what would you give to be able to deliver a rousing, uplifting, inspirational speech to raggle of men before leading them into a battle where the outcome is surely a bad one?
They probably knew they were going to die going in to battle, but there courage and heart prevailed as they won the battle of st. crispen (Battle of Agincourt) in 1415 outnumbered 5 to 1
Aw he'd be thrilled, I'm sure! Might take a restraining order out on us four after seeing the various comments and conversations we have about kidnapping him, paying him for 'other' performances, and riding into his local park on bikes and horses, but....
Now this is my favourite Ken/Shakespeare-film (especially together with his notes in "Beginning")! I could watch the film (and this marvellous vid) forever. The beautifully lit first appearance of Henry V. always makes me shiver. The Harfleur speech - unbelievably fantastic. And my personal highlight: Ken's pronouncing of "set" in "We will...play a set" - I could scream every time he does it! Well - I do scream :-D Thanks for uploading this new masterpiece of yours, TOF!
They chopped out a lot from the original script. They left out the part about:
"I am not covetous for gold, nor care I who doth feed upon my cost,
It yearns my me not if men my garments wear,
such outward things dwell not in my desires,
but if it be a sin to covet honor, I am the most offending soul alive."

Hey...ummm..Frenchy? You know that Henry and his men won the battle? Out- numbered 5 to 1.
mwoodward221 2 years ago 2
yes I know, but what I meant was that they almost knew they would lose it was so assured
frenchstudentA 2 years ago
Sorry French, I assumed wrongly. You are correct.

@frenchstudentA, to inspire men the way this speech was intended to inspire the host of England... there is nothing I would not give.
