  • sounds very crisp and looks nice to boot

  • Yes, this has the "L" reproducer, BUT it is the "fish-tail" L, which was essentially of the same shape as a reproducer weight from a Model "H" 4-minute reproducer. Only the earliest examples had the fish-tail style weight.

  • Wow, this one is so early, that is has the 4 minute L reproducer, rather then the M reproducer that came a little later and permitted the user to play both 2 minute wax or 4 minute wax Amberol cylinder records simply by flipping the cartridge to the correct side. What a great piece of recorded sound history.

  • Lovely machine, everybit as good as an opera, but you have the avantage of closing the lid! Lovely piece, thanks for posting.

  • This is the first recording I've heard on a 1-A. Neat machine!

  • Serial number 2? That's quite a piece of history there!

I've seen pictures of some 1-A's, but not with gilding on the grille; is that an early feature?

  • very very nice, This model also plays back 2 minute black wax cylinders also?

When I think of a 78rpm player, with those steel needles, that dig into the record, and this - the cylinder phonograph, is way superiorr - better fedilety and great sound, - great job on the restoration of this machine :) really nice

  • sounds very good.cylinder recordings are something
