Finally figured out after all these years who did this song. Thanks for posting. I remember it back, I think, in 1979 when Donna Summer's Bad Girls was so hot.
Actually, "Push" by One Way was release in the spring of 1981, I bought the 45. Everyone thought it was Cameo when it was first released. For some strange reason the radio stations never played the intro part where they say "Hi, One Way is back again, Push" and that's why people got confused in which group it was at first. Also, One Way did have a very big funky dance hit in 1979 featuring Al Hudson & Alicia Myers on vocals called "You Can Do It."
Why. Tell me what exactly is wrong with the word fuck, in the way that i used it? Which was as an exaggerated synonym of the word "ignorant" the word itself, is very taboo.
@bblnj13 OW WOW.. datz cool. nothin like da good ole vinyl sound. lolz. Man, i lived n Hawaii with my fave uncle and fam when he was stationd there back n da late 80z, i had ALOT of 80z albumz.. joind da navy from there and couldnt get them n my luggage. lolz. had to leave them behind.. BUT my uncle'z wife KEPT THEM long after they divorced and STILL playz them for her "in home" daycare kidz. they LOVE THEM. lolz..
Is someone there who can help me find a song I think came out between 1981-1985? I would say the style is funk, r&b or disco. The text goes something like: "We gotta dance, just me and you, it´s so romantic, let´s see what we can do, we won´t be late, we gotta date tonight" But what´s the group and titles name? Please, someone must know..
Cold cuts like this are in fact where new wave started, when tracks like this hit Europe the eventual result was a musical revolution that yielded A Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, Thomas Dolby, Depech Mode, etc.
u must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a litle 10 year old girl was raped and murdered in 1945. her body was not fund until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos 30 minutes the dead girl will appear in your room tonight and hant you and kil you. well you better start to copy and paste to be saved
If you were born between 70 and 80 you probably would remember this jam this is straight cookout music for all you youngsters who don't know about the real shit Learn!!!!!!!!
@76BomberGeez sho' u right..but I was born in '65 and I bought the album it's first day out at Cactus Records & Tapes...now THOSE were the GOOD DAYZ!!
We can bring this kind of music back to life IF we stop supporting the bull that they want us to hear. I DON'T SUPPORT THE BULL that they play on the radio.

@DeathSquadDesign Actually, the internet did exist in the 70's. I was sending mails via ARPA in 1973 and Fidonet in 1985, and was a DJ at a pretty well known underground NYC club from 80 - 89. I bet you're one of those kids that think the web is the net. Tim Lee invented html/tp, not the net. As for 70's music "sucking" you're obviously young, and don't realize that music is cumulative: anyone that doesn't understand the history of music and judges it on what's working today hasn't a clue.
I thank God I grew up with this real music and that my children are extremely aware of the difference and can truly appreciate music from 60s, 70s, 80s, etc.

@port2344chester Totally agree with you on this. Now it seems like the "garage band" mentality has taken over. Become rich and famous as soon as you can without the hard work of learning how to be a real musician.
YOU ARE SO ON POINT WITH YOUR COMMENT!!! Its really sad though, todays youth basically have to revert BACK to the music of OUR ERA for songs with substance!
@str8outtatexas1 u r soo rite,,,,im only 25yrs old but i grew up with all of this,,my family played it all,,its funny cuz ill b bumping all these jams in my car and older ppl r like how do u kno about that music,,its in my blood
@str8outtatexas1 This is the music that also introduced helluva crossover, our generation of music "PUSH"ED the limit, and we wound up with a President that has changed world history...so what is going on? It was an era that the President also learned....
@DeathSquadDesign your so fucking stupid genius. it short so i don't run out of characters. i can't believe your dumb ass can't "see" that. just by reading your username you sound like a young thug,if not get a life professor.i just finished a 4 page essay on "when dumb people try to correct meaningless comments" if your not doing anything give me your address so i can send "you" a copy, so you can check my punctuation.get off the internet thug.
Kids today have no appreciation for the good music because they obviously didn't grow up on it. Today's parents play what's on the radio today and that in turn seeps into their kids impressionable minds. I have to thank my mom and pops for providing me with only the best R&B that the 60's, 70's, and 80's had to offer. I don't even listen to the radio today for music because it so terrible, never will it be good again, that's truly a tragedy.
@str8outtatexas1 Your comment ten months ago was and still is on point...but the funny thing is that they dont even care. This world has made many of our babies hopeless, dull and hateful. We must start to saturate our babies with love and all that is pleasant and good in an effort to bring back some hope as well as creativity.
@str8outtatexas1 im only 24 but i feel you. the music i grew up to became the bullsh!t today that has everyone selling drugs , shooting and killing others, not going to college, not obtaining a career and getting into some kinda trouble with the law. messing up our futures. its kinda like a conspiracy against us by someone with higher power.
baby u right aint no party like an old school party where has the music gone. all we hear now is cussing and killing and where my ho at! pleas bring back that classic music that reminds u of easier times or what seemed like easier times. continue to feel the funk people.we need an escape route now days peace and 1 love mega sherryann!
I think the general consensus here seems to be that great funky like this are sorely missed. And it's true, they really don't make jams like this anymore.
damn i remember my uncle use to bang this when i was a kid in the late 80's.he'd ride his impala through the hood smokin weed and drinkin schlits malt liquer and ride around hollerin at females talkin about i was his son.i remember dude would be high as fuck laughin pumpin the brakes at the red light to the song.damn i miss how miami was in the 80's and 90's. there was less killing and more chilling
Everyone says todays music is pretty sad compared to even 60's 70's 80's, and I agree. Vivrant Thing was pretty hot,I liked Mystikal, and that song Brown Sugar, but what else? Britney Spears? lol What happened?
I had been looking for this song since 1985. I heard it in 82 and didn't know who sang it. It was the first song I heard when I landed in the USA from Mexico.
This is going to be random, but I'm only 15 and all these old funk songs are so much better than the new gangster rap in my generation. Thank you one way, new edition, Zapp and Roger Troutman, and every other person who affects me with your music. May all who passed away live in peace. Thank you.
I remember cruising to this in Salinas, Ca. Fun times meeting everyone in the McDonalds parking lot, deciding which back road party would be better.....the whole time listening to this...comparing bass....

@str8outtatexas1 im only 24 but i feel you. the music i grew up to became the bullsh!t today that has everyone selling drugs , shooting and killing others, not going to college, not obtaining a career and getting into some kinda trouble with the law. messing up our futures. its kinda like a conspiracy against us by someone with higher power.
aceboogie0163 8 months ago
@str8outtatexas1 hey i agree with you.....kids these days dont know real music or fun......

I think the general consensus here seems to be that great funky like this are sorely missed. And it's true, they really don't make jams like this anymore.

Push it in the groove! My style of funk! Too bad modern groups can't jam the way they did 20 years ago.

Everyone says todays music is pretty sad compared to even 60's 70's 80's, and I agree. Vivrant Thing was pretty hot,I liked Mystikal, and that song Brown Sugar, but what else? Britney Spears? lol What happened?
stankology 2 years ago
I had been looking for this song since 1985. I heard it in 82 and didn't know who sang it. It was the first song I heard when I landed in the USA from Mexico.

This is going to be random, but I'm only 15 and all these old funk songs are so much better than the new gangster rap in my generation. Thank you one way, new edition, Zapp and Roger Troutman, and every other person who affects me with your music. May all who passed away live in peace. Thank you.
