what coils are you running im looking to do almost the same thing corp 14bolt and d60 but i will be running 39in red lable krawlers im looking for ideas on coils becuz nothing i find online looks good i might just talk to my buddys over at rocksolid performance theyve got a xj and a zj
I've been searching You Tube for built ZJ's for quite awhile. I can't believe I haven't come across your Jeep until now. I'm tyring to get ready for a trip to Moab in a month. Unfortunately, I don't have any real fab skills yet... I just subscribed, and look forward to seeing more of this beast. Awesome!
man that thing is a very nice rig ( lil farther than i would a gone but your also floating over obsticals that i didnt think a zj would make) that looks to have a lot of work in it
Do you think a 4.3 Vortec would have the balls to pull a buggy with either Dana 60's F/R or your set up with 35/1450 Rockers? I like the set up.. but the buggy will also be street legal so I don't want to have to gear it so low I will have to be bouncing off the rev-limiter just to cruise at 60 down the highway! ha VERY VERY VERY nice Jeep btw!
@braaup Thanks, I appreciate it. A Chevy 4.3 would have no problem at all with 35's put 4.56's or 4.88's in the axles and you'll be around the stock cruising RPM. Dana 60's are a little overkill for 35's though, unless you plan to run 38's or bigger later. A Dana 44 would be plenty strong enough.
@4wdFactory Do you think I'd be fine running stock Yota's (minus gearing) with a 4.3? I can get those cheap but I don't know if they'll hold with the 35's......
@braaup Stock Yotas will hold up to 35's no problem with a 4cyl engine. With a 4.3L you will want to have a V6 third member in the rear as well as upgraded Birfield joints in front. The Yota axles are comparable to a Dana 44 they have a slightly smaller ring gear but have slightly bigger axle shafts (measured in thousandths) also they have the stronger closed knuckle design as opposed to a D44 with ball joints.
@4wdFactory So would you recomend a mild built Yota axles for 4.3 w/ 35/1450's? I am not going to be just rock climbing by the way, mild jumps (2-3 feet of air), and fast trail riding.. Are there any year Yota pickup that is better than others for axles? Than you soo much for all your responses! You're such a big help!
No problem, Yep they will handle that no problem. However any time your going to be jumping you will need to put trusses on both of the axles to keep them from bending. I would also gusset the inner knuckle on the front also to keep from bending. All of that can be done with custom of aftermarket parts for cheap.
@4wdFactory Do you sell the parts that you mentioned before for the Yota axles "Birfield Joint" or anything else I would need for them? (I could easily make the trusses for the axles and the knuckle, no biggie at all)
@4wdFactory I am honesly SOO sorry for all the questions! I am just very new to the sport and if not often you find someone so willing to help out a newby! :)
I found a Birfield for a 4Runner on your site for $540 - is this the right one? In this case, if I get both axles for $400 and get the Birfield for $540 which will equal $940 If I can get two Dana 60's for like $1000+/- Honesly why wouldn't you go with a Dana 60 so it'll be stronger with less modifacations?
Well its completely up to you what you want to run. If you can find a couple Dana 60's for $1000 that will be a good deal. But your question was would Yotas handle 35's and jumping, yes no problem. Dana 60's would also handle it but they are overkill for 35's. Another thing to note is that a stock Dana 60 has 30 spline outer axles same as a D44 and Yota. So if you want to make it stronger your looking a t around $500 for a 35 spline upgrade. Or you can buy used parts.
@mikesadass Thanks again, I'm using a np231 with a one ton CV rear shaft for now. I plan to swap out my POS automatic for a nv4500 and an atlas or Stak t-case. If you can get away from the dana 30 you'll be well off. I can't even count on both hands how many time I broke mine both on and off road. You could sell it to an S10 guy they love em.
Wow! Nice ZJ, I have a 5.9ZJ locked front and rear on 33's and 4.56 gears so I respect your rig. You are defiantly pushing next level shit and I would love to get behind the steering wheel of yours. Did you do all the fab work. is that a custom Long arm bumpers and sliders. Well, you sure do have one BA ZJ , Good luck with
@mikesadass Thanks man, I've done all of the bumpers, suspension, axles, etc....myself with the use of a friends shop. I like it now but I think I'm going to move the rear axle back and lift it a little more. Its only about 5-6" of lift. the only reason I've kept it low is because I drive is on the street still.
Yes its part of my Air system for airing up my tires and ARB. This truck is still a street legal truck so when I'm done wheelen I'll air up the tires and drive home.
5.9l right?

5.13's in the axles 2.72 in the T-case, would have gone with 5.38's but they didn't make them when I built this truck.
