. With a GMPP intake and exhaust manifolds, its rated at 620 which would net about 520RWHP with an automatic trans. I'm hoping for at least 550RWHP. Add a hotter cam and 600RWHP is possible

  • @454spyder thats freakin sweet...
