  • That looks like a Gateway G6-350.

  • first time i "played around" with a 10y old computer, it cost me a 10y old computer -.-

  • You should try Xubuntu not Ubuntu. Xubuntu is especially designed for older machines.

  • FreeBSD would work.

Or you could try the Netbook addition... my guess is you'll have to put more memory in it to run Ubuntu on that, though.

  • I have try Xubuntu on Pentium 2, Debian on Pentium 3.

  • ive got a pentium 2 that runs ubuntu. 400MHz and 32mb of ram. i was only 10 at the time i installed it, and i kindof forgot to check system requirements... but now im 12. hehe, my parents still use it because their other one mysteriously broke...

  • i put ubuntu on my p1 computer no prob

  • my test machine: ibm 300gl 128mb celeron. linux installs: debian, zenwalk, ubuntu 7.04, new dsl. dsl worked best.

  • my ubuntu gets freez on my notebook and i have to manually restart my pc.... can anyone help me????

  • yes go back to windows.ASAP.

  • Ubuntu is overly bloated. I suggest Debian GNU/Linux Woody. Would be great for a closet server or something.

  • heh My Friend Installed Ubuntu on his Pentium 2 Laptop man it was sad Terminal was lagging xD

  • wow. cli is THE most basic thing in linux. that pc must have some serious issues.

  • lol

  • Tr xUbuntu

  • I recommend you to use some lighter distro such as zenwalk, vector, puppy linux, grafpup, pcfluxboxOS, damn small linux, deLi, slitaz, etc

Ubuntu is way to heavy for that... I guess you have discovered it already.

  • yah i tried a few of them but just didnt put it in video * damn small linux, puppy linux and a few others i forget the names to.*

  • I had similar problems with some odd video cards you can either just use the VESA driver or just go buy a $10 ATI or nvidia card off ebay.

  • The problems is your Videocard, try change it.. i use a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP and runs perfectly XUBUNTU on Pcchips M748LM and M748LMRT and Soyo Sy-6BB ...

  • Hmmm, I've got Pii 350mhz 210Mem... so.. I run Xubuntu.., In beginngin i had problem with monitor too small.., so, i've got now bigger monitor and a better one.. It's betters...:-)

My videocard is a voodoo family.. Diamond MonsterFusion 16MB ... old one..

All app's works here in the pc..

  • this happens when i install on virtual box. I only bought my computer late November 2007!

  • I have the same problem with PII and Pcchips M748Lmrt.. the problem maybe is the videocard

  • Most likely, that computer soo old and has been a piece of crap eva since we got it

  • Well.. runs Windows XP like charm, but cant run Ubuntu.. is funny..here shows us Linux is not perfect in compatibility.

    I try others distros too..

  • i had a simalar computer, but it was a celeron

  • thank u

    very enjoyable
