English is the number one language spoken in the world as well as the most read! More English books are printed and sold than all the other languages combined! Actually English as already surpassed all other languages if you consider those who speak English as a 2nd language! Few people out of China speak Mandarin but just about every educated person knows English! Spanish is rated #4 on this video; however, English it taught to every child in school. Same in the Filipino schools! Most Europeans speak English!

Basically Bahasa Indonesia and Malay are the same. Bahasa Indonesia was actually standarized Malay Riau-dialect. While Malaysian Malay was standarized Malay from Malay Peninsula.
But officially, they're different languages (20%).
Malay (ISO 639-1 ms, ISO 639-2 may (B) msa (T)) was the predecessor of Bahasa Indonesia (ISO 639-1 id, ISO 639-2 ind, ISO 639-3 ind) and Bahasa Melayu (ISO 639-3 zlm (Malaysian Malay) zsm (Standarized Malay)).
@yandre20005 Sorry but Portuguese is more difficult than Spanish, where have you read that? (I'm not in a agressive mood, just curious where you've seen that)

Hindi is spoken only in 4 states of North India and that too among Hindus. The language of North Indian muslims & some other parts of India are mostly Urdu. Urdu has more of Persian/Arabic words where as Hindi more of sanskrit. In this way, Hindi is spoken by around 250 million people where as Urdu as a mother toungue itself is spoken by around 450 million or more(Indo-Pak).
@DiogoBailao I respect to your opinion, but Bahasa is more 300 million speakers, sir.
Indonesia: 250 million
Malaysia: 28 million
East Timor: 1 million
Singapore: 0,7 million
Brunei: 0,4 million
also native speakers in South Thailand, South Philippines, Christmas and Cocos Island (Australia), and immigrants in Hongkong, Taiwan, Srilanka, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Holland, Suriname, South Africa.
@firdakus93 there isn't a language called Hindi you uneducated bigot. There is a language called Urdu and its the most common language in India but in India there are more than several hundreds languages spoken by various clans and ethnic groups
@firdakus93 The language with the most native speakers in the World is Mandarin with almost 800 million native speakers, followed by English, Hindi-Urdu (Hindustani), Bengali, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, etc. STOP getting your figures from the stupid Wikipedia, written by illiterate ethnonationalists like you. You folks think, just because the official language of a country is Spanish, then everybody speaks it as their first. Hahaha. Sorry, No. Check Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia, Paraguay....
@hotboyclarence I just gave my opinion here. I told you...Bahasa or Malay or Indonesian or Malaysian, that's the same language. Difference only in dialects. ^^
@firdakus93 well..... im indonesian :3 i also can speak malay~ but i think malaysian and indonesian language has different language and dialects! like example in indonesian we call student: murid. but in malay they call it: budak
@firdakus93 i agree with you..i'm sumatrans..and this language (bahasa indonesia) came from malay culture of sumatra (Riau)..so not really different..
sy kira kita dpt mngerti ktika sesorang bicara bhs melayu, krn bhs melayu & bhs indo, berasal dr bhs melayu riau sperti bhs inggris british & inggris amerika.
@pichubright Oops, carefull with your words. Budak in Indonesian mean "Slave", of course student are not slave. But Murid can be mean "Disciple" which sounds more polite.
Most different in this language is the structure of the sentence, in Indonesian Subject, predicate and object, but i dont think so with malayan.
@firdakus93 No, i dont think Malay & Indonesian are same language. In some case when indonesian talk to the malaysian it have different meaning can be polite or impolite.
I would say: "they just have the same word but have different in meaning".
@firdakus93 Bahasa is mean "Language" if you translate it to English, it doesn't refer to which country it was. English of course refer to the England.
I don't think Bahasa is fit for name of Malaysian language, what is fit and always spoken in malaysia it self is "Malay" does it.
@4712030two I agree Bahasa means Language in english, and some words between indonesian & malay have different means. but i never have think indonesian & malay are different language, cuz over all i able to be understand when the one who speak malay.
if any different, easily you able to be understand. :)
where is urdu? which is spoken in India,Pakistan,Bangla,Nepal,Burma,Oman,Afghanistan,China....and arabic is among the top 2 in the world.....this list is crazy...
@Smitalovesyoga It might be the best language, but it not the oldest. Might be the oldest among languages still spoken by tiny populations. No, it is not the mother of all languages. Sanskrit, along with the iranian and european languages came from a common aryan language so it can't be the first. Sanskrit is too complicated to be the first. You should do some research on languages before listening to babas who speak to glorify everything indian.
where is Turkish ?

Urdu has more of Persian/Arabic words where as Hindi more of sanskrit. In this way, Hindi is spoken by around 250 million people where as Urdu as a mother toungue itself is spoken by around 450 million or more(Indo-Pak).

@firdakus93 well..... im indonesian :3 i also can speak malay~ but i think malaysian and indonesian language has different language and dialects! like example in indonesian we call student: murid. but in malay they call it: budak
pichubright 1 week ago
@pichubright Greetings. :)
Hello there. I think when someone speaks malay, over all you able to be understand. Malay and Indonesian like British English and American English.
so in Malay also call student is murid, budak = child like some places in Indonesia use budak.

sy kira kita dpt mngerti ktika sesorang bicara bhs melayu, krn bhs melayu & bhs indo, berasal dr bhs melayu riau sperti bhs inggris british & inggris amerika.
firdakus93 6 days ago
@pichubright Oops, carefull with your words. Budak in Indonesian mean "Slave", of course student are not slave. But Murid can be mean "Disciple" which sounds more polite.
Most different in this language is the structure of the sentence, in Indonesian Subject, predicate and object, but i dont think so with malayan.
4712030two 6 days ago
@firdakus93 No, i dont think Malay & Indonesian are same language. In some case when indonesian talk to the malaysian it have different meaning can be polite or impolite.
I would say: "they just have the same word but have different in meaning".
4712030two 6 days ago
@firdakus93 Bahasa is mean "Language" if you translate it to English, it doesn't refer to which country it was. English of course refer to the England.
I don't think Bahasa is fit for name of Malaysian language, what is fit and always spoken in malaysia it self is "Malay" does it.
4712030two 6 days ago
@4712030two I agree Bahasa means Language in english, and some words between indonesian & malay have different means. but i never have think indonesian & malay are different language, cuz over all i able to be understand when the one who speak malay.
if any different, easily you able to be understand. :)

Sanskrit is the oldest language in the world...
it's called the mother of all languages!!
Smitalovesyoga 2 months ago
@Smitalovesyoga It might be the best language, but it not the oldest. Might be the oldest among languages still spoken by tiny populations. No, it is not the mother of all languages. Sanskrit, along with the iranian and european languages came from a common aryan language so it can't be the first. Sanskrit is too complicated to be the first. You should do some research on languages before listening to babas who speak to glorify everything indian.
