what is the point in arguing? I have stopped answering such questions on forums. You can not convert the other or even convince them that they are wrong in their convictions. If you are not sure yourself Tim might help I guess. I came upon this accidentally and this whole setup reminds me of TV-evangelism. Can not find God in discussions, need to pray, in silence
@nikontoss I respectfully disagree. I became a convert to the Catholic faith because of apologetic arguments like the ones Mr. Staples offers. Staples also became a convert because of "arguments" from a Catholic that knew his faith. The Holy Spirit is the only one that can ultimately change someone's heart, but apologetics can help break down those walls that people put up for themselves. Anyway, that's my two cents. God bless.
@Iraneus I agree they are useful when you have the questions yourself. But I would not bother using this info for "forum battles" or discussion with protestants. I think that historically apologetics were just a developmental phase in theology, when the Church was finding her own identity, distinguishing herself from other worldviews, heresies. The same progress, I think, should take place in individual's life. It is a good start, but should not stay as a mode of communication with the other.
@RidgeofEternity yes indeed! i started looking for stuff on defending the faith because ive been stunned, upset and baffeled by all the false allegations against it on the web! some of its just silly, such as we worship nimrod- i posted that id never heard of nimrod and told the person to make sure they checked their facts before making such statements- he got quite mardy! but some of the accusations are quite nasty, and it doesnt matter what i say they just wont listen!it upsets me a bit.
