  • "like" if you hate friends

  • Friends-3

  • When was this on friends?

  • friends cast singing ! XD

  • The movie was great(Walter and Jack)the television series-(Tony and Jack)?Golden...

  • never help a eldery woman across the street. She and the Boy Scouts of America would be mad at you .

  • @Wellch well he should have minded his own business the kid was doing just fine on his own and did not require Felix's help and the old lady seemed to be glad for his help yet he barges in and therefore deserved what he got.

  • have loved this show forever and watch it every single night thanks to it being on dvd.

  • My freands dad lives at 1049 park avenue he told me his dad loved the show so when there was a coop open he went for it and got it. Just a 2 bed nice place tho

  • THAT'S WHERE THAT TUNE CAME FROM!!! Oh my god, that was stuck in my head for years!!!

  • Homer: Lisa, what's your favorite movie?

Lisa: Until you taped over it; The Little Mermaid.

Homer: That's right, The Odd Couple! So meet your comically mismatched roommate, Bart Simpson! Ba ba ba ba ba bah! Ba ba ba, ba ba bahhh!

  • The Simpsons Episode 1016 brought me here! :-D

  • @crazyfooInc same!!!

  • seriously? a crappy show like Friends brought you here? You clearly suck.

  • @chocotacojewboy oh yes.. :D if being a fan of FRIENDS sucks, I definitely am then. hahah

  • rights go to Disney and ABC

  • The Cast of FRIENDS were humming this theme. That was why I came here.

  • Man Fuck Friends That Show Sucked! This TV Show Itself Brought me Here. I Never Heard Of Friends until I Was Ten Back In 2000, But I Use To Watched The Odd Couple When i Was Five.

  • No Matter which intro is used this show was absolutely groundbreaking but it often overlooked and never given credit. In my opinion though it is one of the best sitcoms of all time. Tony Randal and Jack Klugman were at age 50 when the show began and were pros at acting. i know you hear this a lot but they ad libbed most of the script.

  • They have a show on today that somewhat like this show called two and a half men

  • @marshallblackstarr NO, JUST NO!

  • Haha , FRIENDS ! <3

  • My father showed me this show and I love it! Just like how I love taxi also <3

  • just watched brady bunch. tue sounds alike

  • this show was the shit back in the day. these 2 always had it out but in the end always settled there differences. the story of every college dorm roomate. : )

  • Damn catchy tune that I have to whistle all the time cause it's stuck in my head.

  • 1st show I watched 7 years ago when I moved into the house I'm in now...always holds a special place, no doubt.

  • Bender from Futurama stamps down a chair. ;P haha Good times. Nice to finally see the source material. :)

  • Everyone's got a bit of these guyz in 'em

  • One of my favorite scenes in all of television is from this intro. When Tony Randall, "Felix", tries to help the little old lady across the street and she hits him with her purse. Then the Boy Scout slugs him. The first time I saw it as a teenager I nearly fell off the couch laughing and I still chuckle every time I see it.

  • "November 3rd Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence...that request came from his wife."

  • Hey it's Quincy!

  • Not sure what's more pathetic: The fact that people still ask for a "thumbs up," or watch Friends?

    Ba-zing!

  • @jayarcidiacono i think that's the order:

    1 - Thumbs Up

    2 - You

    ..

watching friends is not even on that list, sorry.

  • @MuriloRochaMusic your opinion of me means nothing. What you say cannot alter my mood. So if you were looking for a petty verbal fight on youtube you'd better find someone else. Peace!

  • I met Tony Randall while riding the B Train. He was by himself and saw me. He nodded to me and smiled because he knew that I respected his privacy. I can tell that he was a classy gentlemen. RIP.

  • I remember when this used to come on late at night on WB 11.

  • I had a crush on Felix...sigh.. hehehehe

  • @valentineshoney Lol, i had a crush on Oscar, but i was like 11 years old when this show came on!!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheCactusFlower57 I was 8 when the show began in 1970. Too bad Tony Randall aka Felix passed in 2004. You and I could have gone a a double date :D

  • @valentineshoney yeah..but neither one of us had a driver license..lol

  • @valentineshoney this was a very funny televsion show Tony Randall did a great job playing felix Unger-No way you could watch this show and keep a straight face

  • he will always be quincy ME to me.LOL

  • Man...killer theme song. I loved this show.

