I've been happy with mine for the last few months. Originally bought it as a lightweight backup to my 5D and 1Ds MKIII ... but I've been surprised how often I use this for shoots. Was using it with my 17-40L but just picked up a Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 for cheap. I only shoot RAW and run all photos through Lightroom 3, so never had any issues with photo quality, unless I push the exposure in post (greater capability in my 5D RAW files).

On another note

in this day & age the great 7D a 2009 release almost 3 Years Now,

DigitalRev do you have any idea when canon will finnaly come out with a much needed continuous Auto focus found in consumer compacts as well as Micro four thirds in order to use Video recording as its intended?

I'v always loved Canon but these simple features as internal Stereo Mic's without having to attach an external Mic both simply much needed features should be as standard after all its now almost 2012 :)

tho the 7D is not a full frame it still has a few new features that all 3 others dont ,,50D / 60D / 5D Mark ll ..& maybe does'nt take the place of 5D Mark ll simply because its full frame,..

@chevypowertogo The features of the 7D are definitely more sophisticated than the 50D. What he means is that Canon decided to introduce a totally new entry in the EOS range. So instead of upgrading to a 50D MK2, they started with the new 7D. Hens why it's not an upgrade from the 50D. If you're just looking for image quality (landscape, portraits, macro) I would stick with the 50D and get some really good L glass instead.

@anime0813 That's called an LCD screen. It basically tells you the aperture, shutter speed, iso, white ballance etc. The four buttons can also be used to change the settings from that screen. You can use the finger dial (next to the shutter button) and the thumb reel (on the back) to do that. I would seriously advice you friend to read the manual, it really helped me... It would be a shame to have such a good camera and not know how to use its full potential.

@ricardo3326 I honestly don't think there will be a mk2 for at least another year, but that's just my guess. I've used this for parkour, fire spinning, macro etc and even had someone use it to film a thesis project. If it's one thing I regret, it's not buying good glass with it. There's nothing more irritating than having a DSLR with 8fps and a very advanced focusing system, only to use it with some cheap, slow lenses... Especially when they are not weather sealed and the camera is.

I mean, I love this little camera, I shot a music video with this camera and the image I was able to get from it was incredible, absolutely fucking awesome!
