  • Hi New England! Our vines are generally "spur" pruned. We prune to about 4 spurs per cordon arm (plus or minus) with 2 shoots per spur (on average). This video is a couple of years old. Our vines are much larger now. We have a section of cane pruned vines ... I'm thinking of doing a bit more cane pruning next year in some specific areas where we have too much foilage. I invite you to join our group on LinkedIn called "Winemakers Forum". Are you making wine this year? Good luck!

  • Thanks for the video. I have three year old vines also and I spur pruned and have a T shaped support. Its just loaded with grapes so I guess I better prune. The vine is no where near as open as yours. Yours looks like cane pruned. My variety is Reliance and Frontenac.
