@nicole666ify I read that the abundance of those thorn bushes all through Tsavo is the main reason the male lions lose most of the manes in that area by the time they reach maturity.

The reason they dont have manes is because tsavo is at the equater were the sun is alot closer so over time tge lions evoled to not have manes

Cool thing about the lions too is since their Habitat was bushers and thorns.the skin on the lions had callouses so the hide was like light armor even Col JHP said his bullets bounced off at times...but thats when he was using light calibers

These lions have manes for two reasons:

1. Aesthetic value

2. These kinds of lions are less agressive and thus easier to film

You have to admit, a maned lion strikes a far more powerful image.

i have seen the actual ones is chicago. They looked like females but male tsavo lions don't have manes.

@desmoineschiro the lions in tsavo have no manes evolution happened and tsavo africa is very dry and has more thorn bushes, so evolution got rid of the manes on the lions.
