Since we don't have a board upstairs near the stairs, I can see a little door, It's even a little smaller than coralines door. I guess it's for the heater or any tubes. But if I go up the stairs when it's getting dark or maybe in the night I alwys have to look on that door and I wonder everytime, if I should open it, but in the end I am to scared and quickly go back to bed or switch on the light....
people think this is a halloween song its not its a movie to watch anytime, and i have watched it everyday once a day scince august 13th at my cousins birthday even tho i've seen it about 52 times(im not kidding) times when it first came out
You know, they threw the hand down the bottomless well. But the hand was falling at an angle, wasn't it? It would eventually bump into the side of the well, and then (like the spidery abomination it is), would climb back up.
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't trust the cover they put over the hole to stop an evil spider-demon-sewing-hand.
@catfeathers101 I think both ways are creepy. On the one hand (no pun intended), the book version is scary because it's a real hand crawling around on very long fingernails, feeling its way around like a blind spider, and it's like it's serving the Other Mother. On the other,in the movie, it may not be a real hand, but it's made up of needles, and it can see Coraline as she's about to throw the key away, and it's almost like it IS the Other Mother.
Smash it! Smash that hand into powder. The hand is creepier than the Other Mother, at least that's what I think about it. The hand is small and can get everywhere so that you can't see it and get rid of it.
"Oh, my twitchy witchy girl. I think you are so nice. I give you bowls of porridge. . . I give you bowls of ice. . . cream. . . I give you lots of hugs, I give you lots of kisses and I never give you sandwiches with grease and worms and mung beans. . ."
I love this film so much. I have heard RUMOURS of a sequel, (Something about an interview with Henry Selick) although unfortunatly its hard to get solid prove that they are making one, but if they do...
Must say, this movie is absolutely amazing. I watched it before reading the book and I think that I enjoyed the movie a little more because of Tim Burton's creepy factor. Both are stunning.
I love this movie, after I saw the movie I had to read the book and actually the character Wybie is a totally movie made up character. He's not even in the book, but I think I'm glad they added him.
The reason they added him was so that the main character wasn;t just sitting there talking to herself the whole movie. I suppose they did it so Coraline could be relatable.
@delfi101010 Remember how in the other world, the garden was in shape of Coraline's face? Well, it didn't change in the real world, it just sort of stayed there. It's purposely supposed to look like a face. And if you pay close enough attention in the beginning when Coraline is playing around, the garden is shaped like her face even then.
OKAY! who knows the name of the song they play like..before they even play the movie...when your on the main menu screen, It has those girls with the eerie voices singing..I love that one, But I can't find it D: please someone help me D':
when i was in the theater watching the movie when coraline got the pearl the hand closed all of the sudden and i heard a *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!* lol and i was like *HOLY FUCK!!!* and i dropped my drink
wait, so in the movie, the doll that is at ther start is wybies auntie...and then the other mother turns it into a C☻raline doll?! O.O CREEPPYYYYYY...But awesome all the same.
The was creepier in the book. I mean, atleast it looked like a hand, not just a mess of needles. Still, I like that gimic. Makes you more weary of the Other Mother and what she might be.

Well, how do you know that she was on the verge of death? I mean, she looked fine to me, other than the creepiness....I thought that was normal for her.
Was that in the book? Man, I hate how I never read it! I mean, I always want to, but its lost, but when I find it by accident, I'm doing something else! Crazy, right?
i went on Bing and found out that each child the Other Mother ate provided her with 100 more years to live. So when she was winding the web for Coraline, she needed a child's soul because she was afraid of dying.
@PurpleMysticDew that is also why she seemed to get older and creepier the more the movie went on notice the cycle started when coraline began to refuse everything she told her to do when really she should be eating her
The start fits well as the ghostchildren's reprise, not longer restless like ghosts, yet uneasy in the fact that Coraline's not out of the woods yet. It gives you a feel that the other mother couldn't be anymore like a spider (her hand). When the hand starts to drag Coraline, the nitemare seems to stir awake. Then there's the final showdown, the hand's fate met with a final THUD! And the ending tune did well with the image of 2 children tossing a bad memory into a well and out of their lives.
"Oh, my twitchy witchy girl, I think you are so nice. I give you bowls of porridge, I give you bowls of ice ... creeeaaaammmmm. I give you lots of kisses, I give you lots of hugs, but I never give you sandwiches with grease and worms and mung ... iiiiiinnnnnnnnnn."

I just got done watching this and it was awesome kinda reminds of how kids and teens are we're so ungrateful for what we have but we dnt notice until it's gone away
I'm not sure if they gave an explanation in the book, but I've made my own story of how the Other Mother was trapped in the house:
2 decades ago, there existed an evil witch who abducted children to suck their life and live forever. In the year 1859, a warlock came to the country and heard of the witch. He found the witch's residence, fought her, and sealed her away within a part of her house. He locked the magical door with a key, but using all his strength, died, unable to destroy the key.

I think the other father's song that he does on the piano was the improvement of the real father's song for her, the one with the ice cream?

when coraline steps into the other universe. so does your mind. in this movie your mind goes blank and all you can think about is the movie.
OrangutanFo0t 2 years ago 3
yeah watching the movie makes you feel disconnected with what's around you, cause the movie just sinks in your mind.
