It happened while he wasn't around to stop it and we weren't around to see. Making it all so after the fact makes it so much worse than if they had shown it happening because we can only wonder about what Rita went through before she died.

Well Dexter Morgan, Rita forgot her Passport and went back to get it. the writers were clever to leave it up to you how Arthur killed her but I imagine Arthur saw all the pictures of Rita and the kids and continued his ritual of killing mothers, plus it was a way of getting back at Dexter. Season 5 comes out next month so im pretty amped to find out what Dexter does...

@TheLeoCanal Actually Rita and the baby unlocked something in Dexter, if you saw the scene when George King (The palm tree trimmer) had Dexter tied up to the desk, Dexter had a long talk with his imaginary Harry and said that he actually felt something that he had never felt, with the baby coming along and all. So Rita wasn't just his door too looking like a normal person, he was actually emotionally connected with her, even if it was a small feeling, he genuinely loved her.
I was like "ok Dexter time to wake up from your dream.." "any second now.." "OH MY GOD SHE'S DEAD!!!" craziest end to anything I've ever watched. It felt like someone close to me died, I was upset!

Rita was a pain in the arse anyway.
Always bossig Dexteraround.Started out all sweet and doe-eyed than as the series went on she became an annoying nag.
I especially wanted to nipple-cripple her when she still expected Dexter to see to the baby of a night after he had been working all day and had an exhaustion-related carcrash.

@krsforever **Warning Spoilers** If you saw, Arthur met Dexter in the Police Station, Arthur now knew Dexter was... Well Dexter Morgan, Rita forgot her Passport and went back to get it. the writers were clever to leave it up to you how Arthur killed her but I imagine Arthur saw all the pictures of Rita and the kids and continued his ritual of killing mothers, plus it was a way of getting back at Dexter. Season 5 comes out next month so im pretty amped to find out what Dexter does...

@Smellychimp91 1st of all Season 5 is already out... soon season 6 will be on air. 2nd Yes I know probably Arthur killed her, his style... the Recorded message and everything, BUT I mean... they wasted so much time at showing with details how the killers kill their 5 minute victims and a MAIN character is dieing and they don't even mention anything about it? Atleast Arthur could of said... I got present for you, before Dexter kills him... or SOMETHING... COME ON... I am disapointed thats it.

@krsforever I meant on DVD, Its not out here (GB) until September, I dont have Showtime or Virgin Media so I have to rely on DVD boxsets. Im just saying what I imagine happened, I believe it makes sense and is whats most likely happened, If you think about it Arthur was on his second victim of his cycle. a mother that gets murdered in a bathtub and he knew Dexter lived where he did, it fits. I wanna disagree about tipping the viewer off about Ritas death as I think it makes it more effective

@Smellychimp91 I know that it's 99.9 % posibility of Arthur, but just a simple hint like "I got present for you" wouldn't make it a huge spoiler about the end or something... no one would even think about that till the actual end, but it still would be more clear ending. Well season 5 is better than season 4 in my opinion... so enjoy it...

@TheLeoCanal Actually Rita and the baby unlocked something in Dexter, if you saw the scene when George King (The palm tree trimmer) had Dexter tied up to the desk, Dexter had a long talk with his imaginary Harry and said that he actually felt something that he had never felt, with the baby coming along and all. So Rita wasn't just his door too looking like a normal person, he was actually emotionally connected with her, even if it was a small feeling, he genuinely loved her.

I tear up every time I see this. :( I loved Rita, she was such a sweetheart, yeah she bitched a lot, what woman wouldn't when dating/marrying a man like Dexter? I mean come on, yeah when watching the show you're like 'Wow shes fucking annoying, I wouldnt do that, etc' but you don't know that. I loved her character so much, she was the opposite that completed Dexter.. :(
