  • guys a bellend...

  • This works as prussik but than a bit faster|?

  • This is the worst demonstration of acension ever. 1:10 "this is a timely task" maybe cause your a fucking joke. Buy a dam harness designed for ascending ropes, buy a damn Croll and chest harness for it and set up a Frog System. You'll get up there in a third of the time. Oh and 3 points of contact? If you knew anything about rope access you'd know that a mechanical ascender with teeth, only counts as a .5 point of connection. There's my mini rant

  • There are easier than this!

    only need

1 ascender , canot prussik or Jumar or TIBLOC

1 self-locking plate GIGI KONG or Petzl autostop, grigri, ID etc

    and ready

  • I dont usually comment on Youtube but this is just sad.

Is this supposed to be an example of what not to do? What a joke.

  • for some reason i really enjoy finding videos i get to click the dislike button on...

  • Or you could footlock with a long prussic? xD Cheaper, quicker, and you can come down easier. Also he really should've had a stopper knot in the end of that line..

  • This is not a good way to ascend a rope. Please don't post videos that demonstrate improper or inefficient techniques just to promote your gym.

  • remove this video please

  • that least that looked safe. but you are right that would take foreverand a day.

  • It seems like the prussik knots seem to work somewhat better...I used two prussiks and an "emergency" harness to ascend a tree to remove a branch and then rappeled down...can descending be any harder lol?

  • Sorry bro, i think i'll just take the stairs.

  • Brutal.

  • You should figure out how to use jugs before you try to teach it, bud.

  • WTF??? Why the hell would you want to do that... totally inefficient, One Petzl Ascension, One Petzl Croll. Job done, far more efficient, and none of that tugging on the rope you seem to be rather a large amount of.

  • @InSanCen I completely agree. Or a set of Gibbs, or anything that works as a ropewalking system. Ascending a 200 foot rope the way he is would take forever and wear out one leg. Totally inefficient.

  • First, this video is pointless, as it has no actual instruction. Second, are you nervous? You keep gulping and swallowing. Third, it's not a TIMELY task, because timely means fast and efficient, it's a TIME CONSUMING task. So, here's what you do: #1 Get a script, #2 If you're going to make vids, don't do it just to plug your gym or you're wasting your time and viewers', #3 Have yourself a fantastic day.

  • The word isn't "timely" it's "time intensive"

  • seems to me this guy is more worried about getting sued so maybe he shouldn't do any videos at then except for to say come to my rock gym and I'll charge you a fortune to be taught then I'll show you the proper/safe ways .

  • other than the fact that you probably should have had both feet in the leg loop this is prober technique. it may not be the most efficient way but it is the safest way. and another thing i am 100% positive that some of the people told him it was improper technique have never climbed/ ascended a rope

  • @TheDanielRagsdale thats not how i climb and i do it every day on so 100 ft + trees

  • @mfoulks625 Let's see um bro.

  • you can replace the mechanical ascender by the prusik knot

  • YOI C AN REPLACE THE MECHANICAL ASCENDER BY THE PRUSIK KNOT

  • Comment removed

  • lol, I dont know much, but i did a bit of self taught SRT on knots and it was a lot more efficient than that set up!

  • This is not a correct method of mechanical ascension.

  • Not a good video, 1:40 wasted time. Delete this thing please.

  • This technique is a good way to give yourself permanent knee ligament damage. With every completed movement up the rope you have just concentrated your full body weight on the junction of your lateral femoral condyle where it presses hard upon the lateral meniscal ligament at the tibial plateau. In doing so, the lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and the anterior cruciate ligament has to take the full load to hold the knee joint in place. Eventually you will damage your ligaments permanently.

  • sorry, but instead of telling where to go learn it, you should have done that yourself. What you are showing us is completly inefficient.

  • looks like you tried to make some sort of frog ascension system but didn't get it. maybe get a book or search the many ways of ascending the rope up on the web. you have the tools but are not using them correctly.

  • Comment removed

  • there are many more efficient ways to ascend the rope, especially with what you have.

  • lol looks like someone needs to show him first:P,

  • On the 31 pitch route i did nearly all parties used two petzl ascenders. they are quick and simple to use. Ignore the begrudgers.

  • ..man you looked off-breathe,...

  • this is poor technique. If you make a crevasse rig with 2 leg loops, and attach that to a prussik, or similar device, it eliminates having to jumar with 2 weighted devices.

  • Why dont you use a petzl croll instead of a second ascender.

  • its very crapyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy this kind of technique is not used here in Brasil cause its very bad for the beginers.

  • crapppppppppppppppyy

  • geesh, this technique is that crappy don't use it!!

  • talk about making something thats easy and a joy to do into a difficult and ardous task! All you need is a hand ascender, chest croll and pantin and then walk the rope!

  • Bloody oath mate, thats the gear i use and I leave people im my dust.

  • Bavardage inutile, faire compliqué quand on peut faire simple avec un Croll et sans trop de fatigue !

  • You should put a weight at the bottom of the rope so that you don't need to pull it evry time... Try that

  • i ckimb alot i find mechanical devices are good but nothing is better then a attachment knots thats why i use the Petzl Pantin Foot Ascender to save time plus foot locking screws up your boots and a normal fiction hitch system with it.

  • Unglaublich. :-((

  • Terrible system.

  • maybe it's just me but i hate the mechanical devices, if you put in yo're bag all that stuff you'll end with a weight... and if mechanical fails?

but hey what doo i know about climbing in the gim?? i only do it at work in all kind of places and situations to screw and wheld when there is no other way....lol

  • Petzel ascenders don't fail. Even so, every once in awhile one should tie a crossover knot in the rope after passing. Since you've probably not done 25 pitch route with aid, you lack the appreciation of the ascenders.

  • Very good point, and one that should have been included in the above video.

  • its possible to make it easier and faster

  • wach mikebarter387 videos hee does that outdors when all kind of things could go wrong...

  • WOW you make it look soo easy ...

  • it is ?

  • Tard... Anyone who tried to do a 200' fixed line like that would flame out in 50' and bail. Jeesus christ. Go see the Chris Mac Supertopo video. That dude knows his crap!

  • fucking expert village videos ..they are so useless and appear in every search
