Everyone who has seen it knows his last name is Wyatt, I suggest he watches it properly and he will clearly hear Hopper call him that name. Also, in the documentary Shaking the Tree, Hopper confirms and explains the names - he was comparing the two characters to Billy the Kid & Wyatt Earp.
