Tim Sylvia was also a top rated guy at the time, regardless of what anyone says, he beat down Nog for 2 and half rds before getting subbed. Fedor finished him in under a min.

I think that if you took Werdum and Silva and put them inside a pride ring against a prime Fedor, they wouldn't walk away with a victory. But Fedor has been a ring fighter his entire career. PART 1 : 1st of all I don't like Lesnar, but his size, strenght, wrestling & speed for his size are his x-factors. Although, Couture is 10 times better he can't beat Lesnar. The new breed of fighters are taking over and MMA keeps evolving. A good fighter in pride may not be as good in the UFC since your strategy in a ring will not be the same as the octagon (I can give you some more knowledge in the future about it) and not to mention the different rules as far as knees,elbows,etc. (continues)

Most BJJ blue belts have more knowledge of subs and reversals and positions than wrestlers. However wrestlers are really strong from side mount and the kesa gatame or scarf holds. I actually compete as a Judoka and BJJ player so I have actually experienced the stuff I am telling you.

@alexthejam He held the heavyweight title in the largest MMA program for seven years. He is the only heavyweight to have ever done anything like that. There is no way you can call him overrated. People age at different rates, and Fedor has fallen way out of his prime. It didn't happen over night though. Even his last couple of victories were slower than they would have been in his twenties. He is the greatest MMA fighter of all time, but not the greatest today

Silva had Fedor mounted (which is a bjj position and NOT a wrestling position). BJJ black belt can stablize mount far better than a wrestler, when you mount someone u have 2 free hands and gravity in your favor as opposed to side mount where you have only have one arm free and not nearly as much

@lictor313 BTW Brock vs Heath Herring was Heath's 43rd MMA fight. His age doesn't matter IT WAS HIS 43 RD FIGHT. I have never heard of a fighter still in their prime by their 43rd professional fight. In Thailand a Muay Thai fighter goes pro at roughly 15 and retire by 23 to 25 because of all the damage they have taken. Lets put it this way if Brock fights 43 fights and still looks as impressive as he did at fight 4 and 5 I'll be impressed.

Second of all I have been mounted by bjj black belts and very good wrestlers and a bjj b belt's mount his far better. It takes years to perfect the techniques of BJJ. When mounted by wrestlers, I have been able to escape with a simple hip escape or bridge reversal because they are not as familiar with bjj moves as a black belt.

PART 1 : 1st of all I don't like Lesnar, but his size, strenght, wrestling & speed for his size are his x-factors. Although, Couture is 10 times better he can't beat Lesnar. The new breed of fighters are taking over and MMA keeps evolving. A good fighter in pride may not be as good in the UFC since your strategy in a ring will not be the same as the octagon (I can give you some more knowledge in the future about it) and not to mention the different rules as far as knees,elbows,etc. (continues)

People age at different rates, and Fedor has fallen way out of his prime. It didn't happen over night though. Even his last couple of victories were slower than they would have been in his twenties. He is the greatest MMA fighter of all time, but not the greatest today

He's a NCAA division 1 wrestling champion so he can wrestle, has good ground & pound, and he's over 260 lbs. I would'nt call Brock Lesnar great, but he's proved to be a competitor in the HW division by defeating Randy Couture, Frank Mir, Heath Herring, Shane Carwin who were all in the top 10
Fedor was fightin alot of fighters who have just squeezed there way into the top 10

@lictor313 So Heath Herring (who Fedor beat far worse than Brock btw and he was outta his prime), 45 year old Randy (who was beating Brock for the majority of the fight),Carwin(who utterly destroyed Brock and loss due to tiring himself out). His most impressive win was against Frank Mir. I'm sorry but Cain or Dos Santos would have a much better chance, but Brock would be a joke of an opponent for a prime Fedor. @lictor313 as much leverage. Big Foot Silva was unable to finish Fedor while having him mounted, back mounted (another superior position than side mount), failed sub attempts against him. Brock got subbed by Mir who subs are no where near as impressive as Fedor's or Nog's, Brock would likely get subbed if he went to the Ground against Nog or Fedor.

Everything I said is true, I have seen everyone of Fedor's fights and Brock's, I know about Fedor's accomplishments and Brocks. I will put it this way, if Brock beat Fedor it would be due to size and that is all. Skill wise Fedor is far superior to Brock, when have you ever seen Fedor turtle up and run after being punched. That being sad I do think Brock is a good fighter, but greatly overrated.

@Vinnymanvinny1 Point number 2, Big Foot Silva is a 285 lbs BJJ black belt. Being that I am about to be promoted to my purple belt in bjj, I probably have a much better understanding of it than you. Silva had Fedor mounted (which is a bjj position and NOT a wrestling position). BJJ black belt can stablize mount far better than a wrestler, when you mount someone u have 2 free hands and gravity in your favor as opposed to side mount where you have only have one arm free and not nearly as much

@lictor313 BTW Brock vs Heath Herring was Heath's 43rd MMA fight. His age doesn't matter IT WAS HIS 43 RD FIGHT. I have never heard of a fighter still in their prime by their 43rd professional fight. In Thailand a Muay Thai fighter goes pro at roughly 15 and retire by 23 to 25 because of all the damage they have taken. Lets put it this way if Brock fights 43 fights and still looks as impressive as he did at fight 4 and 5 I'll be impressed.

@Vinnymanvinny1 I know Brock has worked SOME BJJ but he is no where near a black belt in bjj. I guarantee u that Brock's subs are not on the same level as Silva's. Second of all I have been mounted by bjj black belts and very good wrestlers and a bjj b belt's mount his far better. It takes years to perfect the techniques of BJJ. When mounted by wrestlers, I have been able to escape with a simple hip escape or bridge reversal because they are not as familiar with bjj moves as a black belt.

He is a fighter who would make an interesting match up with Anderson Silva. So FRANK MIR IS A BRASS STANDARD FIGHTER. First of all Arlovski was a ranked top 10 HW when he fought Fedor and he hadn't loss in over 4 YRS when he faced Fedor. Randy Couture beat Sylvia by a 5 rd decision and a year later Fedor beat him in 36 seconds. BTW Josh Barnett would kill Lesnar.
