Where did you get pearpc for powerpc linux? I can only find it for x86 windows/linux. Might try mac-on-linux (a ppc linux to ppc mac emulator) or this port of pearpc on my wii. Try mac-on-linux and see if it works for you.

Not that I'm aware of. It's possible to soldier RAM onto the PCB in the original Xbox system, but that's about it. You're stuck with what you get when you get a game console. That's why I'm a PC gamer.

@darrenbritton Uhh, the PS3 and 360 BOTH have PPC processors. The PS3 just happens to also have 8 SPEs unique to CELL, while the 360 is powered by 3 PPC cores entirely.

in fact, I once setup darwin (the core of OSX) to run a linux user-space (as in gnome + apps ) inside of OSX.

and if you take a look at X11 app and macports ~ you will soon realize the vast majority of linux software can (or could) run under OSX with little to no modification.

..it is OSX apps that are not portable.

Because with a linux os and the PS3 specs you turn your PS3 into a super computer where you can play every other game you think of (emulators and shit) or you can have a great developer workstation for a small price. A great gaming station plus a supercomputer, why not. Or just buy another one to use only as a computer, it will perform better than many in market.

Try running Red Hat or Suse Linux inside that, and you will notice it has the same processing power as a Pentium II 266 Mhz
