Well I think this is a great idea...skill chains are not so easy to figure out unless you're on Aion (when it is released) longer than normal people. I mean yea the game looks nice, not just speaking of graphics, flying, quests, and characters but by seeing the things they are adding in this MMO will be a different experience for everyone. Hope everyone finds this game to be awesome like I do!
It will do the opposite if you ask me. 'Rather than having to experiment, skill chains will be handed to players.' No skill required at all, just press what you're told... you don't need to know jack about your character. Also means you can learn how other characters will act in pvp if they all use the same given skill chains. That's not fun...
So long as you're still free to use your own skill chains, i'm happy!
it will do the opposite, youre basically being told what to do, they just just want your focus on the character. In lineage 2 for example daggers can make you show your back, make you lose your target. Tanks can force you to target and/or attack them until you cancel. You can get rooted, slowed and slept. It makes for straegy not only with your own character, but with other characters, and knowing who should do what.
aion seems to be very americanized and care bearish just like WoW. It seems pvp will be very important, maybe they will do a successfull job of making a WoW style game more pvp oriented, who knows.
american games like wow have such a short learning curve, and they get so very dry and boring when you reach the end, but i guess those kinds of games are the big sellers. L2 is very dry and boring to lvl up, but i dont get satisfaction from completing quests, getting new gear, i get satisfaction from meeting someone i dont like, starting a clan war, having huge battles in the game just to prove you are stronger, winning castle sieges over your enemies and actually proving you are stronger.
Aion will have all that and more (and you get rewards if you win the fight). I can watch tv while I fight using a nuker in L2 (vortex + surrender + nuke nuke nuke nuke + /target next). In Aion you'll have to pay attention to the fight, combos activate with some probability. Some skills can be used only at flight, but makes you vulnerable to other things.
that is only fighting mobs, i dont want pve to be the highlight experience of the game...sure better pve will help, but the wow style of use this skill when you block, or when they dodge, use this skill after this one really gets dry, there is no strategy involved...it simply keeps you focused
WHAT?! I was talking about fighting, i don't consider pve as fighting... in L2 when you pvp you only have to use a couple skills... and that's it. I just don't get what's different in Aion in your opinion. There will be mass pvp, sieges 24/7, tactical pvp (that's why I mentioned the tons of combos, counter attacks, flying, etc), PvPvE, PvPvNPC, etc, etc. The best farming locations are on the abyss... a free pvp zone, so there will be the same fighting instances as in L2.
Ahgih, if you think you can just switch off in L2 pvp and watch tv or something, then you've CLEARLY never been in a real clan v clan / alliance v alliance situation. Startegy is everything. Sure you can switch off during grinding, I had a Tyrant and just clicked a mob, pressed F1, then got on with something else until it died. That just made grinidng easier though. I don't want to be completely focused when i'm grinding :P
What's different in mass pvp? You use your AoE? xD It's strategy like any other MMO, nothing special in L2.
Imo, the main difference between L2 and Aion, is that in L2 everything is grinding, pvp is a secondary thing, based on how much you've grinded. I have lv to 78 on a x3 sever without botting, it's not impossible, but everything relies on that boring thing called grinding (getting max lv, sub, nobless, gear, hero, raid, etc, etc)
You need to know which skill counter attacks your enemy's combos, and there're TONS of skills and combos for each class. So, being sometimes told what to use is a minimal part, you're forgetting when and how.
I like you already. L2 understood the importance of player-driven pvp and politics. WoW tells you to kill the opposing faction, just for the hell of it.
Aion is clearly aimed at a western audience like WoW, so i'm not expecting L2 style awesome pvp. But it will keep me going until L3 :P
yes that is why i love L2 so much, someone might KS me, so i flag on him, we get in a pvp, i kill him. His clan comes, so i call my clan, we declare war, they declare back. We have a clan war now and fight everytime we see each other, grow to hate your enemies even more. Maybe you simply war someone because there arent enough factor sides on the server, so you want to have things more competitive rather than grow bigger
It is x5 rates and they have scripted the game so you cant run 2 clients at the same time, or use L2walker (at least noone to my knowledge has gotten it to work without being detected and banned). It is l2 the way its meant to be played, pvp everywhere you want to level up, its a shame when people' only L2 experiences are seeing boxed pvp parties and bot trains in towns.
i play l2 on supremeL2. They hire REAL programmers. The game is c4 with 99.5% working c5 skills (exact formulas of retail c5, nothing made up), about 75% of c5 features are included. They spend as much money and effort on their servers as retail. They can have 3500 people online with 2 sieges going on at the same time and there will be no lag.
i agree with u this game is not made for pvp as u all know pvp= player vs player so i play agains the player and not a mob who is dumb and cant do a shit thats why l2 is interesting game you have to deal with players and not with a fucking mobs but here u must make 123012390 quests and for what? to go to abyss and maybe u will find some1 there and kill him? btw abysss starts at 25 lvl so bb pvp till lvl 25 and in l2 u can pvp anytime u whant and anywhere u whant l2 is best =)
FUN i play it 5 years too from c1 why i must play a game where i must do quest? for what? i mean ok quest give exp thats good but why i have to exp? for what? if there is no pvp? ok i am top lvl have top gear and? nothing l2 is about exping and pvp. you exp and pvp at the same time why i exp in l2 ? to have a good char good gear to kill other ppl and if i whant to play a game where i must just make quests why i must play a god damn mmorpg? i will go play a rpg
I'm sure aion isn't going to be as linear as your saying.
you can get attacked by players when ur fighting pve raid bosses for a start.
An mmo with no pvp would undoubtedly fail so i'd be expecting pvp to play a fair part in aion. especially since pvp gains u abyss points which u use to spend on armour, weaps & items to own even more people with.
besides, even if pvp does start at lvl 25, that will only take a few days to get from what i've heard. no big deal imo.

i would much prefer the combat style of lineage 2, just with the rest of the features that would make l2 the game it should have been.

FFXI idea but still why not take the best part of FFXI add it to a new game I agree with them ripping it off.

Hmm I'm not really sure if I like to be locked in a chain of skills all the time...
I don't really like this idea. Not at all...

Seems that the skill system will separate those who know how to play from those that don't know much about their character.

More organized, more massive, more tactical, and not the constant grinding L2 is (I want to see you leveling to 85 xD).

i have grinded to 78 on a x5 server without bots, its harder then getting to 78 on retail with l2walker...
And im not talking about 1v1 pvp, that style pvp is so insignificant in any game, especially l2

wtf? who uses aoe in mass pvp in l2? i suppose if you had a destro you would use cancel stick, or an OL would seal people
SuperColossal33 4 years ago
i hope the l3 will be in the style of l2 and not aion or wow
For wow players
you will never find a mmorpg with better pvp system then l2
