Right out of the gate, you got it wrong. The New Deal made the 1929 depression worse. It was our entry into World War II which ended the depression.

I see the parallel you are wanting to draw with current events, and I should start by saying that an end to the Iraq war probably would help us immensely at this point.

That said, history has my back on this one. The Great Depression ended in 1939, the same year the war started. The war ended in '45, and we were already one of the two economic superpowers by that time.

Ok so at the start of WWII what we did was borrow money and began massive production which increased employment of US citizens, putting money in peoples pockets thus stimulating the economy an moved us out of the depression.

So if more money is pumped into this new deal and ceates jobs it'll have the same effect as the begining of WWII. Looking at the time line it looks like the new deal worked but only because a massive amount of money was being pushed into it.

actually right out the gate spending helped in the New Deal. When recovery began, critics of the expenditures wanted the budget balanced and so spending stopped. WWII did help with spending again, and ultimatel recovery. We cannot worry about spending in the short term. In the long term our spending should be on the production for the future, infrastructure and clean energy are great starts.
