  • This one and abby's goal in the usa vs brazil womens worldcup are prob the two best comm made in usa soccer history I would say of all of usa sports but then people wouldget butthurt cuz soccer isnt big in the usa which is sad

  • Is it me or is Ian Darke the worlds best sportscaster. I would watch him commentating gay scat porn, he is that good. He Made a great American sports moment even better.

  • it was a good game

  • I cried watching. I love USMNT. Can't wait for 14 world cup

  • LANDON DONOVAN!!!!!

  • take that England

  • Ian darke should commentate the fifa video games

  • @Moecrusader I would like that comment, but I got chills watching it in 2012

  • This is without a doubt one of the best calls in American sports history. Ohhhh it's incredible!

  • ever since this game i have been a huge fan of ian darke...amazing commentator!!

  • 0:15 Ray J?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Yank commentator:

"OOooh yeea and here we goooO! Howard with a big throw. Great play from the quarterback Howard!

"And Donovan is dribbling like a real cool dude!!! Super soccer skills, man!!

"Oh and the centre comes into the 18 along the low level!

"Dempsey with the shoot at the goal! OHH and the goalie has made a super-dee-duper blockage there!

"Oh and here comes Landon Donovan! AND he makes the shoot in the direction of the soccer net! OH AND it's in in the lower quadrant! WOWEEE! Awesome!"

    "

  • there's absolutely no number on the amount of times i could watch this and get goosebumps. bless you ian darke, and "go, go USA!" indeed.

  • I know Ian and he loves MLS and the US national team. Said he broke a good pair of headphones when Donovan scored as he jumped up and the got pulled to the floor and smashed them as he was jumping up and done. Wish there was video of that.

  • @Tim733733 Thank him for all of us for one of the all-time great sports calls.

  • Two years later and I still get chills, I still get teary. What a moment. One of the great sports calls of all time. If only American commentators could call a game that well.

  • @IBITgreg Americans have some fantastic commentators. Just...not for this sport.

  • @dkb2778 Just as American soccer players are going abroad to learn how to raise their games, maybe some US TV commentators should do the same. I think it would make a difference in fan appreciation in this country if the games were called better.

  • i was at work and began jumping up and down screaming like a banshee when i saw this happen.

  • I actually wept after seeing this. One for what I witnessed, and second for thinking no one else in America even watched. Glad I was wrong on number two.

  • @aeternusero You and me both. I cried like a small child when that ball hit the net.

  • will forever get goosbumps watching this. one of the greatest moments ive ever seen.

  • I'm crying.

  • GO GO USA!

  • Best part of the call is 0:19, "Oh it's incredible!"

  • I had tears rolling down my face.

  • algeria? did that country ever classified to a world cup? YES WE CAN? americans...

  • @javierbaldrich what country are you for fag? probably england

  • I remember i pulled a all nighter so i could watch this game and fell asleep during pre-game and woke up to my brother yelling when landon donovan scored....

  • Like if you still have chills in 2012

  • ian darke should do every major soccer game around the world.. world cups, champions league final, mls playoffs, manchester united vs man city, barca vs real madrid.

  • put this man in fifa 12

  • Like if you got chills in 2012

  • got to be one of the greatest moments in American sports history

  • @smithtj3 What, Beating Algeria? Haha.

  • Still my favorite quote "go go, USA"

  • like if you got chills in 2012

  • 2012 baby

  • Great call by Ian Darke

  • "You could not write a script like this"

    — wait, who is this guy?

  • had a day off from work that day, and i chose to stay home and watch this rather than go to a celebrity pro-am golf tournament. best decision of the summer, this gets me every time!

  • Ian Darke. Pay him.

  • I still get chills!!!

  • CERTAINLY THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "You could not write a script like this!"

Americans. Unexpected. :D HELL YEAHH. USA!

  • Still get chills!!

  • USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! usa

  • Ian Darke, England's answer to Argentina's Andres Cantor.

