when musicians enjoy a piece of music and feel like it wasn't done enough justice or whatever (they feel they could do better with something within a song) they take it and expand or elaborate on it.
whether this is the case or not, It's not like he copied a whole song or something
ZImmer loves the French Music, thats why he had some french themes in Inception. Im sure he listens to a buttload of music, it would make sense that some things sound similar. He probably has a billion of tunes in his head, some are his some may be from older music.
if you think that's interesting, definitely check out this video: /watch?v=UVkQ0C4qDvM it's very similar and is about the Inception score and is a huuuuge mindfuck
Not a big deal. Temp track love more than likely. Happens all the time in major and minor movies. Most likely Nolan temped the movie with that track, loved the sound, and told Zimmer to get close to it.
@mikewp1 This. Happens much more than people realize. Filmmakers frequently fall in love with temp tracks, often to the chagrin of creative composers.
Yes they do sound very similar. Same rhythmic pattern and same suspended chord played by the strings...damn Hans I was just beginning to respect you too
@majin2912 your going to lose respect for a great musician? he done the same thing with Nolan in inception and evidently this was intended as a nod to that film. its called an Easter egg a lot of movies have them and artists use them to sometimes make nods towards there upcoming projects.
you have a very good ear!

If people want to call someone a ripoff artist, look no further than John Williams. This, however, is far from it.

You wouldn't happen to have an mp3 of the track by any chance?

So where can you get the soundtrack to Edith et Marcel?
FXwakeboard 1 month ago
@FXwakeboard I got this track off a compilation of Lai's work - I believe it was an import because all the writing on it is in French.

@mikewp1 Other way around's more likely, Zimmer getting Nolan into it.
