  • They must think the world knows who JPJ is since he's the only one who's name they didn't show.

  • 5:38 Jimmy Page throw his cigarette like a mystical gangster.

  • 5:21 Haha, Jimmy just shaking his head after the question about Zepp's future.

  • love thoes three guys period. led zep!!

  • Why the fuck does everyone ignore John Paul Jones?

  • Jimmy Page is stoned outta his mind but of course drugs brings out the best of you if your any of type of an artist or writer.

  • @Redtsar999 I hope that comment was sarcastic...

  • John Paul Jones doesn't get the Credit/Respect he deserves and doesn't Plant seem a little feminine?

  • Jimmy Page will be sexy even when he's dead. So will John. Robert scares the shit out of me. And I don't think he's sexy.

  • Whatever keith richards has so much more chrasima in person

  • Lol so stoned (: way to go Jimmy

  • 1985. page's heroin period! which was followed by the alcoholic period (the fat Jimmy page period) thank fuck he lived though it all! legend!

  • uhauhahua

    fantastic!!

    Jimmy Page STONED!!

    amazing !!

  • jimmy actually says at 0:50 "Yes, for about an hour and a half or something, you know." but he is definately drunk because he slurs it all together.

  • Too bad JPJ was like drop out of Led, even tho he was the glue and moving force for the band...

  • JPJ is like the George Harrison of led Zeppelin. He never gets enough credit! They flashed Page, Plant and Collins' names but they didn't flash his.

  • yep ...they all got $ 100,000 ... should kwon my mum worked on it

  • hahaha jimmy page at 1:19

  • Plant looked old then too. Funny Page was 5 years olders

  • page was so drunk he had his flanger pedal on playing the first 2 songs that made the guitar sound like shit and im a huge zep fan but that was shit

  • it was 4:20 for jimmy

  • splendidi unici,semplicemente straordinari i led zeppelin

  • they focused on phil collins more than jpj, an actual member of led zep, it sucks =/

  • Robert, i <3 u but just stfu. y didn't that tool interviewing them let Jonsey speak??? haha i love pages quote : yeah about ahala alaboula ya know hahaha

  • reporter- what does live aid mean to you

(If page answered- a chance to do a gig and get mega high after

  • hahahahahaahha Jimmy Page is completely HEAVY STONED lol

  • Why are they treating John Paul like he's not there?

  • For those of you think Jimmy was drunk, he was actually high lol. But anyways I fucking hate the reporter.

  • @odjo17 At the end of the day, unless you were there personally with Jimmy Page you wouldn't know whether he was ill, extremely tired, high or drunk!

  • does phil say"and they were shit" at 2.05

  • @blkfrench26 Yes, John Paul is more talented at bass than a vocalist. Good job...

Acting like a homosexual was the style back then. Back then, being straight but acting like a homo was hot and got you the ladies..

  • page and plant are high

  • haha jimmy is soooo wasted

  • cooocaine

  • I love the fact that even though Page is wasted out of his mind, he's still coherent enough to roll his eyes at Plant's smarmy, "of course I am in the 80s and I have my own career."

  • @deslock1 I loved that best part of the interview.

  • @tjrtherocksponge thanks for the Update... I read something on this, and assumed the rest, but that makes 100% sense

  • Lol, Jimmy rolling eyes at Plant 1:24.

  • journalist is a cunt

  • Who's who?

  • phil collins looks just like my cabbage patch kid.I put his name on it's birth certificate.

  • i hate how high page is

  • JImmy.... SMACK!

  • Ka ka Kokaine...

  • for christ sakes start asking jones rather than shoving the mike in plant's direction. No doubt great respect for Plant and Page but come on JPJ was the glue that kept that band so tight

  • xD The random subtitles that come up. "Robert Plant" "Jimmy Page" No crap.

  • the best pepsi publicity ever!

    great video!!!!

  • phil collins did his job john bonham died led zep was dead it was good phil excepted what he was suppose to i wouldve you wouldve zep forever fuck everyone who says phil sucks he does what he was suppose to do and his work proves it led zeppelin rules phil collins thank you for what you are please let the world live

  • @paclivesinalaska The whole thing is... Jimmy had Tony Thompson, and Phil begged Robert (since he was playing drums for Robert during that tour of Plants) and so they end up having 2, and they were off key most of the time. Phil Collins was his own in his own time, with his own style.

  • jimmy looks drunk and robert looks tanned lmao!!!!!!!!!! awesome

  • oh jimmy... he's so wasted.

