WOA WOA WOA SLOW DOWN GIRL, I learned this piece straight from James Mulholland and trust me its much much slower than you're taking it. this is not a song to be plowed through like that. The sound you need for this song is what you're using at the 3:40 mark throughout the song in exception of the louder portions, but even then not as loud as you took it. At the beginning of the piece at the hmm's try to make it more straight toned to match the quality of the french horn I love your voice though
@joeconley60 I know, I know! Chorally, it's much easier to do this piece at the tempo you (and Mulholland) suggest, but as a solo, when I slowed it down, I was forced to breathe "in between" phrases, and it ended up sounding really cheap. So, I sacrificed tempo for smoothness.
And I would also agree with you about the straight tone, but my voice teacher would have had my hide. Unfortunately, senior recitals are not the place to insist on doing it "my way." (:
