Well, the law works...a judge made a good decision to punish financially the officer for trying to endangering the lives of firefighters unnecessarily by forcing them to move their vehicle which was being used as a protective barrier. Not only that, but the officer is also interfering with the firefighters job of doing their work at the scene of the accident - which could have resulted in possible time delays equating to an injured person dying...since ever second counts for medical attention.

It was a good idea to provide protection by parking the fire engine in one of the lanes. The cop didn't have the sense to see this. It comes down to who has final authority in this situation, the cop, or the firefighter. If the firefighter had a right to park there in an emergency, then the cop hasn't a legal leg to stand on, but if the cop has the final say, then the cop was in the right.

Well, the law works...a judge made a good decision to punish financially the officer for trying to endangering the lives of firefighters unnecessarily by forcing them to move their vehicle which was being used as a protective barrier. Not only that, but the officer is also interfering with the firefighters job of doing their work at the scene of the accident - which could have resulted in possible time delays equating to an injured person dying...since ever second counts for medical attention.

It was a good idea to provide protection by parking the fire engine in one of the lanes. The cop didn't have the sense to see this. It comes down to who has final authority in this situation, the cop, or the firefighter. If the firefighter had a right to park there in an emergency, then the cop hasn't a legal leg to stand on, but if the cop has the final say, then the cop was in the right.

Cops just THINK they are ALWAYS in charge. A Motor vehicle crash is considered a fire scene. Police officers are there to DIRECT traffic, and assist us in any way possible. Notice the firetruck stayed where it was and the Firefighter didnt get in trouble.
