I dont think you know who this is do you? He trains grappling as what to do when your first pre emptive strike fails and you are fighting, and his never fails ;-)
Zombiekicker - any good martial arts/self defense instructor will tell you early on that its always best to try and avoid conflict or run away and to only use their techniques if that isn't an option. If you haven't been told this maybe you haven't been training under a good instructor/coach?
@hamslab Damn right, brother. Ya gotta remember as well, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. I've seen LITTLE guys beat the ever living SHIT out of a some big dudes... simply because they got tired of being pushed around. I feel ya though, running is for pussies unless the guy's got a gun and he's at range (no chance for a melee). That's why I've got a Cold Steel AK-47 folding knife with rapid deployment and a Glock 26. Can't beat a Concealed permit
in Gracie Jiu Jitsu , you assume your opponent is bigger and heavier than you and you would not do this suplex if u get to his back , you just do the easier option where you sit back and pull him down with you and then you do the mount , back mount as you said my friend !
it's not really a suplex. it's just a regular pick up and drop.
when it comes to street self defense, i think it's better to have a top position. if we're thinking of the same move, its the one marcelo garcia did to ricco rodriguez at adcc. he would have landed right in back mount, but you'd be sitting behind your opponent. great for comptetition with mats everywhere, but not really on concrete.
I've trained GJJ for almost seven years and yes there is an easy trip takedown, but if you use correct posture you can easily pick up somebody much larger and heavier than yourself, I've done it many times so have several of my friends. If you watch the old Rickson seminar footage he actually taught a very similar technique
All your power is locked in your addictions, that's just beautiful and so true, nice one Geoff , you're a legend mate
