  • she soo sexy ❤

  • is this in a bathroom?

  • so basically she is saying "IM CRAZY" LOL.

  • wow, she is such a beautiful person

  • LOOOVVVVEEE santi!! I can't wait for the new album, Go is beyond amazing!!

  • I love how any time theres a spotlight on a black person someone eventually brings up race. It's like a big ass elephant in the room.

  • shes sexy..she talks like a white girl which for some reason is a turn on for me

  • @makinbacon855 I know this may blow what little bit of brain matter you have, but she's black and she sounds like a black girl if you ask me. *kanye shrug*

  • @june18th1988 u mad bro

  • I though she was british, but i guess not. I like her music though.

  • For some reason I thought she was goin to have an accent.

  • I am in love with her speaking voice.

  • i love her style! & her voice. santogold, FTW!

  • any non black person that commends her for being wellspoken bcuz shes black and is amazed at that are ppl that are obviously ignorant and dont get out much, they watch to much tv and they base thier opinions off tv which says alot about thier intelligence level,it just goes to show niave and uneducated they are about the world around them.they cant help being that ignorant, just like a child cant help his ignorance,im not suprised in the least, lol and talking white???roflmao no such thing!go santo

  • the fact that it jumps with that horrid noise is because they are trying to take your mind of that fact the interview is jumping from one place to another , its just to hide the bad editing within the inerview by slightly distracting you away a second .

  • That distortion noise is so disruptive!!111oneoneone WTF!?

  • love her!!!

  • when's she gonna release a new album???? i love her cd!!!

  • If i could vote the highest rated comment 50 more times. I would. All black people are not GHETTO.

  • Very true! I’m tired of people thinking when you speak articulately your speaking white, these are people whose only way of socialising with other races have been through the TV screen, get out there and see how people truly are, if not then sit down and be satisfied with your one sided view of the world.

Maybe in the 50's such ideologies of black people could be acceptable SLIGHTLY. But not when the leader of the free world is an educated black man with an articulate wife, its ridiculous.

  • @BabyG18 Claiming that white people only socialize through the television is itself ignorant and racist. The bottom line is she is articulate to a degree that is higher than most people in general and some are turning a simple compliment into a platform to discuss their own issues with race.

  • @SomeGremlin I said those people who say racist things, that goes for not only white people, but some black people. Most people are victims of "that person talks like their educated, their speaking white. Critic me but get your facts straight,

You dont look smarted criticising issues that are already being expressed.

  • @SomeGremlin You are going overboard with that.

  • She's SO CUTE! :D

  • whats with all this talk... people saying iam a man of colour or iam a white man and she is well spoken. Santogold has talent and her stuff is always a fresh breath of air! who cares where she is from or what colour her skin is...she could be from the planet mars and have three heads, this doesnt change the fact that she has the ability

  • I'm glad she has more personality than she does in her videos, well the ones I've seen.

  • im a man of color and i like music she likes its good to be different and not be a follower

  • album is the best, i love it

  • Her singing voice is so different from her speaking voice.

  • Santo Gold is the bomb diggity.

    Blessed/fo sho.

you go go go girl ! ! !

  • she's so muthafuckin thick

  • fallback thts my cousin and her real nam is santi white she is from phili and im very close to her so leave her alone cuz u cant pull her and if u think im lying thn go ahead but i know the truth

  • Santogold is from Philadelphia

  • i like her . . .

her smile is very nice too.

  • SHES NOT BRITISH!

  • shit.....

  • im gonna hate when she's all hyped up... thats when they all take a turn... for shit music. (mainstreem crap) I love her! I also enjoy the sheer exclusiveness of it all. She aint a 'nobody' but she aint a 'everybody' either.

  • a homophobic girl? thats a first

  • What the hell is up with (no homo). Thumbs down for a lame phrase.

  • Because some Americans still shit themselves about homosexuality.

Totally offended by gays yet fine with carrying guns and shit.

  • dah FFFFFUCKIN SCREETCH is soooo anoying

  • agreed :/

  • Ah, such an inspiration.

  • <333

  • i love this girl, she so fresh. there's no one out there like her, she's amazing.

  • NME stop putting that stupid noise on all your videos!

  • I know i have to turn the sound down like every 20 seconds

  • I wanna marry her

  • i love her music and her personality

  • She's so real.

  • SHE FINE

  • There are a lot black artists like this but they never got a shot because; they were typecast by the industry for not being "Black enough"; and marketing concerns. This is changing though. Call it the OBAMA AFFECT.

  • can you give me a list of other black artists like her? I think this is what mtv, bet is missing...

  • I love her smile

    Its so bright and happy

  • She's great ...production, not so much

  • Comment removed

  • she's an aborigine like M.I.A

  • Things I wanna get off my chest: 1) "Non-black" people need to stop assuming all "black" people are "ghetto," however the hell you wanna define non-black, black, and ghetto is up to you. The shock of her speaking well is not shocking, it's who she is, so stop complimenting her on being so "well spoken!" 2) Stop getting your ideas of people from the tv. Get out and make friends with people where you live... it's gotta be somewhat diverse, and if it isn't... MOVE. 3) Santi is GOLD!