  • Sure American football and basketball are fun but Soccer or World Football is AMAZING.

    Its a very intense sport

  • NO WE Can't

  • Joe Buck would've called this better.

  • @duchaneaux absolutley not, Buck is good but that sent chills up my spine

  • @shutoutgoalie8209 lol I was joking. Buck would've done the opposite: "Dempsey's shot is blocked and... Donovan scores. USA will advance and coming up next on FOX... Cops. And after that.... Cops. And after that... Family Guy. And later on... Cops. Good Night."

  • @duchaneaux Nailed it.

  • foarte tare golul...bulan

  • @stormwood well JP is one of the only good american anouncers but he can match ian darke

  • He needs to do commentary in FIFA and PES. :)

  • Ian Darke is a BAMF when it comes to commentating. I want him to call American football, and I also want to see Keith Jackson call soccer.

  • Why can't Ian Darke do commentary for all the big games of every sport? I swear, he could make Checkers exciting.

  • OMG WTF WHY ARE THERE SO MANY COMMENTS ON THE COMMENTATOR THERE ARE MORE THINGS TO SOCCER/FOOTBALL THAN THE PERSON WHO TALKS

  • @Meech0w Because his voice and his commentary are a huge part of our memory of this moment and this game.

  • like if you got chills in 2011

  • @Moecrusader Fuck 2011. I have chills in 2012

  • @Moecrusader * 2012

  • @Moecrusader now even in 2012

  • @Moecrusader I get chills now!

  • @Moecrusader God willing, I'll still be getting chills ten years from now when I hear this.

  • one of the incredibly rare moments in which an english speaking commentators talked better than a spanish speaking commentators

  • Most English commentators are always the best anyways...

  • Im Canadian and i remember watching this game,,, when he scores i was so happy for you USA great moments for your country.

  • Ian Darke needs to announce more American Sports events. 2012 London was a complete accident. Practice makes perfect. LOL.

  • this is on the podium with the miracle on ice as one of the greatest moments in american sports history. my glasses managed to travel about 40 feet when i jumped and lost my mind at this. fucking epic.

  • @tigereye04 Nothing will ever beat the miracle on ice

  • that was one of the greatest days of my life?

  • @Blazen1212 me too. im a huge usa soccer fan. thats y my youtube username is ldonovanrox88

  • So gutted Ian Darke commentates in the US now, enjoy his voice! If you like this you should listen to his boxing commentary, absolutely spectacular.

  • oh mygod i remember how i screamed when he made that goal. man that was awesome, one day ian darke will do the same call for me as i win the usa its first fifa world cup

  • ian Darke is the best announcer there is

  • Suck it Algeria. You terrorist jerks!

  • gives me chills everytime

  • @vuzedfg couldn't agree more bro lol

  • Comment removed

  • @vuzedfg well your obviously a stupid faggot aren't you.

  • if you dislike this, you hate football. one of the greatest goals and greatest calls period.

  • @tigereye04 9 algerians have internet....

  • Whoever dislikes this video is messed up

  • where did i hate on the game???

i commented on the quality of the video as an explanation for the dislikes, which you so racially attributed to algeria having only 2 people on youtube.

But considering your country is established on racism from 1607, it's not surprising that you people still have that mentality...

anyway, ur just a 15 yr old yankee, which means, by universal standards, u have a mentality of an 8 year old - i wouldn't have replied to ur comment in the 1st place had i known that

  • @ShtaryBud wow, ouch, i am so afraid of what a random stereotypical internet person says. Oh wait, I couldn't care less. You say we are racist. We got over that. You are the one still saying "you people". And by the way, how does me liking this video make me racist.

Sorry, but when people are celebrating their nations success, they dont go buy an HD camera. Either dont complain,or watch somewhere else

  • @ShtaryBud your english is perfect, its like you want to be like us =]

  • @rrschacht17

I'm trilingual. I know it's an uncommon thing where you come from, but it's very common elsewhere.

