  • Both the midnight star and dynasty versions are really hot on their own.

  • @ floydc1: I thought of the same thing. Midnight Star has a version of this song.

  • I remember when this record came out, i thought it was Shalamar. It only proves S.O.L.A.R. was using the same musical formula for artists and groups to "sound alike"... I always like this song regardless. But some record companies...smh

  • this is what you call the epitomy of "big fro funk!" it don't get much better...

  • Remember Dynasty! Used to play this at the high school parties.

  • Such an excellent song.

  • This my friends is what real music is.... damn i wish i had a time machine, who's coming with me?

  • @UntouchableNYsee I'll happily join you lol

  • @dal4018 let's go, we have much dancing to do!!!

  • @UntouchableNYsee hahahaha I unfortunately have TWO LEFT FEET I will have to sit this one out

  • @dal4018 that's funny! hahaha!

  • @1973cleopatrajones It is the honest truth not every black person can sing and dance lol

  • @dal4018 I believe you. From my days working at Solar and Motown, I've witnessed many who passed through our company and was advised to sing.... sitting!

  • @1973cleopatrajones WOW!!!!!! YOU WORKED AT MOTOWN&SOLAR YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK HAVE ANY NAMES OF THESE PPL WHO HAD TALENT???????

  • @UntouchableNYsee let's go.....and make sure its set on "one way trip"...

  • Great song writing collaboration between Dynasty's Will Shelby & Nidra beard and Midnight Star's Belinda Lipscomb & Melvin Gentry. Two of the best bands ever.

  • YES!

  • You think TV One's Unsung will ever do a story them ?

  • @philipbourne Would love if they did this band never got the respect it deserved DYNASTY 4EVER!!!!!!!!!

  • @dal4018 4EVER And than Some.

  • @philipbourne No problem with that statement lol

  • @philipbourne Is this band still together or did they go their separate ways?????

  • @dal4018 Well when SOLAR Records went under so did most of their acts. I guess you & I are gonna have to wait until TV One Unsung does their story. I waited over 30 years for The Sylvers story to be told, i can wait a little more for Dynasty....how about you ?

  • @philipbourne DAMMN SHAME THAT THEY WENT UNDER ALWAYS WONDERED WHY?

  • @philipbourne Me personally wish TV ONE would do it NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @philipbourne Hey which one is your personal favorite "LOVE IN THE FAST LANE or "HERE I AM"??????

  • @dal4018 I'm torn between their 1st single " I've just begun to love you" & This one But i have this on my Fav list

  • @philipbourne Okay no problem love that one as well this to me was this group at its best

  • @dal4018 Agreed

  • @philipbourne Hey as asked before what happened to SOLAR RECORDS and why they went under financially?

  • @dal4018 The best person to ask is Wikipedia, he knows everything. Also; we have to let others comment on this song otherwise they'll get mad.

  • @philipbourne LOL point taken

  • @philipbourne Got my answer Dick Griffey and Don Cornelius agreed amicably to shut it down so Cornelius could concentrate on his original baby SOUL TRAIN

  • @philipbourne Who are the FOUR IDIOTS that disliked this classic from the 80's

  • @dal4018 Who are you asking ??? It DAMN sure ain't Me

  • @philipbourne Yes I was asking you and no I know your not one of those morons who disliked this classic.

  • @philipbourne Those IDIOTS they are probably republicans who want Obama out of office

  • still play my Dynasty records. Always good for dancing. Solar records will always be my favorite label.

  • If you can't dance to this, see your doctor, because there's something seriously wrong with your central nervous system.

  • I like this song =véry koolll FUNKY MUSIC !!

  • I always wondered "WHY" wasn't Leon producing "The Sylvers" and after watching "Unsung" ...........Now we all know.Sad! Leon was a beast on the boards (and the bass ) in the 80's as we all know.

  • Solar had SO MANY HITS!!!! But for some reason this is the one I play the most out of all of their Hits!. I always loved the mean bassline and the bridge. I used to say to myself "Ain't no way the musics gonna sound this good in the future". I was RIGHT!

  • I miss those days, great dance songs back in that time.

  • Here I Am,era uma das musicas mais tocadas no baile que eu ia.Levantava geral, ninguem ficava parado!Velhos tempos!!!

  • Dynasty, The Sylvers, the Brothers Johnson, The Whispers... that music all sounded the same... which doesn't mean it wasn't good for dancing...

  • i'm so in love with this song

  • A time of my youth. I was blessed to be able to have had so much love, peace and really good friends. This music is more than classic. I was not a big dancer but this really made me move my lanky 6 foot Five frame around even without having a women in front of me. I usually never danced alone. Certain cuts I would if the cut really moved me in a certain way. I loved (love) the women and the attention they would give me. The double teaming by perfect strangers was such a turn on.