  • Thank you; I'm so sick of saying this. I play rock, went to college, "speak well", etc, etc. I've never been to a ghetto and Santogold seems very familiar to me. She sounds like any number of my family members.

  • I know exactly what you're saying. I mean, I've been to a ghetto before because my mother is from Southeast DC, but other than that I don't fit the typecast of what a black person "should be". Many people in my family are very affluent and a lot of people are taken aback by that for some reason

  • @june18th1988 Thank you!

  • @june18th1988 dude u know how much flack a dude like me gets for not wearin baggy ass clothes and bangin ignorant shit all the time. it's rediculous. oh and santo would get it with the quickness her intelligence makes her beautiful in my book.

  • @june18th1988 If someone just commented and said,"She is well spoken.", I don't really see the problem. It would be different if someone said,"She is well spoken, for a black person.", that would be wrong. I don't know what made you want to write that, perhaps someone did say that last thing. But I would personally say that anyone who I thought was. If you did respond to someone who just said,"She is well spoken.", I think you would be wrong to assume there is something racial to it.

  • Comment removed

  • @june18th1988 What? It was a good point.

  • @LucidDream If you read the other comments before the one I made, you'll see what I and others were referring to.

  • @june18th1988 Yeah, I understand. I was agreeing to some extent about it with my first comment. If someone said,"She is well spoken for a black person."...then it's definitely wrong. But if someone just said,"She is well spoken."...that's not really racial.

  • Comment removed

  • @june18th1988 And sometimes things mean exactly the way they seem.

  • @june18th1988 I would have said that she is well spoken, because she is...It has nothing to do with skin color as it doesn't mean anything...

  • @LucidDream Keep telling yourself that, pal. If you don't see why that's a problem that you and others are taken back by her "speaking well", I feel sorry for you.

  • @june18th1988 Okay, I will. Because it's the truth. Feel sorry for me, I don't care...because I feel sorry for you too.

  • @june18th1988 And I'm not "taken back" by it...it really doesn't surprise me that she is "well spoken" or coherent. You're just being pretty damn ignorant. It's a compliment to her and I would say it towards anyone else who I thought was.

  • @LucidDream haha. I'm not the one being ignorant. Thanks for caring though ;)

  • @june18th1988 Right...

  • @LucidDream :)

  • Comment removed

  • @june18th1988 kind of contradicting your point by bringing this up, no?why cant people say that shes well spoken?..she is. they arent saying its special that she is well spoken because of her race, they are just saying she is well spoken.for you to say that we shouldnt say how well spoken she is, ASSUMING because she is coloured, and may somehow be offensive is actually doing the opposite of what you think you are doing.think deeply.

  • @june18th1988 1) heard that. 2) heard that. 3) You goddamn right.

  • OMG[osh] I love HURRRRRRRRR

  • she's an ARTIST. that word is overused but it should mean someone who expresses themselves through music and that's what she does. she dosent listen to some record that tells her what to wtire and candy coat her songs. aka jonas brothes. she sounds so intelligent.

  • was she doing this sitting on the toilet?

  • "I don't think that all artists have these dark places that they need to clear out through music"

  • i definitely like that she's happy!

  • I love her.

I'm addicted to her debut album. :]

  • One of my top 5 albums from 2008

  • Ive only hurd her music I love her but feared her but now hearing her talk she's a fun happy person YAY

  • I love her!! She is so unique. Definitely my new girl crush

  • do u mean..protege'?

  • Santogold and M.I.A love them !!! Santogold was at the weysleyan university (very hard selection ) it's an art university. And guess what the member of MGMT were in that same university !!! And guess what MGMT are also from brooklyn !!! Now you know the secret ingredients ! HAHAHA !

  • She from Philadelphia or Brooklyn. One of them. I would do nasty things to her.

  • I don't know why, but for some reason i expected her to have a british accent. Weird right?

  • ahaha, me too.

  • yeaaa same here!

  • shes from philly!

  • no! she is from brooklyn homie!!!

  • philly definitely.

  • she's from philly

  • she is from philly. she said so at her show last night

  • SHe Was Born There But SHe Grew Up In Brooklyn

  • lol i did too

  • i'm truly in love with Santo Gold. She is my prototype

  • When I heard her on the hook for Jay-z Brooklyn we go hard her voice attracted me to her. I wanted to know who she was. I ALSO EXPECTED HER TO HAVE A BRITISH ACCENT. I still think she's hott!

  • I love her music!!!I have to see her when she comes to NYC,again.

  • i really want to meet her she seems so cool and shes from PHILLY dUUUDE i SWEAR

  • ive met her. shes lovely

  • Lol, she bases her lyrics on pure gut feeling a lot of the times with no meaning. And here I was trying to interpret all her songs.