  • I loved this show! Growing up as a kid in the late 60s-early 70s here in NYC, I enjoyed it all! And to see these two actors actually going through the dance routine (in Central Park) my school (P.S. 171) would be performing at the Waldorf Astoria that year was awesome! I don't remember all the kids here. But I do recognize the skinny African American kid (Harold Chatfield) just behind Jack Klugman & Tony Randall! I bet to this day Harold gets kidded about his 15 minutes of fame! :)

  • who is that girl at 0:17? i am in love with her since 1974.

  • this IS classic,what a treat!!!!!!

  • I went to school in the 60s/70s (Los Angeles Unified Schools) and we never did anything like this. Looks fun.

  • "like" if you came here after a friends episode!!

  • @pata4 i did not come here from a FUCKING friends episode and i hate people begging for thumbs ups like you

  • @SuperFunkDoctor It's not an opt out system. If you don't want to give him a thumbs up you don't need to write an explanation why. Just don't fucking do it.

  • @one5643 and you dont comment on my comment explaining why i shouldnt comment

  • @SuperFunkDoctor Shut up if you can't take a joke or anythin, besides, if you hate it so much... why did you read it?! Waay!!! All you losers that are complainin because of a stupid thing, get a life!!!

  • @spencer8003 your just a a typical low IQ pathetic weirdo so stfu and watch friends

  • @pata4 (Ross begins humming the "I Dream Of Jeannie" theme) Chandler: No, no. We're done.

  • @pata4 after simpsons xD

  • @pata4 I voted your comment down. FYI.

  • i love this in F.R.I.E.N.D.S

  • That show was bad ass.

  • one of the ultimate theme songs and tv shows of all time!!!!!!!!

  • Anybody have the open where it says. 'On November 13. etc. I'd love to see that 1 here on Youtube. God bless!

  • One of my all-time favorite TV shows. R.I.P. Tony.

  • @ftsjr Check out our modern take on the odd couple. First video titled "Banana Split"

  • The One with the Dozen Lasagnas! <3

  • Friends. <3 :)

  • @02Lara20 yes! :D

  • Are those maypoles in the scene where Felix and Oscar are in the park dancing with all those people? If so, what's with maypoles? I have never seen one out here in Southern California. Is it an East Coast tradition?

  • @szqsk8 In the 60's and early 70's in school we celebrated May Day on the playground dancing around the may poles. By the time I had kids, that tradition had all but disappeared. Google it.

  • I adored this show when I was a teenager! I liked the ones filmed before a live audience the nest. I still laugh when Felix tries to help the old lady cross the street and she beats him down with her purse then the boy scout kid smacks him too and you see Felix mouth the word OW!

  • loved this intro!

  • For someone who knows NYC: can you tell me where the final shot (the two sitting down) is taken?

  • @RAM71 By the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

  • @RAM71 It looks like its somewhere in the 45-55 streets probably around Broadway. When I lived in NYC I once thought about documenting these locales.

  • @RAM71 It's by the Apple store

  • @RAM71 It's at 59th street (a.k.a. Central Park South) and 5th avenue.

  • that reminds me of me so much when oscar takes a bite of the hot dog and mustard drips all over his shirt...i swear that happens to me a ton of times...

  • @DartsRme312 Wear a bib.

  • anyone know what type of music this would be classed as?

or.. the name of a group that this is like or something :)

  • @tombokickass A guess: would be classified as Jazz.

    Contemporary Jazz.

  • I remember Homer Simpson singing this theme tune ha ha, lovely

  • Interestingly, their first address, 1049 Park Avenue, was where Klugman lived, and their second, 145 Central Park West, was where Randall lived. I saw Klugman in an OTB once on his way back from Sloan Kettering I think.

  • was watching the Simpsons last night and homer started singing this theme tune, lol

  • lol classic friends moment, been looking for this song everywhere XD awesome

  • i prefer jack lemon and Walter Matthieu

  • I remember back in the days when the odd couple aired on tv and the first time i watched it i was hooked on the show.I couldn't wait until saturday night to watch it,i still want to get the the seasons on dvd.I wish it was still on tv.

  • Comcast!

  • the link doesn't work

  • lol. that's odd. here's a diff one.

    watch?v=umO0kQOWyrU

    lol

  • Yes it works this time. I do remember that one, lol. Classic.

