  • So we meet again 240p.

  • Without comparison, this music is just wonderful

  • amazing... wish i could sing like that. haha

  • I like that she gives a younger nature to the character, because Fantine doesn't live past 25, and is younger than that at this point (if I remember correctly.) I think she's doing the part of the distraught starving young mother whose life is falling apart pretty well.

  • ok??? y r we talking about Susan Boyle?? (no offense cuz i love her) but I think u could take those comments to "i dreamed a dream- susan boyle" n im sure u would find plent of ppl to conversate with lmao. Y cant we just respect each singer for their own talents n get along cuz we all love Les Mis??? Im sure if we got all the past fantines together they wouldnt disagree as much as all these comments on this page lol hahaha

  • @felishamustafa - My thoughts exactly! Susan Boyle is good and she sang it well. But singing the song and performing the role are two completely different things.

  • :O

  • Even though I know the English equivalent, I wish I could understand these words!

  • Her voice makes me shiver every time she sings that part (in English it's "as they turn your dream to shame!")!!!!

  • She may not be American, but she's complete amazing. She is exactly like Fantine, beautiful, dreamy, and just a tragic character. And she has such a beautiful voice and character.

  • I don't understand one single word of the norwegian language. And I didn't knew "les miserables" even though I know a lot about music. But I don't need ears to hear what she means. I can FEEL it IN MY HEART! Thats the most that a singer can received with his art, I think!

  • Susan Boyle (Boil) ha ha

  • WOW she is good...!

  • wow- beautiful!

  • OMG I got chills. Beautiful.

  • @operacrackers I KNOW. I am so convinced right now, that this woman is Fantine. She's just so menancing and beautiful, and just plain great. I liked Ruthie Henshall, but she didn't have the same class, nor beauty as this one. This is by far the best Fantine I've seen in the musical. WOW

  • @plaidcarogemm ...Fantine was never menacing... Anyway, I thought Ruthie did a better job at portraying Fantine, but that this woman has such an angelic voice that at first you don't notice it - which isn't to say that Ruthie's voice isn't awesome, too; I think they're pretty even, and if you could combine this woman's voice with Ruthie's acting, you'd would have the perfect Fantine!

  • @LuxrayShinx But Ruthie didn't play Fantine like she was in the book. Fantine was young, beautiful, tragic, oh her story was so sad! How nothing seemed to go right for her. Anyway, I think this woman shows more of Fantine's past. Ruthie was good, no doubt, but she didn't strike me as Fantine. She seemed as an older character. I don't know, Fantine is young, and naive. It's probably hard to do that, but I Dreamed A Dream is for Fantine, to be young and innocent. I think this actress did it great.

  • @plaidcarogemm No, Ruthie did nail Fantine's misery from the book, and there is definitely tragedy in her voice. Now, as far as ingenuousness goes, by that time I wouldn't say she was particularly naive, since she learned a lot after she had to quit the factory; I saw a lot more sadness in Ruthie than in this woman.

  • @LuxrayShinx Fantine wasn't sad, she was only distressed. This woman played Fantine to a peak and if you think that Fantine is an older woman, you obviously didn't read the book. I saw the musical first, and I thought Fantine was just a weird character, because I saw Ruthie. She didn't seem so tragic to me. Sad, but not tragic. That's two different things. Fantine's story in the book made me cry my eyes out. This woman made me really sad. Ruthie's voice was beautiful, but not acting.

  • @allthemusic111 No, Fantine was definitely sad. It said that after Felix Tholomyes abandoned her, she cried her eyes out. Of course I know that Fantine was young, but her life experiences after being fired from the factory definitely gave her an aged disposition; Fantine herself was neither tragic nor distressed, but rather wearily beaten and overwhelmed by all that had happened to her, with not a small measure of anger mixed in, given that she blamed M. Madeleine for everything.

  • @allthemusic111 You also have to remember that, in the TAC, the actors weren't supposed to move around like they did in this musical, so you kind of have to look at their acting differently. I thought Ruthie did a better job with her expressions and her voice inflection: Her physiognomy and the tone wherein she sang at least adequately expressed the context in which she was singing in the first place.

  • @allthemusic111 I'm not saying that this woman can't act, but that her voice just doesn't quite as deftly emote all that Fantine had suffered, whereas Ruthie's more accurately did. About the age thing, I honestly hadn't even noticed the apparent age difference between this woman and Ruthie until you brought it up! :) In my mind, both of them are utterly fantastic, and I still can't make up my mind about which I like better! They both have their pros and cons...subtle as they may be.

