  • I love all the old country songs - well, actually, at this time it was still called Country and Western" I beleive.

  • my sister loves this song. she's 17. let's just say we raised her right. :)

  • Wow what a voice, like silk.

  • They cut the song. lost it's full meaning. Great song but it was cut.

  • This is a bit like the handsome young cowboy felina danced with--dead. Very good singers but they looked bored. Sorry.

  • See, there we go again A woman right in the middle of things causing pain misery, yelling and gunfire. Y' know what ?? I would've hit on some other girl in that saloon and made wicked Falina jealous. But then again, hell hath no fury like a scorned woman in which case she'd pull the trigger on me. What's a man to do???

  • [iminent=NNi5j8YVffOB] What a voice! Does not matter what he sings!

  • a real jeer

  • It's like the three of them were born to sing together...amazing.

  • I fell in love with a Mexican girl. Mexican girls are amazing.

  • The guy on the left looks a little like a young Mike Douglas ( the singer/talkshow host )

  • More Americans should take a beautiful Mexican girl and end this hate that they seem to have in Arizona and then we can all rest easy with the coming generations.

  • i beat those 5 people like Lady CaCa

  • 5 people have never been to the west Texas town of El Paso...

  • Thank You from Wes Bryan

  • I just realized they leave out the entire section where he gets shot and Then Faleena finds him. Here he just rides into town and She finds him and one little kiss goodbye!

  • Not very much words needed - Marty and his ballads - simply unique - thanx !

  • This guy is amazing !!! Goosebumps all over !!!

  • so wonderful and sad.....the real country-music...country-songs always tell a story... thank you Marty

  • El Paso is quite a long song and even karaoke versions are shorter sometimes....listen to these guys sing...effortless....It's America's music and althought many try to emulate.... the yanks still come out on top...I was brought up on this kind of music...and I'm English...thanks for posting this wonderful song.

  • fun cowboy song

  • Country music will never be the same without Marty.

  • To bad there isnt a real Rose's Cantina here in El Paso, that would be EPIC.

  • @TehAxg, there is indeed a Rosa's Cantina in Ysleta, which is part of El Paso, now. There was a news item on it in September during the big flash floods which affected Rosa's Cantina. They did clean it up, fortunately. And it is the namesake of the song.

  • Hey Robin?

  • Thank you for uploading this. Has the missing verse!!!!!!

  • One of the best songs sung by a trio. In any genre.

  • give me a smith n weston

  • @uiolkijhgh *Wesson*

  • he was bnig then i wonder if he was a bully coz hes small

  • He skips the verses where the cowboy gets chased and shot... his death in Felina's arms makes no fricken sense without those parts!

  • @GrlLeastLikelyTo

The verses are cut simply because the programme would have run over time.

The actual recording of it that is played often skips the verse where he sings 'Just for a moment I stood there in silence shocked by the fowl evil deed I had done

Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there

I had but one chance and that was to run.'

  • @tarquin45 Ah! funny you should mention...

When I was little the version my dad always used to play skipped the line about him being "shocked by the foul deed..."

When I later bought my own Marty Robbins cd that verse was included.

I find it amusing that he includes that part, but excises the verses about being pursued and shot... which are so crucial to the poignant ending...

hmm, he chooses moral reflection over the shoot-em-up scene! or perhaps I'm reading too much into it. :)

  • @GrlLeastLikelyTo I'm damn sure no fricken chicken was involved in this story :)

  • @tarquin45 BBC have three different edited versions. Mean lot!

  • @tarquin45 Yes, that's the verse that, unfortunately (and inexplicably, as album versions are usually left uncut) is cut from the recording as it appears on his seminal 'Gunfighters and Trail Ballads' album. Thankfully, the full-length single version is what normally appears on 'best of' compilations.

  • @tarquin45 killer stuff

  • @GrlLeastLikelyTo If you don't know it yet, listen to Raoul Malo's version.

  • @GrlLeastLikelyTo

I am sure there was a producer or director there telling him to shorten it up.

  • That looks a little like Faron Young there on the right. Great Song. Thanks For Posting.

  • It is a good quality video but there are several verses cut out.

  • I guess it was the 50's....

    They cut the violent part.

  • talylor swif if you're watching take notes ...THis is what country is supose to sound like :) real country not that rap pop wana be shit

Marty Merle haggard and hank williams etc. Are examples of what real country is

  • Wether true or false, you can't beat the old "Trail Songs".......

  • Whether true or false, you can't beat the old Trail Songs...

  • This has a verse missing in it, guess it was to fit in the show's time slot.

  • Fantastic

  • This song has always been on of my favorites of all times.Still love you Marty.

  • Marcangel 79--LMAO! cowboys in matching shirts! Too funny! But I loved this song back then and still do. Great old love story. What I did for love!

  • I like it but i think they could have atleast wore different costumes no two cowboys ever dress the same!) Rip marty

  • Beautiful voice! RIP Marty.

  • damn...makes me wanna ride thru the city streets on a horse shooting revolvers into the air...shouting..."Yay.. yay....arriba arriba...."!!

  • I remember watching He Haw. My grandmother loved that program

  • Cant say im into the country music genre but some song's you just cant help but like. This is one of them...

  • Thanks for posting this video. I grew up with as a young girl with my parents listening and watching the Grand Ole Opry. Marty Robbins was truly a gifted country singer. Great video.

  • While this is a beautiful song, I got tired of listening to it when I attended the UTEP ECU football game in 2007.

  • grew up with this song and still love it to this day. ^_^

  • wtfisthis420:

By now you have gotten responses, I'm sure, but the sequel to this great song by Marty Robbins was called "El Paso City."

  • Truly enjoy this video everytime I watch it!! Marty Robbins, truly a great singer!

  • Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Well before my time but i can appreciate good music!

  • It is up to us to keep the great (REAL) music going by playing it for our kids. Like my parents and grandparents did

  • @CousinG38 yes!!!!!!!!

  • @CousinG38 Have done and will continue to do. :)

  • Great song

  • where's the guitarist!!! The best part of this tune, he should be front and center.

  • awhhh love thisss song

  • I wish Elvis would have recorded this song at some point as it sounds like a song he would have done in the 60s. I have no doubts he would have nailed it.

  • it would have been good huh? ive always thought about it

  • i dedicate this to my wife Felina

  • Searched like mad for the Benny Hill sketch to this tune - it was a corker. Found loads of other ones except this !

  • A lot of people doesn't know this but marty was a stock car driver also. just thought i would share a fun fact:)

  • what other word can you use to describe this??? BEAUTIFUL

  • my mother used to play this while i was in my crib to help me fall asleep....27 years later, i still sing every word....

  • Absolutely love this amazing song!

  • im an irish cowboy n thats the worst kind lol

  • i love this i was like born 100 years late n it kills me

  • I love this song, it reminds me of my parents. ;(

  • This is one of the greatest "story songs" ever recorded. Marty was awesome.

  • I think 'El Paso' and 'Ode To Billie Joe' are two of the most poetically brilliant songs of alltime and both topped the US Hot 100. Elvis? God's special gift to the world.

  • I've loved this sone ever since I was a tike when it was released. Marty Robbins has always seemed like a real class act by the way he lived his life.

  • I seem to remember Steve Martin doing a video to this song on TV using orangutangs to act it out

  • It's funny I was born in El Paso on the way with my parents from White Sands N.M. to Ft.Worth,Dad [R.I.P.]was a Navy guy, and I grew up with all the usual country songs in Texas, but this still for whatever reason is probably my favorite, my wonderful Moms too! I must have heard it a million times!

  • I remember this song so much when I was in college. It is one of my favorites. Great memories.

  • I personally always thought that the guy got a raw deal. After all, it was a fair fight: "Down went his hand to the gun that he wore," and Marty woulda been dead himself if he hadn't answered the challenge in less than a heartbeat.

  • Both Don and Bobby had solo recording careers with limited success. Bobby Sykes had a medium sized hit in the country chart in with a song 'Roses To Reno' under the name of Bob Bishop in 1968 Bob siang harmony on 'El Paso', Marty's most famous classic in 1959.

  • Don Winters & Bobby Sykes

  • Did these other two guys do any other songs, never heard of them. Thanks for that great little known fact there. Have a great day!

  • What are the name of the other two guys with Marty

  • i grew up listening to this song. my mom would play it all the time. hearing it brings back so many memories. i love this song.

  • ya!!!!!!! el paso all the way baby

  • Yeah. I am a woman and we sang this song out loud while laughing the first time I was in Texas..

I never knew all the words beyond 'I fell in love with a mexican girl'. I write songs the same way he does.. no real chrouses or changes. Just straight through.

  • A Great song and great singers love Shirlsxx

  • I love mexican girls.

  • and exquisite harmonies

  • I was in love but in vain i could tell been there

  • he missed a few lines at the end

  • dont worry Marty when I catch with feline I will kick her right in the BALLS ouch??????????

  • One of the greatest songs ever!

  • Reminds me of the 'Whip It' video by Devo. Awful but I like it!

  • Yeah, except there's no bikini gals getting their cigarettes whipped! Devo most probably got some ideas for their vid from this..

    Ya gotta love Marty Robbins!

  • quite simply ...sublime ..this is one of the greatest songs written by one of the greatest singer/song writers of all time..the one and only marty robbins

  • nolarae TRY Gatorrock786 5.04 min.for entire

song.[on PBS his son told of Marty writing this song,in bk seat of car,as Mother was dri-ving.Marty kept playing and this is the result. They were headed to an appearance on

west of ElPaso.Another one w/green shirts on

and standing together. Not showing up now. The

beautiful voice of Marty Robbins lives on.Thans for posting.

  • nolarae MARTY EVER THE SHOWMAN! NOTE AS HE GETS TICKLED,HAS TO LOOK OVER HIS SHOLDER,TO

REGAIN HIS SINGING,[why did they laugh?]on PBS

the announcer said they sorted thru lots of

clips to put this togehter. for Marty was so

    much of a clowner...even in serious songs...he

sometimes had hard time going on w/recording.

[when he plays the piano, guys in band w/pink

shirts, the recording device goes on the fritz

and makes the buzzing sound,[DON'T WORRY BOUT

    ME]MARTY W/GRREN CK.SHIRT. LAUGHS

  • Thet daren't look at each other in case they start laughing.

  • Why would they laugh?

  • thanks for re-posting this great song. unfortunately they cut out the part where he got shot ... sort of important to the story. Maybe original poster can re-post. Thanks again, at least we get to hear most of the song!

  • Hi ! Maybe the following has something to do with it. Radio broadcasters had a lot of trouble with the full length of this song - hence, 2-3 versions exist. I can't remember whether this controversy had a legal basis or 45 RPM records could not exceed a certain number of minutes and seconds because of the record industry. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense. An on-line or written biography may say something about it.

    Charlie

  • Yep it's missing an important plot segment - without the "I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle, I feel the bullet go deep in my chest" u gotta wonder whether Felina does him in!!!

  • yessssss great its back :)

    great song

  • this was posted before and then it disappeared???? now its back.. YAY!

  • Thanks for posting this one.....I love this song!

  • Thanks for posting this. One of the best Marty produced. It brings back memories of the early sixties, cruising through McDonald's and other places on weekend nights with friends.
