Just because a show airs on a specific station does not automatically mean that the specific station is backing what is presented. Hense the disclaimer before the beginning of the program. They must have been bitterly disappointed the missions were cancelled. Without checking, I am pretty sure they all got to go into space in the end, either on the Skylab missions or on the Space Shuttle. I remember reading that Don Lind waited 16 years after he started astronaut training.

I would have liked to see the mission with the special LM sent in advance who's assent stage was actually a pressurized rover allowing for greater range of exploration.