  • @TheKenington

    Thank U 4 sharing. <3

  • Linda Carrier and Nidra Beard was never given the recognition they deserved! i have listened to this group and these 2 ladies and analyse their vocal- capabilities..i must say your talent is from above Thanks for the Music! from my heart.. God Bless ( you may not know me but i've heard you two!!)

  • This song has been retouched u could say. Check out MAdlib's Black Soul album... Dynasty gets MAD remixed along with a gang of other groovacious funk

  • This needs a retro comeback remake somebody. This was the S#.T

  • @lekkerding469 Some classic are meant to be left alone.

  • @lekkerding469 Some classic are meant to be left alone Plus you do you have in mind to make a remake?

  • I love this song!

  • just amazing greatness i have there greatest hits on cd love it love them no doubt

  • The bassline is WICKED!

  • I will forever enjoy listening to 80s funk. nothing better

  • big chune!!

  • Come get it baby, here i ammmmmmmmmmmmmmm - Quality chooooooooon

  • This might sound a bit nuts but this cut had me on the floor with my best dance on.

  • All funk and R&B Bassist pay attention to that right hand technique, He's cutting those notes boyeeeee!!!!!

  • hot hot hot, the jam was dancin material, you couldn't help but get up and kick it it too this one............awesome. Now listern to this, he produced many jams for the whispers too...the song is called "here I am" , You're right the bass line is sick..lol

  • Timeless & a Classic... They rocked this...

  • This period is when women defined "feminine."

No baggy jeans, no "yo, that's my nigga," no foul mouths...............

Talent, and a hot comb. That''s all they needed.

  • Loven this one. im a 90's baby but i know good music when i hear it..I love your whole channel actually.. Thx veewee. *subscribed

  • Damn!!!! So Fine!!!!

  • I though Shalamar song this one... thanks for the release!

  • I tough Shalamar song this one... thanks for the release!

  • Leon Sylvers is the truth, no doubt. Bring the funk. My neck don't lie!!!

  • I just love this jam

  • I would like to thank Otis Jackson jr aka Madlib for that Medicine Show Black Soul 10 album, for bringing classics like this to those who missed joints like these or may have never heard them. Great music.

  • i see u are the same person that did the sylvers song i'm getting over...mannn, u know your music don't u? this is just toooooo much...gotta love it!!! it's that damned good!!! man i love it and i happen to own this song from the best of dynasty...keep doing it, brother!!!!

  • Man, did I party when this jam was out!!!! Classic!!!!!

  • Kevin Spencers voice is just magic here

  • DAMM THIS IS SOO FUCKN COOL SHIT! NEVER GETS OLD

  • This is vintage Dynasty........ back to my roots!! The track brings back memories of the good old days...when men were boyz.

  • That's what I'm talking about. Sounds of Los Angeles Record. I saw the SOLAR record label tour. The Whispers, Shalamar, Lakeside and Dynasty.

  • Still a groove......

  • I love this....it sounds a lot like Shalamar, (they were also produced by Leon Sylvers) remember working for the promoter at one of Solar records concerts with Dynasty, Shalamar, The Whispers, and Lakeside! They were all very nice. Leon Sylvers was one of the most sought after producers in the 70's and 80's...he was definitely a hit maker. Miss that S.O.L.A.R sound...Dick Griffey thanks for the Fantastic Voyage!

  • They just don't make music like this anymore

  • I would loose my mind on this cut. I was a very suave type dancer; You know... cool, tightly controlled slightly provocative moves. The ladies loved watching my lanky body flow through my well placed moves. I married my best fan. This song however I would let go I mean I had to let it out. Greta cut and good times. Thanks

  • I was a night club DJ for many years

and this song had the dance floor filled

    every time.

  • top notch !!

  • yeahhh!!! that sound makes my life complete!

  • Snowing large in NYC, CHILLN w/Dynastry even larger on Youtube!!! Wussup?!

  • Soooo good! Everything about this song is just amazing. I'm just mad I didn't discover it until recently!

  • Pedazzo de grupo... y que cancion.... Un Grupazazazo.... que Usher ni que nada

  • Great hook, Nice arrangements and harmonies. Great production and collaboration.

This was still a time when we had good music with great content. I'm just glad I was in my hey-day to enjoy it when it was happening.

  • @Jqau Ya me too, the disco era I remember it like yesterday. I wish it could be again.

  • Solar bands all sounded the same cant deny I did like the sound!

Happy we didnt miss the bus...LONG LIVE THE OLD SCHOOL.Peace & 1Love..Port!

  • OMG... I haven't heard this song in many, many years! Loved this song, loved the group. This brings back memories :D

  • I've got a heart full of love but nobody to call my own....