  • Beautiful, haunting tune associated with a truly funny, beautiful series. Brings back beautiful memories ...

  • Why were these 2 paired together, storyline-wise?

  • @Gary: It was probably the contrast: the slob vs. the anal guy! Both of them did a great acting job!

  • @GaryVonGary Each one of them got kicked out by their wives. Felix for being such a neat freak he drove his wife crazy. Don't remember why Oscar's wife kicked him out. They were friends and Felix showed up at Oscar's door because he didn't have anywhere else to go. Even in the early 70's, mid-town Manhattan was very expensive, so they shared the apartment and the rent. BTW, Brett Sommers, of Match Game fame, was married to Jack Klugman at the time and played his ex-wife, Blanche.

  • ¡que hermoso! yo veía esta serie cuando era un nene.

ojalá la pasaran otra vez. acá en Argentina no se ve desde hace decadas. Muchas gracias por el video.

    thank`s.

  • love this old tune -

  • @Russ821 By the late 1970s I got Donnie & Marie and Sonny & Cher.

  • One of the top 5 comedies of all time on TV. I have an interview with Jack Klugman posted here on YouTube.

  • Friday Nights were great in the the early 70s on ABC. The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, The Odd Couple, Room 222, and finally Love American Style. This has to be the greatest lineup in the history of television.

  • the religious right whackos hate everything.

  • Both Klugman and Randall (nee Leonard Rosenberg) were both Jewish.

  • Tony Randall was named Aaron Leonard Rosenberg. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma

  • According to Witkopedia, Randall was born Arthur Leonard Rosenberg.

  • thanks for the tidbit. I got my mom the final two DVD of the series and enjoys them a lot

  • @vividwatch47 As were a lot of the actors and producers back then. Jews controlled a huge portion of the entertainment industry back then, especially at the network level. This is not a bash, because they made great TV.

  • @bhkidd They still do control everything! Nothing's changed. It's actually gotten worse!

  • The religious right would hate this show.

  • Oh yeah! My chemistry teacher was obsessed with this show.....that's how I hooked on it during my senior year and after :-)

  • This was funny - think I watched it too often as well!!

  • Great show!

  • Jack Klugmon...That miserable old goat!

  • The further adventures of Felix The Goose and Oscar The Pig!

  • Neil Simon's music is so awesome, he quintessentially captured what was good about the 60's!

  • Niel Simon Wrote the play...Niel Hefti wrote the music

  • R.I.P. Neal Hefti (and Danny Simon, too, who Neil said was the inspiration for Oscar [or Felix]).

  • Damn, I remember that like it was yesterday. Reckon I must have watched too many episodes?

  • they sure don't make 'em like this anymore! fantastic!

  • my freind n i talk about this show all the time

  • This video is freakin' awesome!!! I have the whole 1st season on DVD!!! It was GREAT!!!

  • Still love this show.

    They were magic together.

  • The part where the boy scout punches Felix still cracks me up.

  • ..and the old lady whacks him with the purse!

  • Took me and a co worked two days to figure out what TV show this theme song belongs to.

  • Best TV Theme song ever made!!!!

  • PITS! PITS! PITS!

  • this song reminds me of a salvia trip

  • good old days............

  • There is one line in the original movie which is priceless. Oscar is going off at Felix for all of Felix's eccentricities.

"Your little notes by the side of the bed, 'Don't forget the milk - FU'. IT TOOK ME 3 HOURS TO WORK OUT THAT FU STOOD FOR FELIX UNGER!"

    Funny stuff.

I've always though this would be great as a radio play.

Anyway, I enjoyed the opening sequence. Thanks.

  • Even funnier: This was long before "FU" commonly meant... well, you know.

  • lol..

If that's true, that would be gold. The Odd Couple came out as a stage-play by Neil Simon even before the movie. This line (if Simon did have FU meaning F--- You) is so good, I wonder whether he molded the name Felix Unger on those initials.

Anyway, whether that is how it happened or its what you say, its sheer genius if you ask me :D

  • Neil Simon was a devoted viewer of the series, even though he got no royalites for the show (he sold the film rights to both "The Odd Couple" and "Barefoot In The Park" to Paramount in 1966. They did a version of "Barefoot In The Park" on "Love, American Style" in 1969, but didn't lead to a series. They did both African-American versions of both "Barefoot In The Park" and "The Odd Couple" but both only lasted one season.

