I don't think you have to do anything for Tibet as no one can help them. However I don't see one sixth of the US population being murdered by the Chinese would seem like an idealisation of the oppressed people. I'd say it was state tyranny over its own people.

Tibet is just a symbol. I didn't see anybody move one inch when warmongers in Congo started to attack civilians. We not necessarily idolize them, they're freaking Buddhists. They have the charismatic Dalai Lama as a spokesperson. They're, in our western view, the most peaceful people on earth. And they get run over with tanks. Why do we pay attention to the Pandas and Koalas and not some creepy, endangered lizard?