But speaking ENGLISH fluently has nothing to do with wanting to be AMERICAN.

And like I said, I wasn't hating on the USA win. Congratulations to them, they were the better team and they won. But there's no need for people to post racist comments against the opposition on YouTube.

  • I think it more Americans, especially in poorer communities, realized just how much the stars made who played in the EPL or any of the other major leagues in Europe made, we'd see improvements much more quickly.

  • personally i think this call was so much better than the women's one. The way he says 'and Donovan has scored' gives me goosebumps every time.

  • Ian Darke is the man. Awesome commentary. Just got goosebumps after watching it again a year later. His call of the Women's USA v Brazil goal was excellent on Sunday, too.

  • Ian Darke is fantastic.

  • GO GO USA! CERTAINLY THROUGH! OHHH ITS INCREDIBLE!

  • Which Darke call was better? This or yesterday's in germany? My vote goes for the better call here, better goal yesterday.

  • @gdietz105 I like yesterdays call better but if you listen to both he says the same thing virtually. "Can you believe this."

  • If it wasn't for those goddamn refs we could have been in the semi-finals

  • I am actually glad that they took away the first goal because it just made the game much more exciting

  • Ian Darke is the best in the business. listening to him gives me chills up and down my spine no matter how many times i've heard it

  • @GoCubs4ever Yeah he's my favorite announcer

  • @GoCubs4ever

    Cool.

But he's nothing special over here in the UK - there's a lot better where he came from!

Not to say this wasn't good commentary - I just thought it was what I would expect from a professional English soccer commentator at a high level.

Maybe it's just culture. I expect commentary to be like this - whereas in the USA it might be something special.

  • @jazzx251 Yerh I've heard some American commentators and they're absolute shite... hehe they're getting so happy over an average commentator (Ian Darke) MOTTY ALL THE WAY BABAY!

  • @iambroIyhaha Then you haven't heard JP Dellacamera. He's absolutely amazing. Nobody is better.

  • @stormwood78 Obviously you would think that...

  • im sorry but this still beats wambach's goal today

  • Howard gratefully claims it, distribution... brilliant. Landon Donovan... there are things on here for the USA.. can they do it here?! Cross! Dempsey is denied again! BUT DONOVAN HAS SCORED!!!!!!! OH CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!!!!! GO GO, USA!!!!!!!!!! CERTAINLY THROUGH!!!!!!!!!! Ohhhhh its INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!! You could not WRITE a script like THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Ian Darke > any announcer in America.

  • @IVdaaze Ian Darke is absolutely top class. I live in the US and no one comes close to his verbal variety, timing, awareness, emphasis, etc. Any American (soccer...or any other sport) announcer would have fumbled that call like Ricky Williams.

  • @pbfoley seriously, i live in the states too and listening to Joe Buck (dude who announces like every big game) would have just been like "And DONOVAN SCORES. THE US WINS. WOW, THAT WAS CRAZY." lol

  • If Ian Darke keeps announcing American soccer he's going to suffer a heart attack, first it was the Donovan goal and today it was Wambach of the women's team.

  • @CaptainCrazzzy If he keeps announcing american soccer im going to suffer a heart attack along with him

  • My ears... the pain...

  • This Is Why Football (Soccer) is the game i Love!

  • as an american, i am not typically a huge 'soccer' fan, but when this happened, was really excited

  • "OH IT'S INCREDIBLE!"

  • I was so happy about this. I was jumping up and down and making phone calls to my friends asking them if they saw it.

  • I'm watching the womens world cup right now, and thought i should relive this goal. I remember getting home in time to see we weren't going to advance. I was talking to my dad telling him we were about to tie when this play happened. I was screaming on the phone lol. Greatest sports moment ever for me

  • If our athletes grew up playing soccer, we'd be unstoppable. Imagine Lebron in goal? Or better yet, Allen Iverson might have been the greatest soccer player ever to come out of America.

