Well I go to the library atleast once a week and it seems very successful. How about we just cut government and insurance out of the picture. And make it so you can pick your own doctor and hospital. And pay directly to the hospital, just like insurance. So you would pick a hospital and pay them a monthly amount. Then when you need the help. you go to that hospital and you get your doctor. There would be a brief waiting period. Say 6 months at $50 a week. Then you are in. Just keep up the payments. and your children $25 a week each. Everyone would benefit. Right ?

Actually as a Canadian i know my healthcare is considered better than yours as indicated by the W.H.O. which is a unbiased third party organization. Swedens is also much much better than yours. The only Canadians that i have ever heard of going to the US is not because of the quality but rather people that dont want to wait their turn, which is also very comparable to your average wait times so that arguement is out. I never said America was number one! Since I am and insured by a private company, I actually can receive the health care I need when I need it without any wait. When it comes to health care, waiting could make a situation worse. For example, there was a woman who requested a pap smear test. She was told she could not have one because the government could not afford it. It turns out that she did have cancer. If she had been given the pap smear she requested it could have been prevented.

If the latter then the government charges the treasury or borrows the money and a beuracrat makes the choice on utility of the deal. Well I go to the library atleast once a week and it seems very successful. Nevertheless I do not advocate: facism/capitalism or socialism/communism each revolve around a profit system and in each profit is the main concern leaving human welfare at the bottom of the list. while I agree with your overall view, Lincoln actually acted unconstitutionally to prevent the southern states from seceding and his reasons had nothing to do with ending slavery - that only later became the story that's been used by elite to get people to idolize lincoln - the 'bill clinton' of his era. How about we just cut government and insurance out of the picture. And make it so you can pick your own doctor and hospital. And pay directly to the hospital, just like insurance. So you would pick a hospital and pay them a monthly amount. Then when you need the help. you go to that hospital and you get your doctor. There would be a brief waiting period. Say 6 months at $50 a week. Then you are in. Just keep up the payments. and your children $25 a week each. Everyone would benefit. Right ?

Actually as a Canadian i know my healthcare is considered better than yours as indicated by the W.H.O. which is a unbiased third party organization. Swedens is also much much better than yours. The only Canadians that i have ever heard of going to the US is not because of the quality but rather people that dont want to wait their turn, which is also very comparable to your average wait times so that arguement is out. America is huge? Stop chanting "were #1" over and over as you are not.

I never said America was number one! Since I am and insured by a private company, I actually can receive the health care I need when I need it without any wait. When it comes to health care, waiting could make a situation worse. For example, there was a woman who requested a pap smear test. She was told she could not have one because the government could not afford it. It turns out that she did have cancer. If she had been given the pap smear she requested it could have been prevented.

The pap smear incident took place in a country that has socialized medicine. The point of the story is that time is important and waiting can make situations worse. Socializing American health care wont fix America's problem. The problem with American health care is due to a lack of incentives. In America a 3rd party pays most of the bill. This happened to someone in the U.K. I have heard many stories of people not getting the health care they need in countries where they have socialized medicine. You just dont get it do you? Aprox 16000 people in your country die because they cant see a doctor. The biggest reason people go broke in the US is medical bills. Does this sound healthy to you? I am telling you right now that I live here and have NEVER had anyhting like what you are told happen. I have had two surgeries with no wait, both of my parents survived through cancer with no wait. My father found out he had kidney failure, the next day he was on a dialysis machine. No wait at all!

Look man i am telling your straight here. Incentives are used in your private system to encourage investment in medical technology. This is also done here on a smaller scale due to our size no because the govt wont pay. The end result is many canadians will bitch about wait times for NON CRITICAL treatments but if you told them to pay for it most would bitch even more. As for critical treatment, when my brother broke his leg it was set that day...again no wait times for emerg services.

Today I was told that it takes 3 months just to get a screening for cancer! That's ridiculous! Someone from Canada told me that their father died because he was on a waiting list for 3 years for a new liver. When Canada implemented federal price cuts in the late 1960s, drug research dropped more than 50%. The U.S. is the largest contributor to drug research. We don't want the same thing to happen because most of the world depends on America's drug research.

Actually the first polio vaccine was invented by Jonas Salk, who was an American medical researcher. Insulin is a hormone that is made by the body. You can't invent insulin. I'm a health science major; I think I know what I am talking about. Also you probably live longer due to other factors such as less pollution and lower obesity rates.
