I've always thought (since first reading "Tom Jones") the "author" would be the deadpan when it comes to humor. I like the notion of Fielding's persona being absolutely serious in the digressions; they really make the book hilarious. His treatment of literary criticism is priceless, but here he seems like a jokester too eager for a laugh; the commentary seems, to me, more funny and true when taken without clowning. I still can't wait to finally see this.

I fear the movie can never be as good as the book.Some critics even critisise the book for a few gaps in the storyline which have not been fully worked out by the author.nevertheless,I think the humanity of the author,his sense of morality and the joyous ending of the book which should delight anyone with a heart!can only truly be expressed in writing and anyone who wants to experience this should read the book!The movie can't replace the novel and one ought to read the book for the real deal.
