  • Surely this ought to be entitled "Räikkönen crashes with Alesi"

  • ppl who claim Kimi has no talent clearly nvr watch F1 b4.....

  • Glad to see them shake hands.

  • I would think it would be quite irritating to be touched by a/the corner worker(s) after you've just had an off. But it never fails. Whenever I see a driver get out of the car after a wreck, there's always a corner worker there touching the driver for some really odd reason. What's the need to touch the driver? I'd ask "Why are you touching my arm? I do know the way back to my pit box but I don't know you."

  • It took 2 seconds for raikkonen to destroy a beautiful Jordan and ruin Jeans last race what a langer!!

  • so Kimi crashed....what else is new?

  • I can't believe that so many are making excuses for Kimi by claiming this was a wheel failure.

Kimi clearly put his wheel on the curb in the Dunlop corner and spun. This was a simple mistake by a then-inexperienced driver.

Kimi was fantastic - but this was a rookie's mistake.

  • @altroval

ur just blind.... watch the video again and stop at 0.02 and see what happens to the suspension.... god i hate idiots who have no clue what happened and judge ppl, which they dont even know...

  • @altroval Look at 0:03sec, and u can tell me your story once again.

  • Kimi is ignorant? so every racing driver should doing a smiley face and say hi to the fans and cameras all the time even after the big crash? They go for race not a clown to make you laugh, we watch them race not making friends here and there. You guys poisoned by the school books as tigers and lions in there were all smiling to you fools!

  • @HOOMARKTUBE That was alesi's last race at least he could have gone there and apologised. He is a selfish bastard

  • @HOOMARKTUBE lol kimi acted like a spoiled kid. He ruined Alesi's (a MUCH better driver than him) last race. Drivers used to be friendly. Not these fucking robots nowadays that want to kill eachother. And compared to Senna Prost Piquet, Gilles, Mansell, drivers nowadays act like robots that aren't human, barely talk to eachother, and like to fight. They went to race, and they were the best at racing, and they were still friends out of the track.I hope you Enjoy today's shit f1 then

  • @NOXXism I repeat and the video shown that is Kimi's CAR failed, not Kimi ruined Alesi's race for god sake. Robots like you ppl wants him to apologize (of what??) and smile to all the cameras and shake hands to the "victim" right after. Btw you claimed he is a much better driver and why he made a junior mistake by pointing the car towards the scene? Thats not the racing line at all! Have you ever racing? that's the left hand corner!

  • i thought finish drivers are the most engaging and lovely drivers, just like Mika...Kimi is an ignorant prick with no talent...

  • @Cassnet Lulz. Kimi is one of the most naturally gifted racers to ever come to Formula 1. His talent and supreme skill are undeniable. I understand that you may not like him for whatever reason, but to call ANY driver who makes it to F1, let alone a World Champion, is ignorant on your part.

  • @Cassnet Of course. He has no talent. That is why he nearly won the world championship in his third year in Formula 1.

  • Alesi escapou por pouco do bico do carro de Haikkonen.

  • V10s sound amazing!

  • Alesi was a true gentleman. Raikonnen was just arrogant

  • This accident is the symbol of the jean's carreer, faster than others but sent off by esternal problem

  • yes I remember this, It was the last race of Alesi hahahaha

  • That's one galant exit from F1. Saying to future F1 WC: "Are you ok? Don't worry, you'll be fine"

  • ever crashed at 250?anybody ..its no wonder kimi was a lil dizzy..

and alesi is alesi like always..fast and furious in car but a real fellow driver mate off track..

  • it wasnt even Alesi's fault, whys he saying sorry?

  • it wasnt even Alesi's fault, whys he saying sorry?

  • alesı ' hey kımı are you alrıght'

    kımı 'ya ı thınk so'

alesı 'good because you just smashed ınto a wall. see ya'

  • Kimi sucks

  • 0:57 ufff, this was very close to his head... a little to serious for his last race. thanks god they were fine.

  • Era più facile evitare Kimi che colpirlo Ma tutto questo è Jean Alesi!

Jean-Jean-Jean Alesi, Jean-Jean-Jean Alesiiii, Jean-Jean-Jean Alesiii... ridateci Jean Alesiii!!!