  • Thanks for posting this. Been looking for this interview for a while. After I divorced in '91 my ex-wife took all my Zeppelin VHS tapes.

And of course the Live Aid DVD didn't have any of this.

    Love Plant in this one.!

  • I hate how the journalist ignores Jonesy...

  • 00.47 Jimmy says name or number

  • he deffinately played in that condition, I am the biggest zeppelin fan in the world but jimmy used to have a drug and alcohol problem.

  • pagey was smashed.

  • Someone's been drinkinggggg.

  • no,he say''they were sick''

  • Page performed in that condition?

  • I don't think so, this was a few hours after the performance

  • @ZoSoRecords I thought it was just after the performance cus pc was wiping off sweat! They all looked a bit sweaty!

  • Not 100% sure, but I think so

  • Jimmy is so cute when he's out of it :)

  • jimmy is soooo watsed lol

  • JAMES, YOU'RE DRUNK

  • Yes , this was Jimmy Page at his "nadir"

But all credit to him - he is still here and with us

    God bless

  • At this time it seemed as if it had been a million years since they were together even though it had only been 5 years.

  • I agree man!

  • Jimmy's fucked off his head haha!

  • jimmy is so fuckin annoyed with plant.lol....john paul must be like "stfu already"

  • Fuck..Pagey is so loaded....this is classic!!

  • hahaha when I began that interview I saw everyone was explosed but page beat them all !! :p

  • I was 19 at this time (now 43) and I had long curly hair (permed) and I totally loved seeing this clip.. not much live footage shown at that time, and Jimmy lived up to all I imagined him to be.. Not just being fucked up here, but the whole package with him playing and his after concert attitude! you are right man.. this is classic!!!

  • the eighty's ... damn bad hair, aqua net, and a Flock of Seagulls haha

  • I remember this event. My Mom is the woman in the back with the white tank top on the right. This was a great moment

  • jpjs is least reconised by twits. he was the only one who had any idea of music theory. i doubt zeppelin would have been able to write anything more complecated in terms of musicality than the first two albums without him. a good eg is rain song, obviously carefuly composed by someone who knows about music. he was just as special as the rest. and why do you think page and plant could wank about at the front on stage, cuz jpjs bass held it all together.

  • i completely agree, but they were all amazing at what they did, JPJ just happend to be AMAZING at the many many things he did.

  • @abrelosojo If so then we should have seen JPJ do more exceptional work after Led Zeppelin and get more fame than he ever did during his peak in the late 1970s. But, unfortunately JPJ never touched RP or JP in terms of popularity and in terms of record sales. His core support mainly comes from diehard Led Zeppelin fans who feel that he was sidelined during LZ and bass guitar players such as myself.

I'm glad someone on youtube recognizes JPJ's contributions to LZ. Long live Jonesy!

  • 80's hair cuts and sun glasses are ugly

  • at the beginning, the fucking reporter is like'' did you two rehearse before this event'' he totally fucking excludes john paul jones, he gets the shaft always, poor guy.

  • umm jones didnt just play the bass guitar...but poeple just recognize him as a boring bass player...but i dnt recognize jones as that.. i recognize jones as a skilled musician...he plays so many instruments other then bass and he is an amazing guy! and wat else does jimmy play? but not to put crap on jimmy they are both great musicians and jimmy page and john paul jones will always be one of my influences! someone told me no matter wat you played, you are still a great musician!

  • Well, yes, I know that whatever you play, you are "Talented" in your own right :)

And yea I know J.P.J played other stuff for Led Zeppelin, like the Keyboard, for which he did a great opening thing for Stairway to Heaven.

  • agree thanx to jpj led zeppelin could have all that versatility back in the day, but anyway each member was crucial.

  • yer man :)

  • Sad Face :(

Sorry guys, that my comment was bad.

  • wenever i listen to zeppelin i always think of jones b4 any of the other members....the bass player is the most important part of the band..if my band got interveiwed id always let my bass player have the first say...not me!

  • @LivingIn1969 yeah that dumbass reporter does, but i think out of jimmy page robert plant and JPJ, i think john paul jones is defenately the one who is having the most fun right now with his band Them Crooked Vultures.

  • @LivingIn1969 HE IS LAST IN THE LED ZEPPELIN FOOD CHAIN

  • ERASERHEAD 3:40

  • lol @ the 80's

  • I love his answer at around 5:30 "...... Yes"

  • Jimmy is great...

    Stoned!!!

  • yep.

