Man they sound good, so much better then a freakin turbine. The second boat sounds a little off song. Oh hell yea, a front engine boat, damn she's pretty, all boats should look so good. I live near Madison Indiana, perhaps you've heard of it. They race unlimiteds up there once a year. I've been thinking, hydros would be more exciting if they ran on a track with banked turns, like Daytona has. All you need is a standing wave on each end, or a whirl pool, yea, that'd be exciting.
@DaSH3iKsta, I saw this boat in 2001 in Valleyfield when Jeff beat Jean, both boats were really strong all weekend until Jean threw a prop in the final. The owner of the boat at the time was Daniel Mercier (Pavage Chenail ) the kisck ass paint job was done by GART. Daniel is teaming up with Ghislain Marcoux next year in GP
There will be at least 10-12 ACHA GP boats that could win on sundays next year
@IanJR7499, yes, you're right !! We hope to see 13 GPs next year with the new Henderson hull 2012 (probably The new Crush of Huey Newport). They said in a recent conference with Ghislain Marcoux and Daniel Mercier that they would do 3 différent qualifications (A-B-C) with an average of 4 boats by race. That will be very interesting in the future program. The growing of hydroplane here in Valleyfield is keeping up !!!
my bet on Jeff Richards, as far as I know Bert wasn't driving for the Pavage Chenail team back then.
Right now Jeff and Bert are sharing the driving seat of the new DeepWater Special. ^^
By the way, the lauterbach at the end, was it an old Peter Knight boat? (I assume the video was recorded in Australia/New-Zealand since the Warlord was there that's why I ask ^^)
To answer to your question, the 1996 Auld/Rollason boat is the the sister ship of the 1991 Peter Knight's Boat. I'm from Valleyfield (Québec), but i know that right now in 2008 (New Zealand) this boat still race on the name of Mathemagic and Peter Knight's boat is for sale.
Is the boat from 1991 actually the boat who came here in Valleyfield in 1988 or is it a totally different boat? Because from what I remember they look very similar. If I remember correctly Peter's boat looked shorter in real life.
Again I was 3 years old when the world championship occured haha!
It would be totally awesome if the 1988 boat would be on sale! (If you want to continue this discussion in french, there is no problem :D)
The driver of GP101 was Grant Harrison. This boat won many races it was entered into, yet in 2005 the boat had a major crash during a warmup and was never put back on the water again.
@dasnaksta The second boat showed here was present in Valleyfield, Quebec. I believe called the 'Thunder pumper' He raced in a killer heat against Tom kropfield who hadn't had much success at the time, but had an amazing race who thrilled all there. The heat was neck and neck when there was some kind of lane issue towards the end that allowed Kropfield to pull ahead. The footage is fantastic...............find it!!!!!!!

These time trials are awesome, if you have any other ones feel free to post them ! :D
I'll try to film them in Valleyfield in a couple of days, since a couple of Grand Prix hydroplanes (new boats mostly) are coming back this year.
