Much as I would love to, I have to be careful because the DRM police have been cracking down on what is published without "rights". I could lose my site and now tiptoe lightly when choosing items that are released on CD. Sorry but will maybe try tosneak one in in the near future. Have lost over 10 "buddy" sites due to the clamp down.
Hey Hoops...Would you please post , "In For The Night"..."Rainbows Colored In Blue" and "Lawdy Lou" from this same LP, please?...I would love to hear, and be able to share them. Many thanks, in advance!
One of the best shows I've ever seen was these guys at "The bottom Line." The live version of "Squier James" was one of the best jams ever. Where the album left off at the end of the song the live version took over with two lead guitars jamming off each other. It was incredible, absolutely incredible!
Maybe they only had one hit but they wrote great songs and I just learned they released two more albums which are likely loaded with good songs. I just listened to a recent Toler/Townsend track from Johnny Townsend's website and I'll be going back for more.
@Observerx10 You are so right! Listened to our old cassette tape from the 70's and it brought back so many memories of when we were dating in 1980. We used to play it all the time. That is how I found out that they had other great songs besides Smoke. Johnny T has such an awesome voice. I have been listening to Toler/Townsend too! Isnt it great??
@Observerx10 CD universe has the duo glide CD from whcih I have posted a couple of songs too. I am just a sucker for harmonies and sax and they do it so well.
@Observerx10 other albums were good with some classics that I have uploaded here. A few more I would like to upload but youtube police are really cracking down in the name of DRM (Digital Rights copyright laws) even though no gain stems from this. So I have to be careful what I publish and what company originally owned the publishing rights. Will try to do more though.
@hoopskmccann Thanks for rattling my cage again. Wondering if we shouldn't contact Townsend and have him upload the 70s catalog while plugging Toler - Townsend. Seems to me a good way to boost sales of the later material and might get some good live recordings from that too.
@hoopskmccann Hey Hoops, couldn't find a personal email addy for Johnny but found him on Facebook so sent a friend request and message. He might not be too active there and that's a shame, since he could start a fan page and do some inexpensive promotion. We did have one common friend and I messaged him to see if he could tell me how often Johnny shows up. Still waiting for response. Maybe I'll try to track down Dan Toler next. 8)
PLEASE put the whole CD on you tube-- this guy had one of the best voices from the '70's bar none--the album is a little dated with heavy synthesizers but there is nothing dated about his voice--- "In for the Night" is an incredible tune---also--does it have to be you--I think Kenny Loggins is in the album,,,
Will try to work up more of the music-always getting block by "the powers that be" and have to contest it-which is not a healthy way to keeo your account active as many of our former contributors can attest to. Thank for the comment and look for more in the near future.
yeah-I really liked these guys-had all 3 of there albums and got the 2 cds that were released for the sound quality. Between the harmony and the occasional horns, they hooked me. thanks for the comment. Hope all is going well with you.