  • Not true, it's in the original play and it meant exactly that.

  • were they gay? idk, im a 90's kid...

  • No they were just two divorced men who were best friends.

  • @rphr1987 - To add to your statement, what made them "odd" was that one was a fastidious neat freak while the other was a slob - and they had to live with each other's habits after their wives put them out!

  • @juxtonx no- it made sense in New York to live together to save money. This might be one of the best sitcoms ever. Oscar would bring some girls over and, eventually, Felix would f it up.

  • @JunkyardKid LOL So true....Felix would f it up. but this is my show.

  • @JunkyardKid In the play and the movie the Pigeon sisters lived upstairs and the guys and girls would "mingle" with each other. The play ends with Felix moving in with the Pigeon sisters. I don't remember if that happened in the movie. IIRC, the tv series included the Pigeon sisters at the beginning, but they were quickly written out. Perhaps a little too suggestive for the early 70's?

  • @juxtonx Funny you should ask-- ABC was very worried that people would think that, hence the painstakingly thorough "On November 13th..." intro for seasons 2, and if I recall, 3.

  • @juxtonx No, and the show ruled. I was born ten years after the show ended! :D

  • @juxtonx T_T no im a 90's kid they wernt gay and belive id id kow if they were gay ;D lol

  • Today 1049 park avenue is a co-op building. (it was converted to a co-op in 1984). I just saw on a real estate website an apartment in that building is up for sale. A 2 bed/2 bath apartment (with maids room, making it a 3 bedroom) and even a wood burning fireplace. The price? $1,595,000 (similarities aside, photos show that the apartment doesnt look like Oscars apartment). Another apartment in the same building, same size, same amount of bedrooms and bathrooms, is up for rent at $8000 a month!

  • Thats so cool ..thanks .. I like knowin stuff like that.I watch TOC at night, and wonder where those people are in the intro and the end, are they dead, still around?and if anyone walks the area they shot this in.. and recognizes it.

  • i have this song for piano - alfred top hits

  • this song has forever been imprinted on my brain...love!!

  • In serial friends they sang this :-)

  • homer sings this song too xD

  • Do you know where I can find an MP3 version of Homer singing this?

  • you could record it and turn it into a mp3

  • On Friday night ABC had this lineup:

Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Room 222, Odd Couple, Love American Style

  • ....wow youre so right !! And before The Brady Bunch, at least here in NYC, it was Lets Make A Deal

  • I ask you, could they have found anyone better to play Oscar and Felix?

  • does any1 know where i can find the first episode or movie when felix moves into oscar's apartment

  • the best

  • Yes, Tony Randall was ideed like unto his tv counterpart, Felix Unger in real life, and did wholehardly admit it in an interview at the height of the shows' popularity, then in another years later after the show was off the air (I do believe it was on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson). Jack Klugman I don't remember, but indeed he played Oscar Madison to the hilt quite well.

  • The Good, and Classic days. I really enjoy this show, excellent theme song:)

  • Wasn't a big fan of the show but adore that theme song. 5 stars

  • WPIX in New York 11pm every night followed by the Honeymooners at 11:30. Best hour of television EVER.

  • The movie is a classic but this was okay, too. I think it was on a Friday night, I seem to remember it with Room 222, Love American Style & the Brady Bunch. Tony Randall & Jack Klugman were great.

  • A.K.A.: "The Adventures Of Felix The Goose and Oscar The Pig".

  • liked ron glass better than tony randall and

its a tie with jack klugman and demond wilson

  • what the hell is going on at 0:49? WTF thats random

  • Synchronized man-dance in park. All the rage in the mid-70s.

  • Sounds good to me.

  • hi everyone, we fans need to complain to CBS/ PARAMOUNT FULL RESTORATION FILM TRANSFER ! RESTORED SCENES ALL THEY GAVE US ON DVD WAS TV EDITED FOR COMMERCIAL CRAP..

  • Why does C.B.S./Paramount plague us with crap like this?

  • i use to love this show!!! CBS late night!!!

  • This is the first show I remember being in afternoon syndication. I was a wee-tot of about 6 watching this, with the original Bob Newhart Show right afterwards. I was a warped kid.

  • Love this theme. Wish I could find the 1982-83 funky version of The New Odd Couple.
