@winkleralexander1 dude... the spartan 3's were deployed even before the first contact at Harvest, they were sent on suicide missions. only a hand full were pulled out by the spartan 2 Kurt, because he saw that they were stronger, faster, and more tactically aware

@buba132 no, the spartan threes were planned to start right after the spartan 2's, but they got a budget cut and put the program on hold, then once the covenant attacked and the war started, the project was brought back up after reviewing the success of the spartan 2 project

However, after the covanent destroyed harvest, the spartan project was revitalized becuase of its success, all bonus funding not essencial to warfare was put on hold and funding was routed to all means of defence, including the spartan project

From what I remember about the book, there was a considerable amount of ground combat around certain areas of the planet, as the covenant were looking for another damn artifact. Thus, depending on the storyline of the campaign, this game can still stay relatively true to the book. Of course I haven't read the books in a long time, but that's just what I remember from them (also, the spartan with my namesake dies on Reach :( )

I hope they show some of the space battle though at least!

@NicktheSassymonster These particular Spartans, are the Spartan-IIIs who were recruited from Earth's destroyed colonies. They're all war orphans who decided to choose to become Spartans as a way to fight back against the Covenant.

@MishraArtificer The Spartan III's Were trained my Chief Officer Mendez. At the end of The Fall of Reach when the Spartans graduate he takes off to train the next group. The Spartans the defended Reach were a part of the Master Chiefs team. They split up for separate missions and the Chief was ordered back to the Autumn to bug out for their mission with out the rest of his team who was still on Reach.

@Klassification No. Chief wasn't the fastest or the strongest or smartest Spartan. He was the best leader. A great leader. Also there are 3 other Spartans still alive and another one with Dr. Hasley on a secret mission. The books are amazing I highly suggest to read them!

@jchao4m Yeah, it's gay how they're not even trying to remain true to the story told in the novel, I mean, judging from the trailers and explanations I've seen... In this game the Covenant aren't even attacking Reach the same way... Most of the battle was fought in Space above Reach (in the novel, which pre-dates this game), but in this game, it looks like there's a long, massive campaign and lots of fighting on Reach itself..
