I am gonna get this amp soon,i play very different stuff like led zeppelin,g'n'r,black sabbath, saxon, jimi hendrix,zz top, eagles, megadeth, sepultura, exodus, metallica etc. the question is: do you use any fuzz pedals or boosters on that engl, and which is the coolest? by the way, it sounds very cool for hard rock and heavy metal. how it is for more vintage blues/classic rock, and jazz? i have different guitars: Vintage VS6 SG, Squier Classic Vibe 60 Stratocaster, Ibanez RGA 32 and Jackson DK2 Dinky.
Well done my young bro but it'd be great to hear out of a "standar" type of mic rather than camcorder mic but still sounds pretty good. I take it you are happy with amp. There's one for sale on CL near me at what appears to be a bargain so your vid helped nearly sell it for me. I have a Mesa DC-5 and am thinking your amp may be more my style. Look forward to more vids from you. Rock on.........
Nice...are you happy with the ESP EDWARDS as I'm thinking of buying the same one however with the gloss (white binding) finish. Do you have any negatives about the guitar?
BTW, I like ENGL too and I have the Savage 120, great amps.
@5150VanAlien - I sold the Edwards a long time ago, but they are great guitars for the money, The necks are fairly chunky more 50s than 60s, depending on what you like that could be a negative. Overall I really liked mine, the build quality was great, the ebony board was nice and slick and the pickups sounded killer
I own this amp. This video hasn't even scratched the surface. If you want this marvelous amp to give it's best, you should crank it up. Let those tubes sing their grawlish voice to you.
Your vids are awesome, but they would be MUCH better, if you turn up the volume of the speaker (or something like that, so you don't here the guitar picking, just the amp)
Your a damn good player man. I'm hard pressed to get one of these guitars. Do you think I should. Do they feel like Gibsons? I want one with EMGs in it. Thoughts?
I own a real Gibson. A 1990 Les Paul Studio. The new Gibsons of today, aren't even real Gibsons so that's an impossible feat now a days anyway. I'd rather have an affordable replica than an over priced one.
the best lp u can get is a heritage afte a little research i have done. They are not cheap but with reasonable price u can get the best lp. (iplayed lp standard and custom vs heritage h150 all within 3 hours)
I got the money for the screamer, but I don't know, if it is worth it and if i probably should buy a cheaper one. How good is it for playing mostly Metal (like the old albs from Metallica, Master of Puppets etc.) but also hard rock/rock like ac/dc?
im thinking about getting one of those edwards. and im stuck between a cheery burst standard and the black custom. I play alot of zep and gary moore. It seems like all my favs play standards but i LOVE the look and ebony fretboard of the custom. Is there a significant difference in tone? If you would help me choose dat would be great thanks!
i've never played the Edwards Stds so I can't tell you to be honest. I liked the ebony fretboard on the custom and the binding - but i reckon the std would sound great too
Ehi man you're great!!!!!I've the same Amp but i use a Gibson les paul studio with seymour duncan alnico pro II pickup!!! The sound of this amp is great!!!!Thanks for the video!
Excellent video. I also have a Les Paul Custom and have been looking for a great high gain amp where it doesn't sound muddy. This seems like the way to go. Cheers.
I tried that buddy and even with the VLS pot turned all the way up there is too much of a volume jump for solos. I guess in theory when pot is turned fully up the switchable vol difference should be the same???
I need to get the schematics and get an engineer to re-calibrate it....
hi Steve - yeah i had to mess around with the vls on mine to get the balance right. From what i can work out the VLS is the master volume for the whole amp, and how much you adjust it is the difference between the real volume and the "normal" non boosted volume. If it helps I have mine set all the way towards the footswitch cable and then back a 1/4 of a turn - this seems to work pretty well for me. I'd try to set it at gig volume though to get it bang on.

Damn man, nice gear, and nice playing, I just wish your mic was closer to the amp than your strings. Nice job overall though, thanks!

Which would work better with a Marshall?
Super Distortion/Paf or Jb/59.
Which would work better with a Mesa Boogie?

Oh yeah. The guitar is a Gibson USA Les Paul. With 10's string.

in all honesty, to your taste in sound/quality/feel, would you go for a new les paul standard these days, or an sc245? rock on!!

Gibsons quality is pretty damn poor right now, Edwards are way superior most gibsons.
It's not like it's a cheap brand.

Cool, I am lucky to own an ENGL SCREAMER, too. But your strings are louder than the amp-signal.

Hey, thanks for the great demo!
I was wondering if you could tell your opinion on this: Do you think that the amp is loud enough to play with a drummer?
Nykain 3 years ago
definitely - 50w all valve is seriously loud.
It would sound more beefy at high volume with a cab too.
Moltisanti 3 years ago
Does this amp come with a footswitch?
GuitarJax 2 years ago
no but a variety of Engl footswitches can be used with it - check out my other video for footswitch info
Moltisanti 2 years ago
You need a loud drum for this screamer buddy:) I'm using screamer just volume 1.5 or 2 on the stage.

Hey. You know the VLS tiny volume cut knob back of amp????
I cant seem to set it up with just a slight volume boost...The difference however I adjust it is way to great for gigs..
Any ideas please......nice playin
