Pinker is the most unpretentious public intellectual I've ever seen. Nothing but respect for him. His books are likewise modest while extremely informative.

@TheGergaliciousness Unpretentious, but extremely arrogant. Pinker is undoubtedly one of the smartest intellectuals today, but if you were to talk to some of his students, I doubt you'd still have such a warm and fuzzy opinion about him. He won't allow for any kind of discussion that goes beyond--or even CHALLENGES--what he puts forth. As if is word and arguments are iron-clad. He even goes so far as to MAKE his students buy his goddamn books. He's a smart asshole, but an asshole is an asshole.