  • you guys are fucking idiots jimmy is not on drugs he is drunk.....wow you guys fail...stop disrespecting the rock gods

  • jimmys like

yea we did aijdewi ausiakiyrkaos xD

  • Can you people stop bashing the musicians that played with Zep. It really isn't necessary.

  • page is smoking a cig or weed???

  • Jimmy's full of 80 proof & pcp......best player EVER!!!

  • sorry, forgot it was liveaid, it wasn't so much of a disaster, but they didn't reherse at all and didn't they have 2 drumers? like phil collins and another guy they had never plaid with? so it wasn't so much of a disaster, but Im sure it did inspire them to get together more than they would have.. plant always (even in this interview) talks of "this is it" a "one off" again repeated at O2, "one off" Im tired, not even spelling right

  • They never reheased with Phil Collins, bhut had that morning with Tony Thompson .. (he toured with Phil and Genesis sometimes)

TT filled the drum seat at a rehearsal in the late 80's with Plant, Page and JPJ ... they rehearsed in a small church hall to see if there was any magic there .. unfortunately TT was in a car accident that brought the rehearsals to a halt, Page said it wasnt to be so they never got together again.

  • My memory of Live Aid, is Page looking over medicated / bloated in the face, Plant was hoarse as he'd got a cold whilst on tour, Paul Martinez playing bass on Stairway was appauling, and Page's guitar was hopelessly out of tune for Rock N Roll ... still I loved every second of it .. especially when Plant looked affectionately at Page during Stairway. .. an overused phrase these days, but these guys were LEGENDS.

  • 24 years ago ... shame it was such a disaster, but still great to see ... wish i could have seen them in their day. funny JPJ getting ignored by the interviewer .. probably hasnt got a clue who he is.

  • It wasn't so much a disaster if you listen carefully, Page was perfect as always, They went on WAY later than they were supposed to, and they had technical troulbe. so in a way it was... Hit the nail on the head, JPJ never got his share of the credit

  • omfg jimmy is fucked up alot of drinkin ahha

  • guy at the back Paul Martinez who was playing bass for Plant at the time......his bass can be heard destroying Stairway on the VHS copy i have from the day...something for him to show the grandkids...the day i ballsed up Stairway in front of a billion people hahaha

  • let JPJ to speak!!!

didn't they forget him? he was the member of the greatest rock band on earth!!! fucking media...

    great vid.

  • I've literally only seen one or two vids where he speaks.

  • Amen! I love John Paul.

  • he is SO underapreciated as a bassist!!!

seriously. the boy's got some mad skills.

    did you ever hear "Tidal"?

  • yes.. tha was very good.. I have many of his solo stuff. found some bootlegs as well, crackback is one song you could rank him on.. that driving bass line that goes up and down, he plays it like eddie van halen plays his guitar.

  • @GodSaveTehQueen ,

JPJ is shy; he rarely speaks up up unless first spoken to. The last time he did was to ask to join JP's new post-Yardbirds project, and that was only after Mrs. JPJ put him up to it.

  • who's the fly on the wall behind Robert Plant like he needs to be there?

  • He played bass with Robert solo LP.. not sure why he was with them? I do not remember him playing?

  • Well Robert was on tour at that time I guess he was Robert's guest

  • lol poor robert plant trying to explain the fucking abortion that just happend on stage.... hes prob pissed off because mick jagger pulled off a solo spot on live aid

  • I love how Jimmy's all laughing when Robert start talking about how he has his own career in the 80s.

  • quote of the day: yeah.. we did, fobout ananault.. sn er, you know. - Jimmy Page. (at 0:51)

  • I don't think JPJ, or Robert wanted them to know they rehearsed, due to how poorly they performed, it could be a scapegoat, but Page wanted to get his 2 cents in,, he said.. "Yeah we did, for about a hour and a 1/2" .. JPJ made a great recovery by stating "Very quick.. very fast and furious indeed"

  • yeah.

but i just thought it sounded sorta funny. :)

  • I LMAO when i read your post.. it was right on the nail.. i was just elaborating on the situation :)

  • jesus, robert, i love you but stfu and let jimmy and jonesy talk.

and phil collins shouldn't even be talking at all. fail.

  • jimmy couldnt really talk at the time

  • oh yeah. i forgot. heroin's a bitch.

  • Page was off the heroin between 82 and 83 allegedly...

  • Whats wrong with phil collins? Yer and i agree with you for letting jimmy talk

  • Let Jimmy speak for christ's sake.

  • Pagey's definitely stoned and drunk, probably on the horse too,....