  • kimmi dumb idiot !!! too cold

  • He thought that Kimi would go straight to the wall,...

Alesi may have lost the concentration when Kimi was about to crash...But a good lad there.

  • if only ferrari had the F2004 engine power in the 90s,,,i think jean could have reap plenty of WDC easily while schumacher would probably end up in benetton 4 many years haha

  • @szewei85

Engine power doesn't win races. Don't you know that?

A good chassis wins races, because it can harness the power of the engine. A great engine in a bad car wins nothing. BMW and Honda had to most powerful engines in 2004, not Ferrari. Unfortunately neither the Williams nor the BAR were good enough to benefit from that power, other than on circuits with long straights. And since Ferrari had bad cars in the early 90's it doesn't matter if they had the best engine.

    Geez. The ignorance

  • @szewei85

Example. Red Bull uses Renualt engines and are dominant. Lotus uses the very same Renault engine and are nowhere near Red Bull performance. And the Renault factory team is no match for the Red Bull either.

Btw, Sauber used the engine from the F2004 in 2004 and 2005, and look what that did to them. Nothing.

Oh, and Alesi had a chance to sign for Williams in 1991, at the time they were starting their dominance and had the best car. Instead he signed Ferrari. Big mistake.

  • instead of going around, he tries to go through :L

  • Kimi rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That accident looks a lot worse than it actually is. It's is usually pretty big if all four wheels come off after the impact like Kimi's did, off the top of my head I can't think of any other accident which resulted in that. Plus at 1:01, the Sauber's nose gets very close to taking Alesi's head off!

  • that was a pretty fucking high speed crash you could see raikkonen was shaken.

  • this was jean's last f1 race ever. he deserved more than that

  • @jiricekk86 Maybe I overreacted a bit. Ok. But Montoya said: "You fuckin idiot, you broke my fuckin head!" a couple of times, from what I remember.

Jean had good cars but never the one good enough to win races and championships.

  • @jiricekk86 Man, don't fuckin piss me off. I never said Alesi was a loser, in fact on the contrary. Either you know that and just try and taunt me, either you don't have the ability to understand what people mean saying simple words, and that is not my fault. So think before you write something!!!

  • k how did kimi spin on that? w as there some kind of problem

  • @jiricekk86 Kimi was not a looser, though. Loosers don't become F1 Champions...

  • @DePalmez *cough* Button *cough*

  • @ROONTANG Every rule has an exception, I heard... :)

  • look at the tyres jumping between other drivers,. also alesi was lucky becouse of the saubers nose in his cockpit.

last race of alesi was almost literally last race of alesi.

i think kimi was a bit shocked there and didnt think first that i gotta go handshake jean.

  • You have to understand that the initial reaction time is about 0.2 s, which is a lot of time when you're at that speed so close to the guy in front. If Jean could step on the brake and swerve to the left the very moment of Kimi's suspension failure, it would be OK. But that was not possible. Jean was VERY skilled and VERY experienced. BTW: The guys passing by the accident scene were MASSIVELY lucky not to get killed by the complete wheels.

  • a) There was NO way Jean could have anticipated and avoided that. Humans are not machines. b) Kimi's personality is Kimi's personality. He's a sort of a "shy" person, in a special way. He is not used to express emotions in a way most people are. If he was like most people, he wouldn't be World Champion, on the other hand... Look at Lewis. I have major reservations concerning his on track behaviour, but that's the way he is and if he fine tunes that in the future, I will accept him as a champion.

  • As the old saying goes, when a car in front spins, aim at it and it'll be gone by the time you get there.

  • FOR ALL OF YOU POSTING OPINIONS IF HE COULD AVOID IT OR NOT TRY TO BE IN HIS PLACE FOR A CHANGE AND WE WILL SEE YOUR REACTIONS TO AVOID IT. MAYBE HE FROZE MAYBE HE TRIED TO STEER TO THE RIGHT AND MAYBE HE DID BRAKE BUT EVEN THEY DO MISTAKES. IN THE END HE WENT TO KIMI TO CHECK HIM OUT AND SHAKE HIS HAND.

