Technically he is. But the characters themselves are totally different. The original Godzilla is an unstoppable force of nature. The American Godzilla (Zilla- a name given to him in "Godzilla: Final Wars") is a rather meek mutant iguana.

Don't get me wrong though... I like Zilla for what he is: a fast, cunning animal. But NOT as Godzilla.

So? Zilla is just a collection of 1's and 0's. And I don't know what Godzilla movies you're watching, but the suitimation used to portray the real King of the Monsters in some is very good. CGI just doesn't have that human spirit. Besides, Zilla is just a failed attempt to reimagine the Monster King. And a pussy one and that. The whole reason I put him on this list is that I can look past that and see him as his own monster.