    :)

  • man she is so hot!!!1 i fell in love with her after i heard her on the converse song

  • love her she so talented;)

  • who doesn't love Santogold?? she's amazing!! I wish we were best friends lol ;)

  • great personality.

  • i like her teeth

  • New Wave <3

  • I want to fold Santogold up and carry her with me always.

  • is she american??

wow i always thought she was british!

  • ya i thought that too

    she actually from Philadelphia

    and shes 32

  • No way ,shes a local lady?

Before seeing this video I don't know why but I expected a british accent.

    She seems genuine.and cool.

  • Her music is great, but the thing that bothered me was that, her lyrics doesn't mean anything :(

  • you just don't get it

  • d you think so, can you?

  • it really pisses me off when these "proud to be black" guys talk shit about her for actually being smart. they call her brainwashed by the white man, and an aunt Jemima, its fucked up

THERE IS NO ACTING WHITE OR BLACK, THERE IS ONLY ACTING SMART AND IGNORANT.

  • now that is intelligence folks.

  • so sad that everyone is "suprised" how well spoken she is. She's just talking like a regular person. Were they expecting a few more foshizzles?. >:(

  • Thank you!!! WTF is up with WOW. Like it's completely unexpected.

  • what? no, of course not, it's an admiration wow.

  • wow. she is such a well-spoken woman; very intelliqent and talented.

  • I bet you any amount of money that all the people posting comments on how "shocked or surprised" they are that she is well spoken are ALL WHITE!!! Why the hell do you people believe that EVERY black person is illiterate or unable to speak properly? What did you expect her to say?

  • ha ha so true

  • Its just the stereotype for black people in the music scene. stereotypes are hardly ever true

  • sad but true, it's pretty annoying when a white person sits there and says "oh, she speaks so well!" like they don't expect someone to communicate correctly. but part of that is the fault of the so-called artists in the music industry, they HELP perpetuate the stereotypes that a lot of us get annoyed with everyday.

  • you know, not all white people say that. I believe that's called "stereotyping", isn't it?

  • if people stop getting their perception of what blacks, whites, hispanics, and others are from television and insignificant fake reality shows.. and actually KNEW and attempted friendships with people of other backgrounds then no one would have to make such stupid generalizations about any specific group of people. no one person should define an entire race of people.

    peace

  • love love u love u genious

  • The reason her music is soooo damn good is because she's from PHILLY!!! The mecca of music. The best musicians come from Philly as well as the best visual artist ( such as myself). GO SANTI REPERSENT SOUTH STREET POSSE ALUMNI!!!!!!

  • I think it's amazing how much she studied before she went into music. I didn't even know that she had a double major in Black studies and in music. I love this girl, man. She reps hard for all the Afrikan womyn!

  • She's my music idol.

  • I have a new love in my life

  • I just discovered Santogold today.

    I'm so impress !!

Her first CD is so great form beginning to end.

Her music videos are great as well.

She is like the Obama of Music !!

  • She's the socialist dictator of music?

  • HuH? dictator? what?

  • Dam she be hot

  • She has a sexy voice.

  • Cool chick but what the hell is with those jarring video edits?

  • wow, you're a complete dumbass. probably euro trash

  • I agree.

  • your an idiot

  • wow

  • I'm white and I still think that was just really ignorant of you to say.

  • That is extremely disrespectful. My mom is black and she's not the stereotypical black woman. There is no such thing as "typical" black person. They are all different!

  • quite possibly the most intelligent thing ive heard all day. i couldnt agree more =)

  • OMG!! she's such an awesome person! :D

i can relate to a lot that she's saying too :D

    luv her!

  • I knew it!!!! I was listening to part of say aha and lights out and i was like, "what is she saying, sounds so good." Man thats soo cool but it sucks when I cant get the words is it "dont worry" or "darling" xD

  • OMG her smile!

  • Shes from Philly

  • she coming to philly not people know it on the 23rd of this month. At the TLA on 3rd and south so hurry and buy tickets...they are only 23 bucks.

  • Or maybe the accent sounds Caribbean . . . there is some kind of accent !

  • that's straight american, cousin.

  • true dat!

  • She might have a caribbean background, I thought the same thing like she sounded she was from overseas

  • She's from Brooklyn.

  • I really really thought she was British or from somewhere around the UK; when she sings she sounds like she has that accent. NOW I KNOW! :)

  • NICE!! Smart chick, great music, great sound. Very honest, very real person. I'm glad I found this artist. Heard it once on a friends radio and now I like. I would like to know more about her.

  • itsbjtime:

I'm with you. Surely the least familiar with her work, but it has a euro tech sound.. reminds me of stereolab slowed down by a third.

The two interviews are I've seen are refreshing. She's says she emotional and downplays the cognitive side.. Did you notice her strong opinions? Nope. And for someone still young its refreshing to see her not give shallow pat answers. She's very cognitive. Rare to see a young artist who is drinking in the world. Pesa.

  • I LOVE ER!! shes great :) love er music completely :D im obsessed haha