  • Little suspension failure but massive crash... This one could have been far worse.

  • Thank fuck wheel tethers have been improved in recent years. Look at the three wheels bouncing all over the place in this video, scary stuff after you've seen what debris can do (Henry Surtees, Felipe Massa).

  • 0:43

OMG !!! Irvine and Villeneuve close on dead :OOO

  • oops I meant Alesi :)

  • I think it was hard for Alese to get out of the car after that crash and then something comes to his mind like "It's my last race in Formula 1...."

  • if you look clearly, Kimi shooked Alesis hand a little. He was so disappointed about the retirement.

  • @JUBEast yep and i think he was still feeling the impact of the crash. it wasnt a small one.

  • Thank goodness one of those tyres didn't hit an oncoming driver...

  • Por poco y los neumaticos sueltos hacen lo mismo ke en el accidente de Henry. Surtees

  • The last person Massa wanted to see was Raikkonen. He wasn't sure if he would ever drive again - all he wanted was friends, loved ones and family. Not rivals - don't be an idiot.

Jean was the one who had to check on Kimi after their accident because Jean was fine and Kimi was sitting there with his head in his hands (I remember it from live, not from this video). I wondered too if he was hurt - he looked bad, but then when Jean came, Kimi sat up and looked better. It was scary tho.

  • even rivavals are supposed to pay a visit if someone has been close to death. its called decent behaviour. And sure Massa didnt care Kimi not visiting, he would expect that. There was no need for Jean to check Kimi, if it had been vice versa im sure Kimi would have just walked away. "Iceman" comes for a reason.

  • Are you writing to me? I was not speak of Massa :\

  • No, I was writing to Perussaataja, lol. Sorry for the confusion.

  • @Perussaataja

You don't know the personality and the reason why he didn't it. Why did not Schumacher visit Sennas funeral?! Gerhard Berger started hate him for this. But years later after they have spoken about it and Michael told him his reasons they became friends again.

  • @FreeYourMind911 i didnt claim that i knew why he didint, i just said that most people with any decency would have visited.

  • debris and wheels everwhere big wreck D:

  • Comment removed

  • look at the right wheel on 0:02

    Just a wheel failure again.

  • @nederlandsepizza It was a suspension failure, not a wheel failure

  • @nederlandsepizza

it wasnt the wheel, it was the left suspension, that broke.

  • kimi very close to cut alesis head off with the nose of the car from here

  • Alesi had the right attitude, a real gentleman.

  • alesi's last race was quiet sad to go out like this but it was a racing accident and there is not much you can do about it

  • Kimi was quite ignorant there. When I first saw this, I really thought he was going to go and shake hands with Alesi but he didn't. Eventually, Jean had to take the initiative. hmm....

  • I think was the first big wreck of Kimi career and you can see was scared after exit the car. But even after jean crash farther ahead he still walk up to Kimi and shake hand . Jean good guy. Kimi shake his hand and look away like he not care that this is how Jean career end. I not raikkonen fan but I think was just getting his head back together after big wreck.

  • @jraybay That seems reasonable alright.

  • @Bonzostar

alesi was like a noob and followed kimi off the track, when he could have easily turned slightly left and continue the race.

alesi was lucky that kimi wasnt seriously hurt

  • @rastamees Are you serious? Come on!!

At the start of Kimi's slide, he was actually touching the grass on the left. Alesi naturally tried to avoid this by going to the right, only for Kimi to go that way too. Only one result was possible, particularly at such high speeds.

  • @rastamees when Jean turned right, kimi´s car was spinning on left side of track, so turning left would have ment to turn straight towards spinning Sauber.

  • @Perussaataja

@ 0:32 you can clearly see how he just followed kimi, the road was wide open. its like he froze up or something.

  • @rastamees it looks very different from camera angle on the track level (not in this video), im not sure if its on youtube, but believe me, when jean was supposed to turn right, he would have turned directly towards Sauber. There was debate about this on Finnish F1 forum and the conclusion was it was accident which Jean couldnt avoid.

