  • Ironic how he wrote a song called "Leaving on a Jet Plane" 30 years before it happened.

  • John, I know you're reading this in heaven but your music will last forever!

  • When are you coming out with another John Denver DVD? I thought you had started one with the shots of him in the 70's at the beach that you had last year.

  • PBS should this Dvd last night on their station and what a thrill it was to see John playing but what I didn't like was, they were asking for support to join WNED as a sponsor, We all love John Denver's music and that the way it should be. RIP In God's peace John,I will always be a fan.

  • Thank you for this collection

  • This is probably my favorite song of his. I was just thinking about John Denver recently, and your invite showed up.

  • John Denver...truly one of the greats." He lost a friend but kept his memory.." .just how I feel...rest in peace somewhere in the heavens.." and listen to the casual reply"

  • Nicely said.

  • :*)

  • That was in reference of a friend of his that came to visit him in Colorado and was killed on Denver's motorcycle.

Denver was one of the VERY FEW (Elvis Sinatra, Streisand) that was born with a "pitch perfect" voice - he actually talked and laughed ON KEY - something that is VERY RARE in humans!!!!!! Throught hard work and training - you can only put a shine on a voice like that - it is perfect from birth - and it NEVER leaves!!!

  • He is a great singer, however, contrary to popular belief, he was NEVER really an Army Sniper in Vietnam.

  • davida3606

No, he was not. That was Mr. Rogers.

  • According to US Army records, neither John Denver nor Mr. Rogers was ever a Sniper in Vietnam.

Army records say that neither one was ever in the US military during Vietnam or at any other time.

  • I know that. It was just a joke. The only person you would suspect less of being an Army sniper in Vietnam than John Denver would be Mr. Rogers!!

  • WOW - I have not heard that one for DECADES!!!!!

That was one of the VERY FIRST Internet rumors - and it was actually impossible!!!!! Denver's eye site - he had a "lazy eye" and in would NEVER focus - and that would NEVER allow him to be in ANY branch of the service - much less give him a gun!!!!! Also at age 17 - a lawnmover accident cut 2 toes off his right foot - and the American military service does NOT allow that - you gotta have 10 fingers and 10 toes - or you ain't getting in!!!

  • @Earthlinked I know the lawnmower cutting off a couple of JD;s toes is true but......I don't believe the lazy eye story at all..JD possessed a Commercial Pilot Certificate but even above that he held a Learjet type rating....there is no way in the world he could have an eye that "wouldn't focus" and be such an advanced pilot. He bought his Lear in 1975 and owned it and did the majority of the flying in it until he died. In 1986 he had over 1500 hours in his Learjet alone.

  • My brother has "lazy eye" (which can be orreted with glasses) and he has been an airline pilot for about 15 years!!!

Also - he rarely flew his lear jet - preferring to have a few beers after each concert (that is in his book).

And by 1986 he had 2450 flight hours - also in hsi bio - that he wrote.

  • @Earthlinked You might notice that I stated in his Lear alone he had 1500 hours...told to me by JD himself. And he did fly his Lear himself a great deal and he preferred to do do.....even after his shows that evening...but I never saw him partake in a beer before doing the flying. Lazy eye thing I'd have to check in but I still don't buy that. I too am an ATP.

  • @Earthlinked I stand corrected on the "Lazy eye" subject...The FAA states you can get your ATP with a lazy eye as long as you have a waiver (SODA)..they even went as far to state that Delta has a captain that is legally blind in one eye and flies for them with a waiver!!

  • @Earthlinked Internet rumours are funny things, aren't they? The sniper one is too preposterous to be offensive, but the one that galls me is the odious rumour that JD hated Jehovah's Witnesses & threw'em out.Snopes theorizes JD (or some 1 else) was going to sing the anthem & advised JWs in the audience that as they might find it offensive,it might be a good time to take a break.JD HATED bigotry, racism,& intolerence so its absurd.Alas,go to a JW site, lots of 'em HATE JD cos of this heinous LIE.

  • @Shambolic67 Sometimes - for unknown reasons - roumors simply sprout wings and take flight!!!!! I've always liked the one where John Denver was a sniper in Vietnam and sang of childrne becasue he orphaned so many in Vietnam!!! Of course this is impossible - his eyesite was 40/400 (legally blind is most states without corrective lenses) - plus he cut 2 toes off his right foot at the age of 17 in a lawymover accident!! The US Army does not take people with only 8 toes - NEVER!!!!

  • sniff i barly know him but he is my fav singer go john

  • Hello SuperChuck3. Do not misinterpret what I am saying. I have nothing against music played in clubs, but that music all changed in the 90's. The few lyrics were replaced by senseless bass, which is enough to make you go deaf. If you intend going deaf, do so, but with good taste, dammit !!

  • I would meekly thnaks to whom it may concren that one who sent me this nice song... in which it's harking back me to John denver, it's medlodiuos and nice

    mostly thanks!

  • Believe it or not i myself and my friend Irfan has listened to him ( John Denver)singing in the Hindukush and Korakuram ranges.

  • He would be 65 if he was still alive.

  • Amazing really.John will always be in his 30s & 40s in my mind. Where did the time go?

  • If the angel exist, his voice would be like this

  • R.I.P John Denver R.I.P :(

  • This man could sing. Funny, he reminds me a lot of Jim Croce and Cat Stevens. WHY do we have to put up with crap music when the DJs could be playing THIS ?? Payola plays a part maybe ??

  • right, there are good ones and the garbages, this is one we should keep

  • You know I agree with you, this perfect music beats the shit they play at clubs or dances anyday. But when you're dancing with friends, what gets you more pumped? One of those "songs" (if you can call them that) or this beautiful one. This one you'd listen to with your girlfriend together, not really in a club...

  • Beautiful! I have most of his albums, one or two from 1969, and I still play them to this day. As Anjimom says, always awesome!

Thats why I love hiking in the mountains.
