@stracepipe hes so talented that he can play just the melody with all these little tricks that make it sound like theres so much more there, but theres really not. your deff right that is a great thing about him , if you know the melody well you can follow it through the entire songs, and ofcourse thats besides those strange great intros.
I was checking to see if anyone had uploaded this incredible piece. I fell in love with it when I was a teen (coincidentally, I was born in the year he RECORDED it). YOU have uploaded it in GOOD quality - which saves ME the trouble! Even though I've heard it hundreds - perhaps thousands of times - I'm listening to it again, as I type.
A number of jazz pianists could lay claim to being the SECOND greatest who ever lived - Teddy Wilson, Oscar, Brubeck - but there's only ONE number ONE!
What I love about Erroll is he never strays far from the tune (apart from the intros!)
