Supermarkets sell Taco Bell brand vegetarian refried beans. They're awesome, and I've tried to make my own as Burgdorf suggests, but it's just not the same as the vegetarian refried-bean gorditas and 7-layer burritos made at the take-out are.

So, Hitler has a point.

But, I don't like supporting big businesses (don't want to give them my money) when I am able to make the product for myself.

@mphello - they put trademark flavourings in most of those kinds of foods, that is what their specific tastes are and why they're so different to the food if you make it yourself.

there's a UK / BBC series i think called Superbrands, the fast food / mcdonalds one has some info on it.