  • @minime33344 Lol NO!

  • This is the greatest sports moment since Babe Ruth called his shot.

  • Ian made my day with that call

  • I don't know what it is about soccer. It's the biggest youth sport in this country, but the stigma attached to it just kills participation as you get into high school. All the parents want their kids playing football and basketball and the support just falls through the roof. Probably will take another decade or two to get past the parents that don't realize a child's potential at a sport because they'd rather have little Johnny, football star instead of the next Dempsey or Donovan.

  • fuck american football, from a portuguese american REAL football is all that mattters!

  • shut up barca feary we had to goals that werent called because of bullshit refs

  • just wait until the black portion of america starts playing soccer, then every countries gunna get their ass kicked

  • well duh...can you name me a better tandem up top than lebron james and derrick rose, with chris johnson or reggie bush as an attacking midfielder?...its obvious that if the united states put their best athletes on the soccer field, as every other country does, that they could never be beaten.

  • This is probably the greatest counterattack in the history of soccer. after watching this i cried for like 30 mins. the stage was immense and now im really glad that this happened cus this opened americas perspective to the sport up. Ive always loved this sport and im now proud to say it in america. I wanna thank tim howard landon donovan clint dempsey and jozy altidore for this wonderful moment in american soccer and of course ian darke for the calling of the game

  • @wutupmayne Donovan's Goal against Brazil was a pretty amazing counter-attack if you watched the 2009 Confederation's Cup.

  • A day I'll never forget.

  • ian darke > any voice. ever.

  • thank you for posting a legit video about this!!! ive been clicking for like 10 minutes trying to find a good one

  • english commentator saying go go usa :) good to hear support from the country that once owned us lol

  • I love this commentator! He should do the Premier League and La Liga next season!

  • The 4 dislikes are from communist bastards

  • The weird thing is that the fans from the UK and USA were pulling for each other that day. Before the match Group B has follows 1 . Slovenia 4 pts. England & USA 2 pts and Algeria 1 pt. If the game ended in a draw the USA was out because England was beating Slovenia.

  • @Renagade70 I think we were rooting for England 1: Because it would've been better for us, and 2: We were REALLY pissed at the Slovenia game, freakin' referee denied us the win against Slovenia, and no disrespect to the actual team we were still pissed.

  • GOAL GOAL USA

  • @adgaliff point granted -- wasn't alive for the miracle on ice, and watched this live, so definitely biased. When we win the world cup, it's going to be mass hysteria.

  • @tigereye04, One of these days, U.S. soccer will create its own "Miracle." Its getting closer. Beating Spain in the 2009 Confed. Cup, then almost beating Brazil in the final, then this 2010 WC coupled with many young, U-20 players coming up. Its getting closer to happening.

  • there is no limit to the amount of times i can watch this. ian darke is amazing and as theNAM731 put it, greatest. sports. moment.

  • @tigereye04 maybe second to the miracle on ice.... but as soon as we win the world cup, it will become the biggest moment.

  • "Tears"

  • apparently 2 people in algeria have youtube =)

  • @twinsfan0808 haha

  • @twinsfan0808 and apparently 2 people in usa like soccer. no anger...

  • @twinsfan0808

no, but some of us aren't used to watch such atrocious quality videos like your people are used to

  • @ShtaryBud wow dude, really. Doubt you could do better recording the TV. anyway, its been a year, get over it

  • Comment removed

  • @twinsfan0808

    get over it??

you're the one still crying over it... u say it's been a year, yet u commented on this video 2 months ago...

by the way, im not algerian u dumbass

  • @ShtaryBud lol, i am over it. it was a happy moment that people like to remember. your the one who hates just because of this game, so get over it.we won, its over. done. stop crying and making up insults to feel better.

  • @twinsfan0808 i couldnt agree more

  • Still gives me goosebumps =' )

  • Since Johan Cruijff couldn't get Americans to watch soccer, no one can. Certainly not donovan even though this goal was well deserved. A brilliant last minute goal.

