They ushered in new eras of art in America. JAckson Pollock helped bring the "New York School" style of art to the forefront; Warhol brought us Pop Art. He showed us that even mundane brand labels can be used artistically. Look at his version of the Last Supper with the Wise Potato Chip symbol.
Art induces the emotions of love and/or hate. Pseudo-art induces an erection or bowel movements. If it tickles your dick or stomach, then it's porn or pseudo-art or whatever you want to call it. If it tickles your brain, then it's art. For example, a McDonald's ad is food-porn.
You are blurring the lines, my friend. Most pornography is not art, little art is pornography. I am a pervert (adaptable nymphomaniac with acquired kinks) so I do like most forms of porn. I also have a little artistic taste so calling pornography art is like calling gansta' rap, cry-over-your-beer country, and fingerpating art.
Most porn follows a set formula and once you get my age (35), you find it all the same and pales in comparison to your own imagination.
I guess nudity and sex don't have that much of a stigma for me. I've been looking at porn off and on since I was about 12. I don't think it's had any BAD effects. If anything, it's made me into a more accepting person.
Neither have a stigma for me. I just remembered something, your location might use the word "pornography" like they did when I briefly lived in the Bible Belt. Pornography and nude pictures are two different things. One is tasteful and the other is... not.
Comparing nudity to pornography is like comparing a nude beach to a kinky orgy.
I keep forgetting that we here in the USA our terms are loosly affected by location.
It actually IS art. During medieval Japan, there were alot of artists who drew pornography (yes, in that ancient Japanese art style), and it was considered high art. They drew murials and such.
If anyone is against the idea, I would assume they're feminists.
Not necessarily. A lot of feminists are actually for porn because porn is primarily dominated by females. Example: A woman in porn makes a lot more money than a man.
Some feminists are for porn because porn doesn't restrict female sexuality.
And porn dates back much farther than medieval Japan. I've heard of it going back as far as ancient Greece.
We get our word "pornography" from an ancient word "pornaeos" or something like that.
The spelling and language of origin might be incorrect. It might be ancient Rome and Latin. I'm not 100% sure, but I know it goes back to ancient times, at least, and probably much farther back than that.
Pornography is as old as civilization, but the concept of pornography did not exist until the Victorian era. In early times, porn was just a subset from religion and art, and was not treated differently. However, it wasn't during the medieval times, (that's why i mentioned Japan) did the concept of pornography come into play :D
In a sense, they could be. However, there is a logic behind the role of a woman portrayed as sex symbol, and such in porn. Most feminists (out of knowing alot) believe that porn does, indeed, demonizes the female reputation of being a sex symbol.
Yes, many woman do get paid highly, however, thee is a symbolic view of it as well.
That would be equivolent to making a painting of the mona lisa, thrusting a stick through the head, and putting a big chunk of elephand dung on the stick (Which someone has done before.) There is good art and bad art, of course it all boils down to your tastes...
i do believe pornography is art and not necesarily pornography but mad sex between a man and a woman

Porn is anti-art. Dada is (sometimes inadvertent) art.
Philip Glass is an artist; Britney Spears is shit. Dali IS surrealism. Fnord.
Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock--trash.
There. :)

I must defend Warhol and Pollock.

The difference between art and pseudo-art:
Art induces the emotions of love and/or hate. Pseudo-art induces an erection or bowel movements. If it tickles your dick or stomach, then it's porn or pseudo-art or whatever you want to call it. If it tickles your brain, then it's art. For example, a McDonald's ad is food-porn.

You can call pornography art - there is no engraved definition for the word art. To you, art may have a broader definition.
Just like the word "marriage," it may mean different things to us.

Exactly.

I can never say that about art.

If you've seen one gay porn film, you've seen them all.

I prefere straight and lesbian porn but I do watch gay porn if the actors are hot enough. Nice try on trying to insult me. :P
I don't do shame, guilt, regret, ect. My stance on porn is unchanged... it applies to all. It is fun but it ain't art.

If pornography is art, then hashish is nutritious.

I try to avoid the girls that hate pornography. If they object to just pictures of nudity, then they definitely can't handle what I'd do.

A nudist and a porn actress are two different things.

Yeah... I guess the women rights movemnet does take a bit of a hit whenever a woman takes a load in the face on camera.

skywolf1969 4 years ago
Now that's art. Of course... I could just be saying that because it's Nina Hartley and old porno is the best.

True. I think the word "art" could easily be substituted for the word "beauty" in the old adage "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