  • @rastamees... Not really, Alesi anticipated the crash trajectory of Kimi to stay within the track, so he steered on the grass to avoid him.. He just miscalculated his best option

  • @Barnakos

in my opinion alesi should have just slowed down a bit and everything would have been fine.

  • @Bonzostar i think kimi was so disapointed there because he crashed because of car, not his own fault

  • @Bonzostar Kimi shook hands with Alesi as you can see.. At 1:01 you can see that Kimi could have been seriously injured as Alesi crashed into the wall..

  • @Bonzostar

Think it's because Kimi was a little bit more shaken than alesi...I mean he spun like shit.

Don't think it was of unpoliteness.

  • @Bonzostar It wasnt being ignorant, he felt bad and needed to take a seat.\

His left rear suspension broke and crashed hard in the barrier.

  • @Bonzostar

    He was shocked!

  • @Bonzostar he may be shocked after such an impact!

  • @Bonzostar From camera car seemed alesi fault... Surely they explaned each other, kimi has always been a fair driver

  • @Bonzostar

    Kimi was quite shocked there.

  • @Bonzostar

i don't think he was ignorant, i think he was shocked. this must've his first big accident in F1 and as you watch him at 0:22 and 1:09 he looks quite shocked. and actually it wasn't his fault that alesi has hit him.

  • @Bonzostar Kimi was supposed to go shake hands with Alesi? He almost died because his car failed and Alesi crashed into him. God I hate all this crap people give to Kimi.

  • @GreenMindist I agree with the people who are saying Kimi was shocked. That is understandable. However, I can't agree with you in any way! Are you blaming Alesi for this? What was he supposed to do, jump over Kimi's car? There's a little thing that prevents that happening- called aerodynamics.

  • I remember watching this live and you can see just how close Jean Alesi came to being decapitated by Kimi's nose...

    Scary.

  • Almost is Kimis fault!

  • @MrBusfreakibk : its kimi's left rear tyre failure..

  • was a suspension failure guy

  • Tja solch fahrer gibt es leider nicht mehr die, meisten hauen einfach ab ohne sich zu entschuldigen. Eine nette geste von Jean Alesi

einer der unterschätzten F1 fahrern .

  • I remember watching this live. Great to see the Japanese fans give Jean a nice send off.

  • Alesi was a true gentleman, like mika hakkinen

  • It's funny but Alesi seems to miss the road by himself blinded by Raikkonen's car

  • There was no chance Alesi could have avoided that crash.

  • no actually you are totally blind, what jean does is he just performs this formality of checking if this youngster is ok, and walks away like he couldnt care less.. quite typical french behaviour. makes good person like me very sad.

  • Oliver Panis told that after his crash in Montreal -97 (where he broke his legs) Jean was the only F1 driver to visit him at the hospital. Unlike Kimi, who didnt even visit Massa after his crash 2009.

  • Eh dude?? First off, the only guys Ferrari gave permission to visit Felipe after his crash was Rob Smedley. All other enginees and mechanics and Kimi were not allowed to visit him because their race weekends are all pre-planned with meetings, analysis and media and so on. Massa was gone by the end of the weekend, so what the fuck arfe you on about??

And by the way, would you visit a guy that you are not that close to? Cos Felipe and Kimi were never freinds, just team-mates and rivals

  • concidering that the guy who is in hospital helped me to get my world title in 2007, hell yes.

  • and kimi didnt visit him all the time when massa was recovering, he didnt only skip it on one weekend. he had time to visit if he wanted to.

  • Are you deaf?? Kimi was told he didnt have time to visit Massa!!! Stefano Dominicalli said in an interview that the only guy that was given permission to visit felipe was rob smedly!

After the race weekend, Massa had moved hospitals and it was too late so get your facts right.

And by the way, it was the team that told massa to move aside at brazil 2007, besides kimi had 3 laps more fuel anyway. Lap times showed massa didnt slow at all, kimi overtook him with speed

  • first: kimi had all the time to visit massa in the brazil when he was recovering and talkig, he just didnt care and massa told he wasnt surprised kimi didnt visit

as far brazil, eh are u so stupid that u think massa raced for win? he knew his place and a) pitted more early than he had fuel b) ferrari put less fuel than kimi since he knew he had to finish second to kimi.