  • @allthemusic111 Oh, and I'm not being snide, but, yes, I did read the book.

  • Possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

  • I cry every time I hear this. Beautiful. :]

  • what the fuck?? swedish lagnuage?!!!! or what+?

  • Wonderful! Wonderful!

  • Dang, Its in french... I still think it sounds pretty

  • @AlyssaDawnThompson Actually it's norwegian

  • @AlyssaDawnThompson no it's in norwegian :D

  • Me encanta espiritu sathanas... y tacos tambien

  • Komisk, synes det er masse lettere å forstå på engelsk eg:P Men nekter ikke på at ho har bra stemme, sjøl om eg foretrekker Ruthie Henshaw ;) :)

I find it funny that it's easier for me to understand the text in the english version:P Her voice is good though, but I must say I prefer Ruthie Henshaw ;) :)

  • dejen de comparar a susan boyle, lo que ella entrego fue un mensaje, un hermoso mensaje por television, no empiezen a compararla con otros artistas si es mejor o peor, no tiene caso.

  • Susan who????????

  • sooooooooooo sexy!!!!

I'd have a mènage with her....

    Easily...

  • What I truly like is the look in her eyes....the hopelessness. It seems very becoming of the song and is something you rarely see when people perform this in plays.

  • Is it not possible that both she and Susan have beautiful voices? Why must everything in life be compared and competitive?

  • what a beautiful voice, and it's wonderful to hear the song in a different language from English. I also agree with FincayraMerlin I love the fact that she's acting it out as well. In defense of Ruthie Henshaw, the one with her is from the production that was done with not much room to move around as the whole cast remains on the stage the whole production, and I love Ruthie's voice. But this woman is just as wonderful.

  • Her voice is just beautiful.

  • My God what an amazing voice. It doesn't matter what language this is in. The message that she produces with her voice/instrument is universal and transcends mere words.

Thank you Liv Unni Larsson Undall. You are a gift from God.

  • Amazing performance.

  • Comment removed

  • probably my favorite version

besides the fact that its not in my language

  • Some people on here have said this is not live because she's not in sync, well that's caused by the upload. I can tell it's live because of the sound, the quality would be better if it was pre-recorded. What a voice this lady has, so warm with such vibrato, beautiful

  • Beautiful!

  • I don't know why people fight so much. Obviously Lea Salonga is amazing. Susan Boyle is great (but doesn't look the part). This woman here is amazing, taped, lagged, whatever. She is not singing in my language and brought tears to my eyes with her emotion and her gorgeous voice.

  • She is incredible! :D

  • l don't understand why people have to do comparison Susan Bowle sing beautiful, this lady to and many more, just enjoy the song and quit being so negative and hateful l would like to see (thespickimmery) singing this song in public

  • Susan was great but this woman is an angel

  • thats nice, i like it, i was like not english? Awesome a diffrent way!!!!!

  • the voice is not live... it's recorded! notice the lips movement. fake! Leah Salonga performed the best "I Dreamed a Dream".

  • It is live! Jerk!

  • yes it is there is a lag in the vid watch when she start singing and there is nothing comming out of her mouth it happens all the time on youtube

  • @marsiling it is live, just youtube videos get out o f sync with the sound and actual picture

  • This is really good! May be the best performance of "I dreamed..."?

  • amazing

  • oh my god!!!! i love her!

  • fantastic voice. I think that She is better then Lea Salonga as Fantine

  • But then there's Ruthie Henshall ...

  • WOW!!!

  • This is a great song...

  • The thing that I love about this video is that to me it feels/sounds as if someone were walking down the street by herself singing it. Like her voice wasn't trained, she wasn't a well-known person, just expressing how she feels to herself. Very personable to an average woman.

  • No way! Susan Boyle can't beat this!

  • This was a lovely performance. Her voice is excellent, and the accompaniment was especially beautiful.

  • Liv Unni Larsson Undal = wow

and I just heard another video of this girl singing I Dreamed a Dream and I can say that she's also a beauuuuutiful singer. gotta check out:

    I dreamed a dream manting

  • It really sounds good, very pleasant to listen to, though I don't understand the lyrics, but it's beautiful music.

the artist is also beautiful and talented.

  • Wow, it souded really Great in Norweigan!

  • best version doing the youtube rounds, no contest. makes ruthie henshall seem boring

  • *wipes eyes*

    Beautiful. Simply Beautiful.