  • @Gocavs1990 Well, the entire situation is completely different. More people in the USA pay attention now (thanks to AYSO, parents at least understand the game more since their kids play it, and kids who grew up playing AYSO at least pay attention during WC's, if not the leagues at all) than did back during the Cold War, as any sport where people didn't use their hands was considered "Communist", a good "Blue-Collar" sport.

  • go go usa is right!!! easily the greastest sports moment i have witnessed in my life

  • @totahstreetjhon Are you taking the piss? I said that if America really focused on soccer then they COULD win the world cup. Look at countries like Spain, Brazil and Germany, countries who are generating a tradition of finding young talent and developing it. Don't be arrogant enough to think that America will dominate world sport, and what you were saying about 3rd world countries...wtf?? Ghana did incredibly at the world cup. I really don't understand your point mate, sounds like you're dumb.

  • @retroboydeccles Please don't judge all of us Americans by this idiot @totahstreetjhon Not all of us are ignorant and idiotic. Not all of us have a severe lack of class.

You made a really good point. And speaking as an American, I can say for myself that I fell in love with World Cup Soccer when I saw this game. Landon Donovan may have made the shot that will generate the needed interest in the sport to make it a higher priority.

    Cheers, mate.

  • @AngusGibsonT Trust me dude you can go anywhere in the world and find idiots like that guy, but I do actually have a very high opinion of you americans, haha. Yeah Landon Donovan would be amazing in any league in the world. It's all up to finding another player of his class for the states now. Then you can start to build a real 'soccer' tradition over on your side.

  • Awesome call

  • From an english perspective, I think you yanks have the chance of being world champions in a few decades. You have quality emerging, but it's all about how America's focus on sport is. You guys obviously have your 'football' which is the most popular sport for you, as is basketball. But what I'm trying to say is that if America really focused on the development of 'soccer' players and the game as a whole, you guys could do it.

  • @retroboydeccles thanks for that. I've played soccer and basketball my whole life, and no one watches soccer. And I apreciate being called a yankee. I agree with you. We have some talent budding, but the better players mihgt always be in Europe.

  • @retroboydeccles, Very interesting and respectful (much appreciated) perspective. I have noticed that the U.S. has some very young players who have some premier goal scorers which was what was lacking at the WC 2010 and other international comps. Just not enough guys that can put the ball through the net.

  • @retroboydeccles Though the mls is still struggling in quality, the US has taken great strides in the youth developmental program. I play for DC United academy team and last year we tied west hams youth team, as well as beat china's national team for our age group. The quality of the players that i have been surrounded with is unbelievable, and although you cant see it now the generation of soccer players being raised now is of the likes the US has never seen before

  • @retroboydeccles I really enjoy your respect for us because when I watch soccer, football (btw thank you for not starting a fuss over the name of the game aswell lol), it's all filled with hate toward the US and how we aren't 'doing it right'. Just nice to see someone with respect, because there ARE many people who love the game here in America not as many as other places, but the ones who follow it here are devoted fans. Including me, I LOVE THIS SPORT!

  • @retroboydeccles if we put half the athletes in the NFL on the pitch, we'd be world champs in 8 years.

  • @degree4man with the exception of the fatass linemen, bulldozer linebackers, slow tight ends, slow QBs (maybe Vick could make it). The only positions that have players who would thrive in soccer under the right training and conditions would be cornerback and the speedy small-sized wide receivers (DJax/Hester/Harvin/Jacoby Ford etc). RBs are usually too muscular as a group.

  • @retroboydeccles Well, a lot of us take soccer seriously, and are really good. My coach, (who is REALLY good) got offered to play for LA Galaxy, and the national team, and he DENIED it. I guess a lot of us don't think we can do it, or are afraid of what might happen. Getting flamethrowers thrown at you, blown up, sniped, I have no idea! We do already have quality, just not enough.