Plant sounds like he just split an eightball with Phil "ay shee oh" Collins

Jones is probably waiting for his wife and kids to pick him up in 15 minutes.

    Phil's a massive tool.

  • i always wondered if he may had been on cocaine, since he is rubbing his nose much.. I also get a kick out of Phil, when he said "It don't do the things it is suppose to do" and rubs his nose and glances at Page, as if to say the coke was bunk

  • phil collins is a blow hard!

  • Jimmy isn't wasted. He's totally fucked on Heroin.

  • Do you think that he is smoking a joint in this? Right on camera? I mean, no one smokes roll-ups now but i dunno about then.

  • wat do u mean roll up?

  • He quit herion right before Bonham died. I doubt he'd take chances with any drug 6 years after he kicked a nasty addiction.

  • I agree.. He may have had a few jack and cokes here, but i doubt he was on the hard stuff.. he was doing the firm around this time as well, he may have just been bummed about the performance and got drunk, but that is prolly all!

  • O ,,, on band aid

  • phil collins played drums with led zepp if l/m not mistake

  • Is it John paul in the orange t-shirt right??

  • Fuckin hell Jimmy is wasted LOL awesome

  • LMFAO!!! He is!! He is so adorable when he is drunk!!

  • Ahaha. He so isn't drunk. I think its time you learnt about drugs... Jimmy is out of it. High on something.

Led Zeppelin have always been famous for their excess anyway.

  • what the fudge is Phil Collins doing there?

  • i would of loved to see what Led Zeppelin would have become in the 80s. They would be cheesy like alot of shit back then but take all the good stuff that was in the 80s. They would still rock and not become Phil Collins

  • John is in the orange shirt? who's the dude in the yellow?

  • Paul Martinez... he played bass for Plants solo tour

  • so what was he doing there, leaning into the camera view?

  • He played bass with them on Stairway to Heaven at this show, as Jones moved over to the keyboards.

  • oh jimmy

    ...tsk tsk

    drugs

  • that's what I was thinking

'is that a joint or something?...he's acting strange...'

  • could be just all the effects of the heroin he was doing

  • 2:48... ahahahahhahahahaha xD

  • Please Welcome Led Zeppelin! Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones- and Phil Collins?!

  • jpj sounds like he has new false teeth.

  • Jimmy was stoned :) here

  • No offense to Mr. Collins but whose bright idea was it to team him up with the remaining members of LZ? There couldn't have been a worse fit. Not that he's solely to blame. No rehearsal + way too much alcohol = shitty performance

  • Collins was drummer on Robert Plants Principle of moments LP, and toured with him a few times, and this was shortly after

  • ease up on the cocaine fellers.

  • its true there their there playing thats what zepp was trying to do and thats ok with me .i think it was a after thought when they relized people were bitching that this isnt 1970's anymore and they cant just show there faces anymore video and audio recoding got alot more detailed

  • John Paul Jones was awesome at Bonnaroo. He played with everybody. Plant/Allison Kraus sucked this past year. JPJ definately one hell of a musician.

  • Page should do a solo tour joined with other musicians. Plants being a dick and stopping them from doing one last Led Zeppelin tour.

  • Robert's ego was huge in this interview. And it continues today.

  • I agree. Jimmy should've punched him in the face after he said what he said.

  • huh?

  • John Paul Jones is just giving Jimmy and Robert a look that says "you drunken fools". Jones is so unappreciated since he was in a band among gods. Kind of like Ringo Starr.

  • Yeah, Jones is so unappreciated. I find him awesome. ^^ at the look... Plant isn't drunk... Looks coked up.

  • Yes. JPJones remains way too under appreciated.

  • yeah he has many great basslines like in heartbreaker and the lemon song

  • Dazed and Confused has one of the best bass lines in living memory!!

  • except Jones is a good musician

  • jimmy....drunk...

  • i only read about this interview. I remember being told about this. I happen to have the live aid performance on bootleg video and it is of excellent quality (No interview) but Led Zeppelin thought there performance was so bad it is NOT on the LIVE AID DVD (neither is DURAN DURAN "VIEW TO A KILL" WHERE SIMON HITS A BAD NOTE) but the DVD does have The Who under rehersed "WHO ARE YOU" - I need to go back and re-watch...This interview is transcribed in the book HAMMER OF THE GODS...

  • phil should have let the drummer that rehersed the gig do it by himself.i believe his name was tony banks, collins should have kept his beasty ego at bay!

  • i think jimmy has to much of that "pepsi"

    fall out boy suck