  • I would also like to mention that there is something absolutely beautiful about the norwegian language when sung, especially. Combine this with one of the most beautiful voices ever heard, Liv Unni Larsson Undal, and I could listen to this forever. Thank you god for letting me hear this! La Vie est Belle!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • perfection. from the simple violin and harp orchestration to the superbe voice of Liv Unni Larsson Undal, this is simply perfection. To bring up the name of any other performer when hearing this is an insult.

  • Norwegian

  • i could care less if Susan Boyle brought y'all here. heck, i don't even know who she is. but this lady has a GORGEOUS voice!

  • @thespicykimmery what a pity hearing ur insults. her voice is like shit and she sing like a ghost, a creepy one. Susan Boyla is below her. futhermore, she is famouse for i dream a dream. just look at that girl o out of ten will not pick her. her voice is just too creep and terrible.all in all, susan boyle is still at the top list!!!!

  • @yenglor2009 Whoa now, I don't care what anyone said to you, that kind of language is utterly uncalled for. You are totally out of line: Debasing people in public forums is dangerous to say the least, and the fact that you're being dogmatic with absolutely no supporting evidence is quite disconcerting. No one said anything to you that merits this kind of eruption of vulgarity, so, if you please, tone it down a notch.

  • @yenglor2009 Second of all, Susan Boyle cannot be compared to ANYONE who plays Fantine, not because she's a bad singer (I'm going to withhold my opinions of her), but because she was NOT trying to play Fantine when she sang I Dreamed a Dream, and therefore she cannot be compared to those who do. Susan Boyle, with all due respect to her, took this song out of context. She was NOT trying to be Fantine, this woman is. That said, just let it be.

  • @yenglor2009 If you want to debate about Susan Boyle, do it somewhere that it's at least relevant.

  • I think you got no ears....

  • You must be tone deaf or off your rocker. Liv Unni Larsson Undall is a WORLD class singer and her tuning is spot on. I love Susan, but sorry, she does not hold a candle to this lady.

  • Det er langt i fra så pent på norsk, selv om hu her synger nydelig. Men melodien er vel det nydeligste av alt.

  • Singers in their prime around Susan Boyle's age and more, example are:- Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Michael Jackson, Dionne Warwick, Pavarotti, Jussi Bjorling, Mick Jagger, Johnny Cash, Mario Lanza, Sade, Al Martino, Jack Jones, Andy Williams, James Brown Bryan Adams, Ella Fitzgerald, Dina Shore, Doris Day, Clio Lane, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Engelbert Humperdink, Dean Martin, Jim Reeves, Sanny Davis Jr., Kenny Rogers, Mel Torme, , etc.etc.The list goes on and on

  • She is amazing!!! Love her voice!!!<3

  • Sheeess Reeeeaallllyy Goooooooooood

man i wish i was that pertty! haha

BTW: i could not give a shit is susan boyle brought u hereXD

  • We could give a crap if susan boyle brought u here....THis woman did it WAYYYYYY better!

i love her performance and her voice its very original i think

  • Why isn't Liv Unni Larsson Undall more famous? She must be one of the top singers in the world.

  • I love how she acts instead of just standing there and singing. She's showing so much emotion. You really focus on the person's singing when you can't understand the language. Beautiful job!

  • Susan Boyle made me fall in love with this song.

  • yay me to:}

  • if "copy and paste" is all you do, then you need to dream of something more creative

  • I could listen to this every day of my life. One of the most beautiful voices singing one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

  • I liken her to my all time favourite clasical singer Jussi Bjorling the Swedish singer. Liv Unni Larsson Undal has the same quality of ringing tones. Wonderful

  • that is a lovely way to describe her voice... ringing tones. It does have a ringing quality that is extremely beautiful.

  • Liv Unni Larsson Undall WHAT A VOICE! What a song! What a wonderful life to be allowed to hear such beauty.

  • Susan is great but if you think she is better than Liv Unni Larsson, you must be tone deaf

  • All singers Classical, Opera ,Musical and Jazz are in their prime at around this age. Check it out!

  • first you people spam the les miz TAC video and now this one?! for shame!

  • Stop copy and pasting you SHEEP.

Ok, I searched this after seeing Susan's thing too, but you know what? I like this version better - she is an amazing actress with a full beautiful voice. If you're going to comment, comment on the video to which you are posting, yeah?

  • Well said

  • i have no idea wut she i saying is she speaking english

  • I like Susan too but, sorry there is nothing to compare with Liv Unni quality of voice.