  • Furthermore, you say massa told the media that kimi didnt visit and he wasnt suprised that he didnt????

The logical conclusion to this is that they are not FRIENDS!!!

THATS THE POINT I BLOODYWELL MADE AT THE BEGINNING!!!!!

you are making my own point here. They have never been friends and if massa was good enough, he would have been in the title fight at brazil 2007 and he wouldnt have had to "follow team orders". So kimi would not have to thank him nor visit him!

  • please dont use capital letters, makes ur comments look bit stupid. i never claimed kimi and massa are friends. i said when ur collegue is in danger of dying, normal person would visit him. jean and kimi are two total opposite personalities in this matter as i said, whichwas the point of the whole conversation here. I see that u are a kimi fan, but please dont lose it if someone thinks kimi is rude and doesnt always do the right things in terms of good manners.

  • fair enough lad. your entitled to think whatever you want about kimi. He does come across that way sometimes but i think he misunderstood in that way.

I have to say though, you are not in a position to comment on whether kimi should or shouldnt have visited massa. They obviously didnt have a good relationship, which happens. Not visiting doesnt make him rude tho.

Nice debating with you tho. I see your as hard-headed as I am. Still think your wrong tho. haha. l8r dude

  • quoting di montezemolo about kimi few days ago: "He staked his place in our history by winning the title in his first season, which was partly thanks to help from Felipe, to whom he repaid the compliment the following year."

Can u say it more clearly....

  • from AP:

"Massa's parents and wife arrived after flying in from Brazil, and doctors woke Massa temporarily to check on his condition and so that he could see his family.

Team principal Stefano Domenicali and several Ferrari staff were also on hand to support Massa's family, which included pregnant wife Anna Rafaela."

"...the only guy that was given permission to visit felipe was rob smedly!

    yeah right...

  • kimi had all the time to join "several Ferrari staff" if he wanted, after the race weekend.

  • the only ferrari staff were the guys specifically appointed to felipe, obviously they had no reason to still be at the circuit when he wasnt racing. rob smedley was one, stefano was always going to visit (being his boss) and a couple of others very close to felipe within the team who had relaxed duties that weekend due to his crash...none of which raikkonen had.

And by the way, di montezemolo knows fuck all about F1- after all he appointed dominicalli who is the cause of ferrari's demise!!

  • when ur collegue is colse of being killed, normal thinking person would visit even if u are not close friend. Kimi just doesnt care, thats different from drivers like Alesi. i never said i was surprised either or expected kimi to visit.

  • you did say "massa told he wasnt suprised that kimi didnt visit". And i wouldnt say it was because kimi didnt care. I can imagine it myself- if i was in kimi's shoes at the time, id be thinking that massa is going to get hundreds of visitors and would he really want kimi to be one of them...Not really.

  • thats why kimi is distant "iceman" and jean was one of the most loved persons in pits.

  • that jean was. But you'd be suprised how many drivers said that though he doesnt speak much, kimi's actually a really nice guy. Shyness or quietness should not be assumed to mean unkind.

  • lol thanks for message again :D

maybe i sounded bit condemning about kimi not visiting massa, i didnt mean it that way. i was trying to point that i prefer personalities like jean alesi and rubens barrichello. i know it sounds bit strange since im from finland too like kimi lol

and yeah i can be bit hard-headed when it comes to f1 lol

  • Alesi was a true sportsman. In the end he goes to Kimi to ask if all is ok, unlike some others would. Respect, Jean.

  • dude stop being gay, alesi and panis are both french. that should tell you enough

  • I'm not the one you should have replied... It was not me writing about Panis.

  • Alesi was one of the most loved persons in the pits, not only among French and Italians. That should tell you something. It was not a role he played.

  • @DePalmez I couldn't agree more, my man. I said the same. :)

  • @DePalmez

    Fully agree.

  • @DePalmez and you see how could kimmi was in his answser that idiot 'icemen"

  • you can see the suspension failure on the Sauber. Left rear wheel

  • yep... i was so sad when Jean´s last race ended like this... bad luck during his whole career.