  • love.................it

  • I love this stuff I have it all on Vinyl and will never part with it..I still jam it at partys and clubs

  • Great song I haven't heard since it came out. I had lost it and I found it once again.

    Couldn't remember who sang it.

  • where are those times :-(

  • pure 80s magic, where did this good music go?

  • AWESOME TRACK!!!!!

  • why did i think all this time that this was Shalamar and Jody Watley was singing the lead before Howard Hewett joined?? You know like the old Shalamar.

  • @nscales20

I thought the same thing when I heard this for the first time (a disco/funk programme on local radio back in '97). Took me years to find out it was Dynasty :)

  • @nscales20 I can see the comparison, Dynasty was strongly simulating the Shalamar sound and since Watley set the formula, Beard and Carrie' was trying hard to cash a hit off the Watley's sound!

  • why did i think all this time that this was Shalamar and Jody Watley was singing the lead before Howard Hewett joined??

  • Fan.tas.tic ! Nothing to say more ...

  • SERIO

  • They have another jam called "you're my angel" that is worth checking out!

  • Leon Sylvers at his best

  • SMOOTH AND OH SO SATISFYING, LIKE A BOTTLE OF FINE WINE ! IT JUSTS GETS BETTER WITH TIME. PERFECT IN EVERY WAY.

  • OH SHIT NOW! Work it out!!!!!

  • No matter how many times I hear this song, I always stop and marvel at its sheer brilliance. Magically lush, this track is sheer perfection. A true "twirler."

  • One of my fav tracks

  • super chanson, vive le funk

  • Not being familiar with the solar family. When I first heard this when it came out. I thought it was the Whispers and Jody Wately. Cause i loved both groups. I was about 11 or 12.

  • Awesome....Love this song... I'm ready baby Here I am...Untouchable music.. Those were the days!

Thank you @uckadalma for a great share

Thank you veewee for a great post...

  • @2009Denisem Wow this is brilliant, first time i have heard this, what a fantastic track....oh to return to songs like this...wished i had heard this back in the good old days.

  • recuerdos inolvidables, en cuanto a musica, la mejor epoca musicalmente hablando, por supuesto que siiii ;)

  • Nidra beard and Jody Watley must have trained together they sound just alike

  • @Mixxersmix

Actually that was Linda Carierre on this song (she sounds like Jody Watley). Nirda Beard has a stronger powerful voice.

  • @soulchildsacomin since radio listeners never heard Nidra sing solo, and the women always dubbed their voice by singing together, the audience would never know the difference in the female voices!

  • @Mixxersmix we, the listeners have heard Watley sing lead and background, but when Carrie' and Beard sung, it was always together as a duo, and since Jody set the sound of Shalamar, other females aftyer Watly was making a mad attempt to cash in on the Watley sound, which set the sound of Solar!

  • @1973cleopatrajones I do agree Jody set the tone, although they didnt think she had a singing voice, Carrie Lucas , did stray from that sound with a little more Jazz but not until Klymaxx did it really start to change, Also I must say, after the Solar thing, that sound seemed to disappear, along with a lot of nice female empowerment r and b.

  • @Mixxersmix you're so right.... Griffey and others at Solar did make the MISTAKE of underestimating Watley's vocal talent, ya see what happened to Shalamar after her departure...... and, 25 million plus of her own solo albums and chart topping hits, on her own merits!

  • @Mixxersmix

Carrie did indeed have that smooth jazzy voice for the slow jams and that sexy tone on the jams like "Show Me Where You're Comin' From," "Men," and "Fashion," but Linda Carierre and Nidra Beard (along with the younger Jody Watley) set the standards for crossover jams for SOLAR. Belinda Libscomb was soulful and Klymaxx set a whole new different standard (that overthrew Linda and Nidra) which is confidence and attitude, but it was ahead of their time.

  • always...as good as ever!!!!

  • This is my favorite Dynasty song!! Too bad The Second Adventure was'nt a big album (around this time SOLAR records artists were obligated to rush a album in 1981 because SOLAR records was in the process of wrapping up the joint contract with RCA...causing poor produced albums by The Whispers, Lakeside, Klymaxx, and Shalamar). The Second Adventure, Concept (The Sylvers), and Standing Together (Midnight Star) were great albums in 1981.

  • Awesome! Funky joint, thanks so much for upload!

  • Their biggest hit in my opinion. Brings back memories of real artists, ORIGINAL tracks, and relevant lyrics.

  • You got that right...

  • This is my favorite Dynasty song!! Too bad The Second Adventure was'nt a big album (around this time SOLAR records artists were obligated to rush a album in 1981 because SOLAR records was in the process of wrapping up the joint contract with RCA...causing poor produced albums by some artists)
