This is actually Chen Style Tai Chi Sword. You usually have to work for a couple of years to get to the level where you are doing sword or weapon forms. I did not start Sword until almost 5 years in Chen style Tai Chi.
@buffvern well the earlier you start the longer you will learn, your body can grow accustomed to the movements and won't get in the way of the sword even if you start doing it on external or very low internal level
This is competition-wushu Tai-chi. You will most likely not learn those jumps in a normal Tai-chi school. Nevertheless it's beautfull as any well done Tai-chi form.
i learned the 24 steps taichi basics eight yrs ago. always wanted to learn taichi sword, but never tried. // btw, i love the background music. its very similar to the background music in condor heroes 94 (starring Athena Chu). is it possible i can have the song? email me. thanks.
Awesome. I'm starting to learn Tai Chi (Chen-style) this winter semester. :P My father learns this for more than 15 years. It's so relaxing and yet you know you learn martial arts. ^^
I thought, I knew what I wanted to do as a career since I was five, but in one week of looking into martial arts, Tai Chi Chaun inparticular, I just might give it all up to become a master/instructor. It's that amazing.
I have just watched the Nelia Wong clip. She's nice and agile and cute to watch, but that's about it. There is nothing like the smoothness and feet-to-swordtip (or feet to fingers in her case) total connectedness, and therefore internal power, which is displayed by the guy doing the sword demonstration.
It's the Chen stye Jian form with the new Tao Lu's (I think I spelled that correctly). Tao Lu's are the difficulties which are being used in Wushu competitions to create a homogenous point awarding system in hopes of making it an Olympic event.
yes the music is similar to that of crouching tiger hidden dragon but it is not the same, would love to know the name and artist of this piece, sounds like house of the rising sun? wonderful tai chi also
The music is not from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I have the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon music CD and the music in this YouTube video sounds slightly different than from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I too welcome anyone who can identify the name of the musical score in this YouTube video.
I love the music and as you rightly say it is similar to Crouching Tiger, but I think it is a the famous "house of the Rising Sun" with a heavy Chinese musical influence?
now this is very excellent this guy realy has talent and u can see his skill with the way he moves its like he realy is one with the sword. o and gangterlax is right. 9dragons is good 2 play if u like these kinds of things i play it as well. u will enjoy it.
I believe the song is from the movie "Fearless."
